The car delivers all of that in spades, so it lives up to its intentions and promise. This is a luxury/sports hybrid, like a BMW, but whereas the BMW puts the emphasis on luxury, this Maserati puts the emphasis on sport, and your 5.5 second 0-60 mph rating, along with the astounding top speed you mentioned puts it at excellent performance. I have the S model with 404 horsepower vs your 345 horsepower and my top speed is an insane 170 mph. If you like that idea, here's your car. You don't make mention of the most oft quoted fact of this car, which is that the motor is designed and manufactured by Ferrari, and getting a car with a Ferrari engine for even $80K, come on, what more do you want dude? My car has the shifter paddles and I use them all the time. Unlike cheaper systems that are mounted to the steering wheel, these are mounted on the steering stalk where they are always in the same place, right where you need them, and they are rock solid and sturdy. I honestly didn't understand what you were complaining about the buttons on the back of the steering wheel, but any trashing of the paddle shifters is unfounded. Also the German made ZF eight speed automatic transmission is a miraculous accomplishment in human history, is highly respected, and that one or other ZF models are used in most all high performance and luxury cars. Any denigration of that transmission is also unfounded. I can agree on some of your thoughts about the look of the cockpit, but at 170 mph do I really care? BMWs are fabulous cars. I've had four BMWs and loved them all. BMW also has plenty of hate you can find on the internet, they aren't as good as one might wish at the price they charge. My BMW friends were teasing me "Yeah, Larry used to be a Beemer guy. Now he looks down on us." I said "No, Beemer is a fabulous car. I love Beemers. But....I could never go back." The Benz interior is not as nice as the Beemer, never has been and I guess never will be. The Benz you showed still reflects qualities of the former industrial, non-luxury, tank like mentality of Benz's of the past. Some of the elements in that interior are present in my 1999 Benz, they haven't modernized as well as has BMW since way back. The interior of the Ghibli is fine, that car is all about the motor dude. Also the rims of the S model are like sparkling jewels, very very nice. Finally, let's be honest, people buy these expensive cars to show off, for their family, their friends, their co-workers, for themselves. Such people could buy a Toyota, or a Lexus, or a Camaro, but they want something with more pizzaz. In that deparment nothing, absolutely nothing, can come close to competing with a Maserati at the $80K price point. To get that cachet for that price is a bargain and a privilege and a life altering purchase, don't even mention snaring one with 5000 miles for half that price.
I dont understand...you said steering doesnt feel sporty enough but the suspension doesnt feel lux enough? So which one do you want lux or sport? Also e class and 5 series drop even more than that and interior of bmw feel really cheap to me...this segment is all the same in depreciation
Hi Comella, thank you for the comment. What I meant was that the feedback from the steering wheel didn't have the sporty feel that I was expecting. I personally would prefer to have a heavier and tighter feel. Since the steering is less sporty, I thought the Ghibli would bring more lux but then suspension has the stiffness of a sports sedan, which was a bit confusing to me at the time this video was shot. The car was nimble thanks to the suspension, but the steering didn't satisfy me. Overall, I think the Ghibli, at least this one, did not have a clear placement of what kind of car it wanted to be. And lastly, I agree that cars in this segment generally face similar depreciation.
Stumbled into this video as I was looking for reviews about the Ghibli. I like how comprehensive you are about your review. Subscribing to your channel now. Keep up the good work, mate!
Your doing a new car review on a car that is four years old. It's a $30k first generation used car. It would have been more helpful to talk about the car's current maintenance requirements instead of rehashing old talking points on why the Ghibli sucked as an $80+ car.
I have had 3 Maserati's. The main reason the price drops is the maintenance, after 3-4 years the car starts to fall apart. Everything will cost $3K to $5K to fix. You have spend around $5K to $8K a year to just drive around 8K-10K miles a year. Lease only never buy. You can get them cheap zero down for $549 a month at dealers in LA (don't put money down), their is nothing special about this car or any Maserati for that matter. Sales have fallen from 46K units a few years go to under 10K this year. They have no innovation, technology, or new models coming, they don't care so why would you. If you buy any Maserati you will be disappointed, even when you sell you will lucky to get $20K. I sold my first QP to auto nation for $22K after buying it used for $67K with only 1,200 miles after 4 years. My friend paid $85K new for his and sold for $28K 4 years later, don't waste your money folks.
