Quick Note: The chainsword does move in the accurate direction. The framerate creates a visual illusion making the blades appear to be moving in the wrong direction.
Honestly that's a pretty common optical illusion when it comes to fast moving things like that, regardless of framerate. Have you ever looked at a ceiling fan that was spinning rapidly and if you focused on it one way it was rotating the correct direction, yet the second you focused differently it seemed to go the opposite direction?

Haven't even watched the vid yet and clicked 👍 immediately at the gate. I think about this almost 2X a week...for the past 20yrs. All I got was eye rolls and head shakes when I brought it up and said that one day...someone is going to do it...and if not I will take a crack at it once I retire. The Emperor Protects.
Hey guys! Just a small rant after watching a lot of the videos here and being inspired to do my own Mando helmet(not this video specific but this is the newest one) If youre using the acetone wash with the Bondo.....make sure you dont use a normal kitchen plastic cup the acetone might eat through it and make a whole mess Also when doing your prep and cleanup don't be afraid of doing a lot of filler primer then spot filling, both of them are super easy to sand and if you build up alot of layers you can most of the time get out some really deep imperfections! Finally I HIGHLY recommend getting a small Dremel, I had to do some gluing for my project and the Dremel was really good at cleaning up some of the leaking super glue! Thanks for coming to my TED Talk, thank you GA for inspiring me to take on my project! I'm learning a lot doing it on my own! You guys rock!
Please guys yall need to tag GW and Amazon, also Henry Cavill. That is beautiful they could use them in his up and coming series. I really do hope GW reaches out to you guys. Maybe yall will be able to help create some of helmets and armor. I can see the guy that play Reacher using this lol he would make a perfect Space Marine
Ive always wanted someone like you guys to make a chainsword. Ive been hoping to see a motor from an actual chain saw used, for the whirr. Or maybe the motor from a mini gun that can spin up to super speed. everything is amazing about this make, except the speed of the teeth.
Hey! Great work. Just got into 40k myself, black templars! I've been following your work for a long time now, and I just submitted an application to your company. There weren't a lot of options on glassdoor to submit any extra stuff, but I would be honored to worry with you in any capacity. Looking forward to more videos!
This is my first video i’ve watched by you guys, and I have to say two things.. 1: you guys did really well. 2: I love Jamie’s mix between a standard American accent, Scottish Accent, and Australian accent
This is perfect timing since my replacement printer just showed up, and I was thinking of doing a set of space marine armour so I shall eagerly await that.
Im aware that this comment is a bit late so it probably won't be read by you guys but I'm making a cosplay of the uf-16 inspector armour from hd2, problem is that no one has the actual armour files, you guys have the helmet but not the arm guards and the pauldron, if you have the time it'd be amazing if you could release the rest of the armour set. Thanks, I love your videos, it's how I got into cosplay
In your guys hands it just look like a stubby grip eviscerator chainword but I do love the purity seal text. Blessed be thine machine for it is blessed by the Machine God and its machine spirit brutal yet magnificent.
Alex Geek Workshop has been making these for a little while. He's got a couple different models of chainsword, and a chain axe. 3D printable, and all go vroom.
This is amazing! I've been thinking about jumping into the specialist tier as I just got my first 3d printer a few months ago, but I have a question. Are the files cut up for smaller printers?
Yellow hazard stripes would have worked as well. There is one slight critique... the chain is rotating in the wrong direction. The exposed part of the chain should travel - Tip to Handle, you have it going Handle to Tip. Overall it is a great build
As I am not currently nearly 8’ tall (Geneseed is _still_ back ordered!) I was wondering if the chainsword was scalable to something more Imperial Guard sized? I know it wouldn’t be printable but replacing the resin pommel with one made of cast iron or brass would really improve the balance. I’m willing to bet that a brass skull in near the exact size should be pretty easy to find online. Oh yeah… Subscribed. Y’all had me as soon as RUclips’s algorithm decided that with being subscribed to 30+ Warhammer related channels “chainsword” might be of interest. Easy decision since I’ve been playing 40K since Rogue Trader first arrived here in the States.
I love all of your work!!! I’ve continuously bought your files previously and loved every bit of all of them on Cults3D and Etsy!!! Will you guys be continuing working on the Saw Shield from Doom Dark Ages???
The problem most people tend to ignore is the fact that chainsword teeth are designed for cutting rather than grinding, where the effects on metal would be akin to a bandsaw in action, that being said not only are the teeth incredibly sharp and incredibly durable, but due to the nature of the chainsword, when it hits a target, the teeth are never going to be completely aligned with each other, due to the oscillating nature of the belt system and teeth, meaning that any and all cuts from such a weapon would never be 100% clean unlike a regular blade cut, meaning that as stated earlier, one tooth might be perfectly straight, the next tooth might be tilted slightly to the left whilst the other tooth is tilted more to the right and so on, thus making even anything from a glancing blow incredibly destructive, and whilst in more modern uses such a weapon is incredibly useless due to the lack of hand to hand combat and both a regular sword or even knife would be sufficient enough to kill another human, that being said when dealing with more tougher and much larger and stronger opponents say a rhinoceros or an elephant or in sci fi settings a termanid or Zerg would be ideally better suited for a chainsword, due to the lack of actual strength required to produce similar results with just a regular sword, not to mention that chainswords are actually pretty cheap, in 40K terms where if a blade were to ever get damaged or bent, then the whole blade has to be replaced or the whole sword would have to be thrown away, compared to say the resources and cost in making a power sword which can basically cut through just about anything due to its ability to disrupt whatever it’s cutting into at a molecular structure, thus allowing for a regular person to even cut through space marine power armor, unlike lightsabers that use plasma and immense amounts of energy to cut through a target as seen in the phantom menace where quigon is cutting his way through a ships blast doors, a power sword would’ve simply cut into pieces like most scenes in anime where a skinny highschool girl is able to cut a tank into pieces 😂
Can you make Nero’s Red Queen now? That seems like a good challenge. I once tried to do it with a friend and it was…not great. We tried to mount a little twostroke onto a sword but it made too much vibration and just broke apart and messed up the blade. Maybe an electric motor would fare better?
You need to do the sword some justice and show it off more please. So much work and effort into the details and functionality and I didn't see enough of the finished product in working action😢
while it look super awesome it does look quite big for us normal humies to wield, like i know its meant for space marines and such but normal humans use chainswords too only they are smaller and better to wield. it probably would be smarter and better to make a smaller chainsword intended for normal, imperial guard humans to use. you can`t really swing a space marine size chainsword around without tipping over due to the weight and length of the sword. so making an smaller version would probably be better, but hey done is done and it looks great how it came out and the purity seal actually having readable text is such cool thing to add, all that remains is to pray to the machine spirit within the sword and have incense burn while you`re at it. hoping for more 40k related builds and some builds used by the smaller normal kind of human that play a huge part of the 40k setting, like lasguns or even plasma/melta gun! great build guys and i await to see what you create next. and remember, the emperor protects.
To echo some other comments I saw, can you guys work on your sound mixing? I found that i had to keep turning the volume up to hear you speak and then down for the music
Quick Note: The chainsword does move in the accurate direction. The framerate creates a visual illusion making the blades appear to be moving in the wrong direction.
Just like wheels appearing to be running backwards at certain speeds.
I was going to say, that looked a little wrong there on the reveal.
I was really hoping to see a hype reek of the finished sword. We want to see it working and take in the paint job!
