I will be expanding this system in future videos with clip on attachments, gun turrets and other structures. Subscribe so you don’t miss it :D
You can't tell me what to do, I'm already subscribed :0 this is a great project, I'll definitely have to appropriate the design when I have space for a dedicated hobby area
Looking forward to it!
Looks fookin mint 👍👍👍👍
I beat your super excited to utilize it in game
I met bet
Now, using all your Imperial tutorials, we can make a whole fortified city!
Heck yeah you can
Dorn would be proud
Fortify?
Siege?
utilise*
The eye of terror sees all.
Legends
1:27 for a moment I thought you were tricking us all and making a beautiful flower tower
Would love to see you tackle some smexy fortress building yourself! Or a city!
Or a fortress amidst the ruined husk of the city it failed to protect, now home to the last of the people who prepare for an ork siege!
The compass is so cool. Theres such a neat beauty in geometry
almost sacred geometry 😁
@@EricsHobbyWorkshop Great way and reason to teach 'lockdown' kids the importance of math!
No one's talking about how the light behind your head in the start of the video makes you look like a saint. Like, it's literally a halo right behind your head lol.
It is sanguinius!
Commander Erickus, the Living Saint of the Ordo Hobbium
Saint Eric, protector of the terrain makers!
I legit was just gonna post this
or the fact at the beginning he says bail not baal?
This has that classic gw style. I love the modernish overdesigned style of warhammer buildings/terrain but this just screams "use me in games" instead of just build, paint, store and never use in games. Fantastic
Yeah theres a lot of beautiful detail on the new gw stuff but it feels too busy sometimes. Terrain needs to blend into the background a bit and some gw terrain kits have as much detail as minis!
@@EricsHobbyWorkshop Agreed! It makes us focus on the minis, where we focused most of our work!
@@EricsHobbyWorkshop agreed that’s what I’m liking with the new total war Warhammer game it’s that the backgrounds and battlefields are more stylized and allow you to focus on the units more.
Excuse me but how many COMPLETE, FULLY PAINTED ARMYS DO YOU HAVE.
Zero lol. Gotta pick and choose units to show on camera. I have like 2000pts of playable night lords, but only about half is fully painted. Half has just basecoats so looks halfway decent on the table at a distance. I have about 1500 pts of blood angels built and half painted as well. I have close to 2000 pts of eldar that are almost all unpainted, save a unit of guardians, a farseer and a jetbike. And i have a handful of guard, a few tyranids, a decent amount of orks, an indomitus worth of necrons. Ok i have a lot. Still working on painting it all though
@@EricsHobbyWorkshop lol
@@EricsHobbyWorkshop I know that feeling!
@@EricsHobbyWorkshop But if you count WH fantasy... 11?
Gee , welcome back man ,haven't seen your posts for awhile , hope all is well , happy new year , be safe be well.
Thanks Drew!
Good vid, you always use that coarse and rough and irritating sand quite well. I'm gonna make sure I utilize the concept of angle of repose in my own crafts.
Hopefully it doesnt get everywhere
Your channel and Eric's Hobby Workshop are probably the best I've seen as far as model/mini building and painting. Howl's Moving Castle was absolutely gorgeous. Though I would love to see the house from My Neighbor Totoro, like you did with Kiki's delivery service. Thank you both for such amazing content :)
I see you utilized the word 'utilize'
I am utilizing the comment section to help increase your interactions in a pretensions way to influence the agrorithiam.
All jokes aside I love your work. Much of your terrain reminds me of the stuff games workshop used in there battle reports back in 2ed. Being that's when I got into miniature gaming every one of your video's leaves me giddy with nostalgia and has inspired me to start making terrain again.
I am pretty new to 40k, but played whfb all through my childhood so that era of 40k was burned into my brain as i skimmed past it in White Dwarf. Its nice to dive into it now because its still totally new and fresh for me
This man needs more viewership, although granted terrain craft for 40k is definitely a niche hobby. I can't get enough of his skill and teachings, he is a absolute master in his field, what an artisan.
Love these builds. This could also be a great Precinct Fortress for Necromunda.
Sure could!!! Good call
I'm an old fart just coming into this. However, I have a vast architectural background. I find these videos captivating. You are never too old to learn from the young. Btw, well done!
You've managed to create a scale version of modern Detroit in those glamour shots. Robocop would be proud to serve and protect there.
Very clever using the foam from the breach section to make its own rubble so the volume looks just right!
The whole piece is epic, and the breach is really the highlight!