Ghibli interior looks BETTER than the BMW 5-series and the Mercedes shown. What are you talking about? In fact, I disagree with most of the opinions in this video. The ride, acceleration, steering, and especially braking are all very good. I don't think this guy knows much about automotive engineering and performance. The ONLY knock on the Ghibli is expense of ownership and gas mileage... but hey if you can afford to buy it, you can afford to maintain and fuel it.
Wouldn't have purchased a 2015... Not enough updates after its major reintroduction in 2014.. Maserati was still working out the bugs. The 2018 Maserati Ghibli, for example, received a significant mid-cycle refresh, including a restyled exterior with new bumpers and grille, upgraded power on the S trim with 424 horsepower, a new electric power steering system, added advanced driver assistance features, and two new trim levels: the luxury-oriented GranLusso and the sporty GranSport
I have driven my friend's brand new 2017 model. Yup the interior is quite mono type. Step on the gas and the car roars beautiful. The trick is in the exhaust flap opening up when car is pushed. Tried the standstill dash and was impressed with the sprint. Of course, it's 3 litre and performs great like any other car of this capacity.
I love my Ghibli Sq4 , the interior and technology can be better but you buy the car for the sound and performance !! Wherever I go with my Maserati I get a lot of compliments and respect

dude the plastic buttons behind the wheel are for volume and tune....not for shifting. For the base model, the padel shifters only come with the sport pkg and it wouldn't surprise me at all seeing this car has none of the pkgs when the owner added this fake decal lol. It would be more gorgeous to add a "turbo" decal on someone's 911 i think.
I was aware of the functionality of the buttons, they were worth pointing out because it was a disappointment not to have those pedals in this car (only available in the sports pkg, really Maserati?). And oh I have also seen "GT3" decals on base 911s lol.
I think you tried to scroll on a menu that didn't have enough menu items to scroll on. But yes in general this is a FCA parts bin car. I have a Giulia QV and RAM 1500... Between the two I can build a Ghibli.
Honestly the interior designs do color you can select your self and it looks and feels really good with the red color and looks a bit more expensive and you might not like your because it’s a cheaper option on it.
Ghibli is designed by Maserati and built in Modena Italy by Ferrari. Ghibli Maserati is a 6 cycl car with Ferrari F160 (Google it) built engine 425 hp with a speed 0-60 4.7 sec. That can go to 180 mph.......The window switch 2518200110 was a part of Daimler/Chrysler from (1998-2007) $65- $144dollars. The switch is in the Mercedes ML350, ML450, ML550 for example and also in the Mercedes-Benz ML320, ML63, AMG and also again, still used in today’s Chrysler/fiat cars. So, the Maserati Window Switch is the same as the Mercedes Benz part that was passed on to Chrysler/Fiat cars. ..........so who “really owns” the window switch? Modern Maserati are built in Ferrari plant. So, in comparison a Ferrari window switch is $450 dollars before a dealer get a chance to working on it. So give me the FCA switch any day and the can find one window switch of a Dodge Dart in 20 years from now.😉 Instead of having the dealer keeping the car for 60 days because they can not find a switch anywhere on planet Earth. The car roars from a Ferrari built engine. * Even the oil filter is by Ferrari Ghibli Transmission shift quality. The 8HP transmission from German supplier ZF is quick enough to serve sports cars and graceful enough for large luxury sedans, and it combines those elements of speed and smoothness whether it’s installed in an Aston Martin, a Rolls-Royce, or a Jeep. You have a base model with no paddle shifters and no four wheel drive that does not compare to the to the maserati magic of the top of the line car. Also, lastly the entertainment monitor/system is by Chrysler installed by Ferrari and one of the best in the industry.
