  • In a recent video I talked about how some work orders don't contain enough information. Thats not the case with this Husqvarna 55 chainsaw where the owner wrote me a detailed letter. #smallenginerepair

The "secret code" made me laugh. I still hand write my work orders at the tree company (2 days a week). The new girl in the office said oh, you write in cursive like my Mom. Honestly, if her Mom didn't still write in cursive, I would have had to "print" the work orders for her. It's like the theft deterrent vehicles with manual transmissions. BTW I haven't seen a metering lever worn that bad in a while.

@@richardflagg3084 I'm starting to see some writing that is kind of a blend between print and cursive. It will be gone someday.

At 9:54 in the video Scott says "I'm going to take the high and low jets out of here, and I'm going to blow some carb cleaner through them". Aye, this bring back fond memories of rebuilding my Walbro WYK-353 rotary carburetor from my Shindaiwa C242 brushcutter. After removing the Hi-Jet needle, I aggressively blew in pressurized carb cleaner and heard a pop and then the sound of something small landing in a pile of brown leaves (working outside). What the heck was that? Well I learned more than I wanted to about yet another carburetor part, and I hade to order the replacement jet kit, which set me back one week of getting back to weed-eating.

I have worked on a few of these 55 models for friends and they are a sweet saw. I ended up getting a really nice shape 51 locally and it is a great saw. Thanks for sharing!

Another great fix, Scott 👍🏼. This one took a little bit more to repair. Luckily you had the donor saw.

Sometimes it pays to keep that old stuff around. I'm still surprised I didn't have the one I needed in those two buckets.

Nice repair Scott. I still have an old 55 like that. They were/are really good farm & ranch saws when they are sharp and running good. Laaaaaaater

A clean saw to work on is nice. It blows my mind how people drop off these filthy saws or equipment to be repaired. If I bring my vehicle in for service or repair I wash the engine Bay area so they have a clean engine to work on. I also want them to be able easily see anything wrong.