Thanks! Im really happy with the breach too
The terrain is brilliant but what really blew me away was those sick compass skills
Dude if you want sick compass skills check out wylochs armoury. I think i learned that trick feom one of his videos
THE SHRINE OF CHAOS SALUTES YOU. THE GODS HAVE GAZED UPON YOUR CHANNEL AND HAVE DETERMINED ITS POWER AND WORTH. ALL HAIL ERIC!!!!!!!
I am blown away. This is your best video ever, I love the new video format (with no fast lapses), calm energy, jaw dropping design and execution- this is god level ASMR.
I like the time laps
Making my own set with the exception of the busted wall, for it is nonsense to even fathom the possibility of a fallen rampart of a bastion of the Imperium.
Heck yeahhhhh
But with the blood angels it actually is believable. How? Simple, a death company dreadnought didn't want to wait for the doors to slowly open...
Cool macro-level terrain! You could even make some stairs going up and down various parts like the gate or from ground level.
I bet this gives a huge advantage to one side if they start with the wall :D
I have tons of add ons and other components already underway!
Dang that is fantastic! I am going to use this to make a fantasy style wall set. I've been wanting to build a huge set of town walls. Great job, dude!
Those shots at the end... now that's what this hobby is all about !
Another great build! I think a lot of times modular terrain isn't worth the effort to craft or purchase, as the fitment and hassle of pegs or magnets can be more trouble than they're worth, but for big, Line of sight blocking terrain, especially with a very simple, fast attachment point like you've designed here, I think you can get a ton of value and it stays fresh for just a little effort and planning.
Would love to see some wyloch style clip-ons for this system, in addition to the larger buildings you mentioned.
Keep up the good work!
Seconded, would love to see expansions and add-ons to this project
Looks great! Now, it just needs a little "Flash" I'm sure some friendly local Orks will help with that
Nearby Warboss: "Dem beakies is so nice, makin me up a cozy lil Fort. Fink I'll name it "Kamp Krusha" once I mash up da tin can humies inside"
If I had been taught geometry that way, I'd remember more.
Thank you for considering other countries when clarifying what you mean by chipboard! Not many videos I've watched do this and it's really useful considering how many crafting materials have different names across the world. Another amazing build by the way!
Man, I really enjoy the flow of your videos. They‘re always so relaxing while yielding really awesome results!
This is the tutorial I have been waiting for! Looks simple but really neat at the same time! Thank you for the inspiration!
Thanks lemonardo!! 🍋
As I was watching you make the crumbled wall, I was thinking, "Dude is way too strong, he is gonna break it." I wasn't disappointed. Nice build bro!
That waterfall in the background! :O
Loving the new camera angles and cutting mat!
Thanks! I love that mat too. So much room for activities!
That wouldn't be a problem for rogal dorn, he do know proper siege tactics
I’m reading Apocalypse right now, which features Imperial Fists preparing for a siege. Definitely helped me get in the mood!
Positivity ! Yeaaahhhhh 😂😏
Great job mate !
Lol gotta stay positive my dude
This is may favorite build of yours so far. So amazing!!! I have a question though, How tall did you make these pieces?
*my
Hey man awesome video. I've been dreaming of putting together a fortress like this for a while and will definitely utilize some of your ideas. On a side note, utilize doesn't actually mean "use" it means "make practical and effective use of", so it does have use in context, i.e. I could "use your ideas" or I could "make good use (utilize) your ideas" ;)
Thanks, and rereferring back to a vid you did. I totaly agree when it comes to things being in scale to a model, like the stairs you do, it looks weird when the stairs for a mini is more in scale to a 3 and 3 fourths action figure. I enjoy your videos, my favorite, the servo skull, heh, that was awsome dude. Keep up the great creativity.
I will endeavor to utilise the knowledge and skills imparted in this videographed work. Never surrender to those who would tear down our linguistic history and indeed our shared destiny. Do not allow brigands and ne'er-do-wells to set alight our verbal Library of Alexandria! Defend your incredibly rich traditions and history! (seriously, great build).
Happy New Year! That piece looks fantastic--all of your terrain has a personal touch to it that ends up far more appealing than whatever GW sells these days. I really need to get some supplies together so I can make stuff like this during my downtime--projects like these really seem to come to life in front of your eyes, you know? As always, wonderful work!
Dude camera upgrade and mic upgrade!?!?! Hell yeah!!! Have been following for quite some time, glad to see you're able to upgrade you set up. You're really starting to take off
Same camera, just experimenting woth new lighting and settings
ОЧЕНЬ КРУТО !