I owned an sq4 and added a novitec package and still sucked. Ive has 55 amg's 63 AMG's, m3's, m6', Porsche 911 gt4, and plenty of everyday luxury cars. I made the car LOOK good blacking all chrome. Doing door handles and side mirrors car color along with the original black side skirts and rear diffuser leaving just the middle black along w blacking the pipes on a grey car with black 22' split 5 star rims. Red calipers on red leather took that ugly ghibli emblem off the rear and the radio and put a small maserati emblem from the 4200 on the radio. Was lightly tinted and had it up to 503hp. And it still felt cheap from American parts esp w the screen of a dodge. Didn't feel like a real maserati. The sound is nothing like the gt. Being I'd owned 1 b4 this and got another again after, if u never owned the true 100% Italian maserati then u wouldn't even compare or say this is an exotic. The gt is exotic. This is just a car that's made by a company that makes an exotic. This car is shit. Sports cars are not supposed to have all the tech and are supposed to enjoy the car. A "luxury" should, this is in between as they claim. But is a joke of a car. And majority of ppl that get then buy used and don't make them look good. Factory its ugly but u can make it LOOK good. Most buy cheap they try to drive like they are rich in a shit ghibli they paid 30k for and if something goes wrong it will break them financially. Maserati embarrassed themselves w this. Should a stuck w the quattro, gt, and brought the alfieri in. Period.
Check out the video at 0.39 but I saw it at other times too. The front passenger door has been damaged at some time and had a bad paint job. Doesn't match the rest of the car.
I have owned many Maserati before: Quattroporte, Ghibli, Cambiocorsa, Gran Turismo....I can tell you people who buy Maserati they don't care about the interior, it is all about buying a lifestyle and classic Italian alternatives...if you have been a loyal customer to Maserati then you should know the interior and powertrain/transmission have been improved dramatically. I don't mind having a Ghibli as long as it's not my primary car, I would love to have a Ghibli as daily and MC20 as a weekend car. The Ghibli won't give you all the perks unless you get the Trofeo version, the base model is more like a entry level Maserati. It depreciates fast but even today if you walk into a showroom, chances are the Ghibli on display is still for sale more than $140K
um i think the stats at 4:20 are wrong, those stats were for the basic trim and the one you were driving/reviewing was the Ghibli S Q4 (the most expensive trim)
Nut: shifting paddles have always been an option on all the Ghiblis but this option is not mandatory at all, once you got used to all the auto shift modes : on such clever ZF 8 HP gearbox and behind a low inertia torque instant response prime mover, frankly you no longer use them. All cars kept in a good condition hold their value pretty well, almost all ones, but this one had obviously the wrong options from the start so this wrekage was abused from the beginning. Since i bought mine two other persons who tested it bought one new as well and globally over the last five years we all three had no meaningfull product issues whatsoever to report on those Ghiblis, on our others cars yes. Just got for someone a New GLC, pricy, unergonomical and it globally stinks in comparaison, so your Demouro type bashing on the interior finish doors gag and others details, that is just insane : smooth quite and confortable, just drive it instead of counting insignifiant points just because they are different and better than those of a german station wagon.
You think it should be obvious to the viewer, but I don't hear anything cheap about the sound of the trunk closing, nor do I think anyone has ever passed on or even downgraded any car because of the sound of closing the trunk. What is it about the trunk that doesn't sound good to you? I own this car for over three years and I never noticed anything out of order, as far as closing the trunk goes, nor have I ever thought that about any car I ever owned, nor can I even imagine how a trunk could sound cheap. I'd like to hear you explain to me what is the problem you detect, i'm thinking you can't, but as soon as I say that the license plate rattles on closing, you're going to say "Yeah, that's what I meant." So honestly, on my car the license plate only attaches with two screws at the top rather than four. If those screws are not tightened down properly the license plate will rattle when closing and, yes, I find it highly annoying. Getting those tight might be challanging. I don't know why, but there are four mounting holes at the top, at different offsets. I guess that is to accommodate license plate of varying hole spacings. The wider of those holes have a machine thread that looks as if it may be sturdy. The inner two have a nylon insert that receives the screw, and nylon threads strip easily, especially when you're trying to get something nice and tight. On my car one of those nylon nuts is stripped, so I can't get my Texas plate tight and it rattles. I fixed it and for a while it was tight and closed without rattling and oh, I loved it. Then it got loose again and now I can't get it tight. There's no foreseeable way to get replacement nylon inserts, so fixing it is challenging. I am going to the dealership next week to see if they can supply the nylon inserts, but if past experience is any guide, they may not. Those license plate fastening systems always seem to be a manufacturer's afterthought.
