- A coworker brought in a Jonsered chainsaw and told me it hadn't run in a while. Lets take a look and see whats needed to get this saw back into the woods. #smallenginerepair
Another great video, those are saws worth savings.
Agreed. Thanks for watching!
That sounded great ,good work as always ,From Norwich England
Thanks for tuning in all the from across the big pond!
Nice Job Brother That Jonsered Sure Looks Like a Re Badged Husqvarna 😎👍🏼 Happy Humpday 😀👍🏼
Husqvarna bought out jonsered
Just pulled my dads 1997 2055 Turbo out from under the workbench , been there for at least 13 years , blew the sawdust off it , pulled out the plug and checked it , threw in some gas , set the choke & pulled the rope , she fired right up. I couldn’t believe it , figured the carb would have been all gummed up.
Wow, Thats impressive!
Nice repair Scott. Geeze, that handle design would not work for me unless I got that saw for free. I kept thinking about getting my Sawzall after it, lol
Ya not a great design. Thanks for watching!
You are very good we're at teaching me I at the moment cleaning and service my walbro carburetor ok cheers Garry Australia
Thanks for watching!
Pre epa sure was great. Fired up and ran right from the cold start. Sharpen the chain, grease the clutch bearing and send it out. Good job on the HDA.
Thanks for watching!
Your videos have taught me a lot is there any reason that used an older style fuel filter?
Its cheap like the coworker that brought it in.
Thanks for showing different models Good job of bringing it back to life.
We sure get our share of different models.
@@TheGreasyShopRag can’t wait until you get a Cub Caddet. I’ll play your videos in the background like its music. Your systematic approach is great. Brains skip over things, something I learned in school.
@@steveriggenbach90 Ya every time I john Wayne a repair I end up going back and correcting something. A mental check list seems to work for me. Thanks for tuning in.
Well done, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Scott I have one of those saws and my air cleaner doesn't have that square opening so maybe that's why the dirt is laying in the air horn
Normally I log into the Husqvarna dealer portal to look at jonsered saws but this model isn't listed. I'm not sure if they had different versions over the years.
Another job done,good work bud
Thanks for watching!
Hey Scott! Been going through a bunch of your videos and I am i.pressed by your troubleshooting abilities.
I'm curious. How many carb kits does your dealer have in stock? Seems like you always have what you need there!
LATER!
Not sure exactly how many but we stock about 20 different zama and 20 different walbro part numbers. Usually we keep 3-6 of each number.
Fuel mix ratios and older saws VS newer saws is sort of a 3 hour Jerry Springer Show arguement. My old Homelite was supposed to be broken in with a 16:1 mix and the oil was regular SAE 30 non-detergent. Smoked like Yellowstone and fouled the plug and exhaust port/muffler on day one of use. You could use Homelite oil of that vintage, drum roll; also 30W non-detergent at 32:1 and that was better. Then "One Mix" came along and that was better, but we always added some extra as we did not trust the "magic". Now, all is 50:1 with Echo Red Armour, including the 50+ Y/O Honelite; no problems.
That sums it up quite well. I didn't want to get into any of that and create an oil war!
On a Gold Wing forum it is now considered laughable to start or participate in an oil thread.@@TheGreasyShopRag
@@rooster3019 Lol, I believe it! How about putting car tires on a bike? OR, do loud pipes save lives?
@@TheGreasyShopRag Although my 2018 Gold Wing is as quiet as can be, it does sport a 205/55R 16 Yokohama Avid Envignor "car tire". Great on these twisty mountain roads for spirited riding.
@@rooster3019 Yes but what kind of oil do you use?
Bless Just enjoy every video. Thanks 😊
Thanks for watching!
I’ve had that metering diaphragm hole problem happen to me maybe 2 or 3 times now. Probably just multiple kits if I remember correctly
If I had ordered that kit and waited a week for it to show up only to be wrong then maybe I'd investigate further. You're probably right.
It’s a shame that Husqvarna quit making Jonsered just recently! Good repair that’ll last him another 10 years before it needs another carb kit!🤣
Yep, once every ten years whether it needs it or not!
Did you ever determine if the metering diaphram was assembled incorrectly or the carb kit was the problem?
I have to assume the kit was the problem because the saw has been in use for a while now without complaints.
Off topic question Scott, but what octane fuel and or oil do you prefer and use in shop. Thanks
We use non ethanol pump gas and FD rated oil of any brand.
👍👍🤠
did you make your carburetor holding tool
Yes, its just a piece of anfle iron and two short rods.
Sure don't see jonsered saws much any more 1:11
Around here we never ever saw many.
