Love your content! The Proxxon cutter is a great tool, you don't need the wire to be red hot though. The Nichrome wire won't last as long and you increase the 'kerf' of each cut considerably. I have all of Gerrard's tools and they make the Proxxon exceptionally MORE useful (which is saying something indeed)!

I really like the way you built those walls mate! I'm going to get some styro board to try my hand at building some village buildings for Phandelver and other small cities. How would you texture the roof panels for let's say a tile roof or thatched roof? Hey man, to make round walls or round corner turreted towers, you can use a set of dividers and then make the wall or tower section out of 1" or 2" thick polystyro board. Would be slower but you would basically be making the bricks for building the walls or the tower. Just hot glue, pin with dowels or get fancy and glue magnets to the top and bottom of the block runs and that would work I'd think. Most def going to try making some walls from the ideas you've posted here.

Something that big you need space which I sadly lack, Plus the temperature in my garage is currently -10 below celsius. But that is really cool. What would be more awesome is if someone could build East Osgiliath, the Anduin, West Osgiliath The Rammas Echor and all 7 tiers of Minas Tirith as one huge set piece for one truly epic battle.
I have West Osgiliath, The Pelennor and the Rammas already done :)

Hot wire cutter crenelations and merlons are sooooo much easier eh? Excellent stuff :) Now you just need to paint up one million figures to truly represent the armies that were portrayed in the film :D

This is my dream come true! Started on a project like this many years ago but stopped because of school. Only made the gate(house) so far and many many designs haha. Love to see this when it is finished! Ps: Can I find the design templates somewhere? :)

I made a 2x1.5 m osgiliath board i was bored so i added a 2m wall that resembles the minas tirith walls and a 0.5x2 pellenor field took me 4 summers , il send through a video and a few pictures , this is great! I added 3 gates tho cuz the 2m wall needed that 😅
Also there are 400+ units on the board i never hd a chance to play a battle cuz the scale is toooo big

Maybe one day, but the goal for 2021 is a large portion of the lwoer level, the second gate of the second level and then a few spots from higher up.

That foam is from bunnings! But only some stores carry it and some stores carry a much worse brand :)
The guys from the Ontario Hobbit Adventure's have made some pretty cool sets. Their Minas Tirith Set was awesome but not as good as the Rivendell set they built.

I've got one gatehouse tutorial ocming out in a month or so, but it's the second gate, not sure when the first gate will get done, probabaly not till 2022, and I doublt I'll ever make scrath built towers now, the printed ones in the last update work really well. But maybe Iwill we'll see!

How are you going to move the miniatures in this mega battle, if you build the entire city?
We aren't building the entire city, not yet anyway, but the parts we will build will be true scale. for the all sections will be reachable and we we have scaff platforms behind the upper parts with ladders to reach them :)

Would you make a tutorial for gate piece? It's very hard to plan and complex.. with those small towers.
Also what knife do you use? No way I can cut the xps so clean..
My plan is to print all templates and go to workshop with pro tools for cutting and cut all in one day, do you think it's doable?
Absolutely, but it won't be tille third quarter of this year.
I just use a crappy craft knife and change the blades all the time :) But you could get a proxxon if you're going to be doing a lot of cutting :)