Thanks for your honest review of this car and I'm kinda curious what do people see in this car. Its not a car I would pay for that price. All Ive been hearing from people are constant complaints about noises that are just coming from everywhere.
My friend leased one and returned it the lease ended. It was less expensive too lease than a 3 series BMW or a C class. You can buy a used C300 or Ghibli for about the same price and it’s a faster engine but may not be as reliable

Thank you for such a nice comment! My newer videos are all much better made than this one. Be sure to check them out if you are interested.
Your doing a new car review on a car that is four years old. It's a $30k first generation used car. It would have been more helpful to talk about the car's current maintenance requirements instead of rehashing old talking points on why the Ghibli sucked as an $80+ car.
ALFJAMXA James That’s exactly what I thought this video was going to be about 😂😂😂
Hey guess what? The new 80k car is not far off from this one. At all.
For sure
Still a beautiful car. Thumbs up.
VERY nice review..Im impressed with the fluidity and plesantly well informed flow and delivery. And VERY professional. THANK YOU.🙏
Thank you for watching and commenting!
My apologies for an unwashed car that bothered so many people. This car was received the very last second of the day ( I was supposed to film the i8 but that did not work out well that day) and there was a very limited time to film the video. I hope you understand. I will keep working on making good contents for Y'all. Thank you.
Hi everyone! My new video is here. I have taken many criticisms and suggestions and am happy to share my latest review with you all:

Love your videos man
Does it have an AUX jack?
Basically the Asian version of Doug lol
Good job on the video my friend! You are a good auto journalist.
Thank you! Please watch my newer videos if you are interested, they are much better made.
This channel is underrated
It's cool but you should try a 2019 Gransport model, nothing like the older MY and way more fun to drive ;)
I would love to! I heard the 2019 model is really different.
You can't afford a Maserati stop lying. I'm sure you drive a Oldsmobile from the 1970's
@@mannyp5528
Can’t afford a Maserati? Lol these things are dime a dozen cars. I’m sure that even a college student with a good part time salary can afford one. XD
Great video buddy!
Nice video man keep it up I subscribed !
Thank you so much for this video. I was looking for a car in my price range and it was this car only a 2014. I do not buy for brand name at all I truly have not much knowledge on that. I need reverse, drive and a transmission and drivetrain with no existing defects. I like compact cars.
What I was wanting was a Maserati 2014 Ghibli S Q4 Sedan 4D for 123K it reminds me kinda of cars I used to have (Not same Brand or close too) I want the car to be about this size and drive I have no intention of making money just getting me to school and work. What do you think? Thanks for your time! Any feedback will be appreciated.
This is why I prefer the 2018 models and up. Despite all the hate it gets, I have an odd liking for this car.
Enzdude even my 2017 model has 0 problems so far after 2 and half years. I love my car. The hate for the Chrysler window switch and shift knob is ridiculous. They act like the whole car uses Chrysler parts.
Your the best do not give up!
Nice job on the video !
Can you buy this car? Or are you just confusing the mind? It is the most beautiful vehicle and with the most beautiful sound that exists in the V6
most beautiful sound in a v6? you obviously never heard of a ford gt 🤣
Great video! 👍
Thank you!
Good review. There is a Ferrari/ Maserati dealer by me that has a thousand Ghiblis' just parked there.....They cant give them away. Now the Quadraporta ( big sedan) is a truly beautiful car along with the Gran Tourisimo (2 door sport)
$80k no. But at $30k… it’s a deal!! 👌🏼
So im lookin at a camouflaged 2014 maserati but it got 130k miles but only $20k. I wanna buy it specifically to put on turo… is that not smart? Lol i aint seein good reviews on this car😭
@@trevey16 what did you do? Any updates?
