Kerry Drake I’m looking at getting a 15 Quattroporte could you please explain how much maintenance cost is? That’s one of the only thing I’m worried about
Ron, nice videos. Regarding the new car (4 year/50k mile) and CPO warranties, I believe you meant to say that the clock starts from the “in-service” date, rather than the manufacture date. Depending on when those cars were first sold/put in service, the CPO warranty should add several more months (or even years) beyond the expiration dates you mentioned. Even better for the future owners!
You may be right D Mac. I just know as far as annual service goes that the car will tell you that it needs to be serviced based on manufacture date and not from when its sold. So say I bought a new car that sat for 11 months, on the 12th month (even though i've only driven it for 1 month) I'll get the notification that it needs to be in for its first annual service since the manu date was 12 months ago. I thought it worked like that but I'll double check. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.
People think maintaining a Mercedes or a BMW is expensive. Let me introduce you to my friend Maserati, where everything breaks more often and faster than German vehicles. Don’t buy a car out of warranty? I could buy a 94 Honda with 200k miles it’ll run like a clock while a Maserati breaks every other day
What about military people that got shipped overseas and now Maserati does not want to honor my warranty on the vehicle. Maserati does not support the troops
Great video, people generally criticize and are put off used cars as was i. But since working at Audi (UK) i have since realised they go through so many tests to even get on the pitch. Mileage check / HPI checks and MPC checks. Not to mention the warranty. Thanks for the video as this gives a clear site of what to expect from buying a used Maserati
I think you may be mistaken on the unlimited miles I'm in the market for a used Quattroporte and asked multiple dealers about the warranty and extended warranty and they all expressed that at 50k done... if you know where I can get the unlimited warranty please let me know.
I know we have it for our certified cars. My managers make it a point to remind us to tell customers. You should be able to even look this info up online on the official Maserati website.
Whatever you buy your responsible for regardless of the price. If you want something, get it and pay whatever you have to maintain it. If you dont want to spend the money to maintain a Maserati, then obviously shouldnt be buying a Maserati in the 1st place. If maintenance bothers you, go buy a honda civic. You asked a very rhetorical question.
Gabriel G I’m thinking of getting one next week. Your not buying a Maserati because it’s on sale for a good price as if maintaining it is like your shitty Toyota. Morning Ron Thanks great info here should help a lot of people on the boarder between new and used. Only question if the warranty is in limited miles why only 2 years more from build date. What I’m saying is if they are willing to go unlimited mile why not start the time when you take delivery or just call it what it is extended, 2 years beyond factory. Because if someone tells me I’m getting a 6 Year Warrenty with the deal that means to me 6 years from today.
Right, I totally understand, I think it that sense Maserati has to make a little bit of money and a lot of money made by dealerships is in service. I think giving THAT good of a deal may hurt the service departments.
These cars are for wealthy people. Wealthy people can buy them new, cause they are rich. They can buy them used, because they can afford to repair and service them. These are not cars for people who can't afford the entire package. Sadly, seems like only people who shouldn't own one, but like the looks....end up buying a used one. Then they are screwed.
Ron, thank you for the video! I am looking at a 2018 Granturismo MC with 31k miles for $85k. Good deal if the service records and pre scan report checks off?
I bought a used GT for 30k. had 14k miles on it and not one problem. I just had the 25k service at a Mazi dealership for 3,500. The tire sensor light is on and they quoted me a price of 1,800 to replace em..LOL
Awesome content, I have been thinking about a Maserati for my next car. I am in Jersey any advice? Do you guys sell to out of state buyers? And does it make a difference from one state to another considering we get snow up here.
This explanation was very dressed up and generic. Can you get into more details into everything? You literally spent 10 minutes going in circles about the sticker and nothing about inspections.
Hi Ron, how often have you hit the rev limiter on your car? I noticed you like to get the RPM up above 5500 before shift as well. I've hit the rev limiter a few times. 1st time worried me. I read up on it and was not so worried after that, but I avoid doing it because the limiter could fail.
Yes it has a pretty good warranty, but what’s the use if owner going to be doing monthly payments on the car only to have it sitting at dealership for repairs! .... owners find themselves paying all this money only to end up driving lower class rental cars while their Maseratis are constantly being fixed at the dealership.
Are there any mechanical improvements in the 2016 model from the 2014 and '15 models? Or would I need to wait for a later model to bypass a few of the headaches from the older models such as brakes etc?
I would say to be safe and go with a used 17' if you can find it. While the 14 and 15 models were full of problems, the 16's had a few issues as well. But with a pre-owned first gen model, those problems were probably fixed during inspection and annual services. So you may be in good shape.
@@RonsRidesgreat video. I’m thinking of purchasing a 2016 and would love to know what I need to look for , ask and what is a definite no deal breaker. I’m non ended that the dealer isn’t offering any warranty but with it being 8 years old can I get extended warranty outside of the dealer

That's a nice informative video, Ron. Lots to think about; especially considering the fact certified cars are worth a substantial amount more than those that aren't. But I remember you saying in another video that a Ghibli S service costs like $400 - so considering a non-certified car (as you stated) could cost several thousand dollars less, is it worth buying a certified car, bearing in mind a few check ups will certainly cost less than $7k?
$350 for the 1st & 2nd annual services. But when you get to the 3rd service is really you really spend the big bucks and since the $7k is factored into the price of the vehicle, its not money you'd have to spend up front but monthly, unlike if something breaks and you need all of the cash right then and there.
Most Maserati Ferrari dealers will put a cpo on used Maserati's that they take in but if you buy a Maserati from say maybe a BMW dealership off of trade in or somewhere of that nature, they will most likely sell the cars without the cpo warranties.
That was a really good video. I've been looking into a pre owned Ghibli and I'm still doing my research and comparing it to other cars but this video was very helpful.