Cool !
"I have ideas to do some chaos add-ons that will fit well with my Night Lords army." - Talos approves of this post.
0:00 'BAAL' It's actually pronounced: *_BA-LL_* (Like 'Basket-BALL') not "BALE''
(* Great Vid, Erik)
It has been too long! Definitely one of the best crafters on RUclips and you deserve WAY more subscribers! I have definitely utilized alot of knowledge I have gleaned from your channel!
Great vid! You have really picked up your editing game. The "action" shots at the end were really nice.
I really like this man, great job :) it's easy to do but very versatile, something damn near any imperial (or chaos, with suitable....'modifications') could use regularly. The broken wall is great too, I love how it can make the piece work for a more 'balanced' terrain setup rather than a siege.
Again, fantastic job man, and your talking head clips looked great :)
Yeah! I am making some end pieces that are kind of like half a breach to make even more table options with short wall sections
damn dude, thats fucking rad. you seem to be focused on large, epic terrain piece's as of late, and i dig it man. happy new year, peace love and doobies dude. \m/
i prefered the one forge world did....you know the one that cost £1000.....er...wheres's me craft knife
"utilize" implies the use is actually not the intended one; the verb means "to make utile". For example, you _utilized_ insulation foam to sculpt model walls.
Holy. Shit.
Been following you since 10k subs - you're gonna blow up if you keep this up brother! Sending positive vibes
Totally gonna do this with my imperial fists. The true masters of fortifications!
Heck yeah! If I hadn’t already painted all my intercessors res i would have done one up in IF yellow just for this video
But wouldn't the fisty bois then have learned the fortifications from the blood angels and therefore the Blood angels would be the masters of fortification?
@@Smaakakor not necessarily. If they completely altered their doctrine to use the blood angels tactics, yes. However, if they just adopted it alongside their own tactics, similar to what the ultramarines do, then the fisty fellas would remain as the masters.
How the fuck this guy has only 48 k subs?smh
Amazing all your videos
I thought it was pronounced “Bahl”
Apparently online people are saying the hebrew characters make it clearly Bah-ahl with two syllables. But i hate that so im gonna go with my old Diablo 2 pronounciation
It is, but you know 40k backwater pronunciations... 'Bail' is completely in universe. 😉
The Warmaster of Chaos is named A-bad-un' according to official sources, so let's just collectively ignore what GW says.
@@XavierKaziTheZombie On point. Why worry what people fink is correct? 😉
Depends on which version of Gothic dialect you speak 😂
Love it, dude. I'm tempted to have a go at an Ork Junktown version.
Brilliant.. love this, and cant wait to see the add ons you spoke of. You are def my favourite crafter/modeller on youtube...everything you build always has an original twist and looks so good and is so playable... 😁👍
I used to work in a vending machine factory and I used a caulking gun every day. Had no idea you could release the pressure with that lever
This dude ever enter diaroma competitions?
I cant even express how much you inspire me!
this guy looks like if tom hardy did arts and crafts
You need to put some pock marks up along the tops of the walls, so it looks like the enemy has been shooting at the troops on the walls. Just a thought.
Yeah, i played around with some damage on one of the sections and wasnt happy with how it looked, but i will figure it out
Yessss! And look how your channel has grown....I’m so proud of ya, lad 🤙🏼. Devastation of Baal was such a good novel. Guy Haley is a sleeper champ of the BL books.
Nice new cutting mat! Did you get any other sweet hobby loot from Santa?
Dude, those terrain shots are next level! I can’t believe how good they look
Thanks Franky!! I’m slowly learning some tricks!!
Can’t believe I’ve only just found this channel !! Top ideas and great work. Now subscribed 👍
Firstly, this is a great project! Simple yet elegant. Also, I have noticed a significant improvement in the production of this episode. Excellent work!
A hellish portal has opened from the Shrine of Chaos and legions of damned horrors march forth to claim your terrain
always love your builds! Good job!
Nice build! I would like to compliment you, the way you are making these videos is getting better and better. You have a natural and relaxed way of presenting, keep up the great work!
Oh - I'm sorry - did I break your concentration ? :)
Vaya tengo un tiempo viendo los vídeos y cada vez me sorprende más esas habilidades de crear cosas fantásticas.... 👍😁
such a good video with such obvious love put into it thank you sir instant subscribe.
You make a good Job , well done . Greetings from Germany.