@@fnaftronline5025 never got any responses besides a homie tellin me Masi engines aint foreign engines but made by Honda or somethin. I forgot, it was gone within a couple of days. Couldve been a good investment. If only I knew about cars
Damn... Thank you for the response!
Excellent video bro
Thank you!
5K oil changes and 100k/7 year coolant flushes make a Maserati have 100k+ trouble-free miles. What makes owning a Maserati worth the maintenance costs is the exhaust sound, leather quality, seat comfort, and performance. I have sat in a 2017 Maserati and the seats are the comfiest.
You just got a subscriber man! Kepe it man!!

Very nice review about pros and cons. I'm still loving Maserati
You said it very well. I almost thought you were reading off my mind. Great video.

Bro do you live in San Gabriel? That street looks a lot like one that I used to live close by.
Just made a day trip to San Gabriel for the video :)
Great review brother!!!!!
dude the plastic buttons behind the wheel are for volume and tune....not for shifting.
I love your honesty!👏
I think you tried to scroll on a menu that didn't have enough menu items to scroll on.
But yes in general this is a FCA parts bin car. I have a Giulia QV and RAM 1500... Between the two I can build a Ghibli.
You can find one now with approx 56k miles for about $17-$19 k. That’s a great price for this nice looking car. But maintenance is expensive
So give me the FCA switch any day and the can find one window switch of a Dodge Dart in 20 years from now.😉
Instead of having the dealer keeping the car for 60 days because they can not find a switch anywhere on planet Earth. The car roars from a Ferrari built engine.
* Even the oil filter is by Ferrari
Ghibli Transmission shift quality.
Period.
The Best.....Italiano baby
The engine is built by ferrari. Not the car
Sorry, what is a CPO?
I thought it was a very well done video. Nice job
If I am not mistaken the Maserati uses a Ferrari engine or is it only on the 6 cylinder ghiblis?
um i think the stats at 4:20 are wrong, those stats were for the basic trim and the one you were driving/reviewing was the Ghibli S Q4 (the most expensive trim)
No he was in a FAKE S Q4, he said that. The AWD S Q4 is a different animal than the base model this review is on. IMO
that's great, I'm thinking of getting one..
The front passenger door is a different color white. Weird.
*"When You Try To Make A Status Symbol Instead Of A Good Car"*
Love What You Said Right There
Great vid bro.
Thank you!
It's not the car , is the high maintenance intervals. The brakes and tires every 6 months and the pricey oil change every 10k
@cali budz yes. Sometimes even 3 months because The pads are like Ferrari and lambos, very thin since these cars are not daily drivers so be aware
Maserati breathes
This guy : im about to end ur whole career
What do you think about alfa romeo giulia QV?
Haven't driven one, but tried the 280HP version. Terrible backseats, lovely handling and paddles. I can imagine the QV being more engaging.
I liked the review I found one the same year same price and had suspicions. Thanks for the review
Good review. Very in depth
They’ve always been tinny and outfitted with cheap plastics. That’s part of what makes it a Maserati.
you just earned yourself a sub!

That's a really nice car!
Why did you review such an old Base Model?
Thanks for your honest review of this car and I'm kinda curious what do people see in this car. Its not a car I would pay for that price. All Ive been hearing from people are constant complaints about noises that are just coming from everywhere.
Thank you.

My friend leased one and returned it the lease ended. It was less expensive too lease than a 3 series BMW or a C class. You can buy a used C300 or Ghibli for about the same price and it’s a faster engine but may not be as reliable
I've always liked the appearance and sound of the Ghibli but I couldn't get past the depreciation rate.
A proper Maserati owner shouldn't be worried about depreciation or maintenance cost, unless he is getting ahead of himself.
@@Isalei84 oh you should definitely worry about maintenance cost
Yeah on the higher end models lol, it’s not Grand Turismo it’s a ghibli lol
