You always certainly had good things to say about the usefulness of the blue saw after the initial glitches got worked out. My 395 has quickly become one of the saws that I tend to grab and want to run.

Yup, its a game changer I'm afraid. Proves the "Blue" ones can actually work, all for under $400 bucks. And it's one of those saws that defies numbers and conventional logic. Heavy, Aftermarket..... all those negatives BUT works really really well :)

Good video. I enjoy the old saws I ran back in my younger years.

I don’t use mine much, just a hobbyist and I own a business smoking food.. I’d love a 254 , but I’ve had my 272 for 7 years and boy I love it

    I've never run a 154, but I have a ported 254xp and I love it. I also run a 257 converted to a 262xp and a 261. I love them all.

First year for the 262 was 1990. My dad got a 1990 husqvarna magazine and it was featured in there for being a new saw for 1990 along with the 3120.

Had a 154 for few years. Just too old now to fight the compression to start it. Sold it and back to my 455 with decomp valve. I'm 75. Still logging firewood.

Get a 550, will out cut that 455 and weigh less

Walt, how many cords do you burn through in a season? Just curious. I have 20 saws and don't really burn much of anything lol. Just love to tinker.

    • @afleetcommand

between 7 and 10 full cords. When I get the fire wood in, then I'll see if I need to produce some for sale. If not back to the woods to harvest more over mature maples this fall

i have a 254 ported that love, à stock 262 mm and a ported strong 268xp(closed port ) , a 372xpg oe. the 254 is the one i use the most , the 372is the one i use only if need the heated handle. the 254 is almost as strong as my 262 so it's a no brainer, it just vibrate a little bit more than my 262. The 268 is a strong chassis

I put 261 rear handles and spring AV buffers on my 254's. Very smooth.
I agree with you that they are really nice saws with good power.

As far as the axes go you’ve just got to remember that every job needs to different tool just like in the automotive world.

I have a 154 that i ported and put a larger carb and manifold on, it's a monster. But the weight to hp ratio is still bad looking at 592 that does not weight that much more.

How does the muff mod perform on the 154 with all the holes drilled in it? I always thought you'd lose some fuel charge having the exit(s) right in the center like that.

Might be nice to have a little trailer for that side by side. Fewer trips in the woods

    • @afleetcommand
      @afleetcommand  Месяц назад +1

not about efficiency & the pita part of a trailer in the tight stuff kind of takes away even the practical theoretical advantage. I have one, don't use it; like things right as they are. Gives me a reason to spend more , not less time out in the woods :)