You mean there's no reason to utilise the word, right?
j/k (obviously!) but I think there is a subtle difference between 'use' and 'utilise'! For example, you used grey paint and a brush to paint the walls on this build. But 'utilise' might be more appropriate for something like a ball of tinfoil adding texture to foam - that isn't the intended use for tin foil, so you kind of created a new utility for it? Anyway, just trying to make my linguistics degree worth slightly more than the paper it's printed on here! In other news, love this build!
Night Lords add on is easy, just put up some gargoyles for the edgy bois to perch on.
That and more!!! You will see :)
Also, don't forget to put some heads on pikes. Knight Lords are totally into that stuff.
A few skinned corpses and grizzly trophies to scar the local population into order...so yeah basically any medieval lord and his castle is night lords themed .
AH! Seeing the different layouts with that modularity is so satisfying
Imagine utilizing the word utilize. Couldn't be me
The "TOM HARDY" of minies dioramas!
Lets settle this once and for all.
_Do you pronounce it Baal or Baal?_
When you said "speaking of sand" it reminded me of an article which I just read the other day about 'Why the world is running out of sand'. Something I was completely unaware of. Considering sand would be one of the main ingredients for basing minis (and ones from the future, 40k) it would make worlds in the 40k universe that have high quantities of quality sand highly desirable for the likes of the 'Imperium of Man' to enable them to build new cities etc. > Anywho... here's the link. Very interesting read... www.bbc.com/future/article/20191108-why-the-world-is-running-out-of-sand Now back to the video :)
Looks awesome man, massive board full too! Great work, and nice to see you back 😀
This is CRAZY COOL! So impressed. My dream to make something like this.
How did you do the modular removable parapet walls? Are they fastened in any way?
Make sure to utilize that like and subscribe button. Haha
I think this could be pretty great to go with my Imperial Guard
100%
The thought occurs that you could make this piece compatible with loads of different factions (Imperial and Chaos ones, anyway) just by making several different doorway sections with different iconography (plus add-ons, but we know Eric's making a bunch of those already).
1:18 well I just went from six to midnight
I probably bought this compass after watching your channel haha. Legend
Hope you're doing well, Wyloch!
Eric, you did a great job, again! I really get so much inspiration and help for my own projects by your work! keep on doing!!!
F*** all the negative mimimis and keep your thoughts positive bright!!!
I don't like sand.
*insert Rogal Dorn quote from TTS here*
Dude, that's so dope! But You know what it needs, tho?... Clip-on features! Reinforced Armor plates to further hide the troops, banner mounts... maybe even platforms !? Loved it as always :) Thumbs up!
Bingo! Already working on clip ons for the next episode!
HOLY SMOKES THIS IS AMAZING!!!! This is high quality content.
Question: can you do a vid on how you store all your terrain?? Having difficulty making the space
Very neat! I like the flexibility and the thinking behind the pile of debris at the breach too. Thanks for sharing this!
Also props for picking Blood Angels ;)
Are there any stairs? I didn't see any in the tutorial.
Missed your videos. mainly because of you and Wyloch I have a pile of 'stuff' that I scavenge from anywhere I can so I can start making some amazing industrial looking terrain. I think that you have some of the best looking stuff out there. Hope to see more from you soon.
Nice! Happy crafting man
12:50 is that a star wars reference ? If yes well played sir.
Badass man! I’m new to the tabletop RPG crafting scene and have just finished my first castle set-a small modular keep, gatehouse, and a series of wall and corner pieces. It was pretty time consuming but worth it. I WAS going to take a break and make some smaller terrain or scatter pieces, but I now I wanna make what you just made lol. Maybe some day! Good job and awesome crafting!
Just got back into the hobby three months ago, painted up a nice looking plague marine squad, and i stumbled across your cardboard tower video and after that I have been hooked. I love your videos, and im well on my way with a list of supplies I want to order from amazon so that I can try myself to make something simple, but with your cool detail technique and ideas. Cant get enough of these, Loving it man, keep it up!
Eric nice job. Thinking I’ll use this build for my space wolves and add rock faces and ice for Fenris
You may enjoy something that is coming :)
I've subscribed to your channel for a awhile. I have to say your modular wall system is the best I've seen. What I like about it is that it's simple enough to replicate and your able to add detail through paint and texture. I just need to figure out how to add stairs to the backside of the wall. Thank you for this build. I look forward to making it.
Stairs on the backside are coming in part 2!
Reposted it to our russian community!
Let's have a go at making a Skull Throne!
BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!11!!!!11!
CHAOSBOMBED
12:52 A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one.
This is really cool, first time I've found your channel, I'll definitely be checking out the other videos.
