Maserati Ghibli S Q4 | 1 Year Review & Total Cost

- It's been a year since I bought my Maserati and today I go over the one-year cost of ownership for my 2017 Maserati Ghibli S Q4. I go over everything from car payments, insurance payments, to maintenance costs. You may be surprised at just how affordable a Maserati Ghibli is.

Thanks man! I’m buying a 2017 SQ4 this weekend, so excited!
Awesome, congrats! What spec did you go with?
@@CarsLifeYT i got the luxury package, bronzo metallescent with the same leather style you have i believe, black with red stitching and red tridents on the seats
@@fatjoshddr Very nice! The red tridents on the interior is an excellent touch. Hope you have as much luck with yours as I've had with mine, have fun with it!
@@fatjoshddr How's she been holding up so far my friend?
How's it been?
Good review and cost breakdown! One thing to add is the 4th year service which will include some belts. Also, you mentioned brakes, good news is that you have some aftermarket choices now. Keep the videos coming.
Will definitely be considering that for the brakes. Will do, thanks!
Finally a review by a guy with my kind of car philosophy, thank you my man! I am thinking about upgrading from my Jaguar XF to a Ghibli, was considering Quatroporte, but it is just too long. Anyway, nice and honest review, thanks!
No problem! Glad you liked the review. As of today the car has still been quite reliable for me, but I will say some things definitely start to wear down around the 50k mile mark (or so I’m learning). Still love the car, though!
The Quattroporte is exactly 13.1 inches longer than a Ghibli.
Thanks. Looking at some 7-9 year old SQ4 models and seems like that's the sweet spot on depreciation curve.
Why do people pay $500+ for an oil change!??! The Ferrari-spec oil for this car costs about $50. The Maserati brand oil filter is $59. So $109 for materials and that's if you go with the recommended top-tier options! You're really paying a mechanic $400 for 20 minutes of his time? That's $1200 an hour. My Harvard-trained attorney doesn't even charge that much!
@@1robhook the price is really subjective. I don’t do any work on my cars myself and will gladly pay someone else.
I'm with you my man, i've got an Alfa Romeo Stelvio and i do it all my self. These modern italians can be as affordable to own as new honda if people actually did the work them selves! Dealer would charge me $320 for an oil change, i just buy an amzoil oil change kit for $90 and do it my self
I’m also the owner of this car, it was very helpful. Thank you
Good deal as pre owned.... absolutely insane to buy for new sticker.... so many better options at that price point... Nice car.. very good review !
U guys are getting ripped off over there 😮 in Poland it’s around 600$ for a whole year full coverage. Glad you enjoy it thou🫶🏻
my god $3000 a year for insurance. You have one reason right now to enjoy getting older. Cheers. Nice car.
Thank you! My McLaren costs about double that, so in comparison it’s not terrible. At the end of the day, it’s all subjective.
My oil change for my Honda accord was $27.95 today
If only, if only haha
@@darkhorse6770 WTF??? How long do U drive everyday?
@@CarsLifeYT I do it myself
Dodge dealership or any regular local mechanic can do the oil change.
@@SirenaSpades oil reset light can only be reset by a maserati shop around here
It would be great if any of these "total ownership costs" videos just included the price of parts from a supplier and the cost of labor for said parts, rather than "oh I took it to the dealership and they charged a couple grand for this and a couple grand for that".. Using a dealership is not a good price analysis, as their prices are beyond inflated.
I had never heard of vehicle property tax until watching this video. Which blue state do you live in?
Rhode Island. We used to have property tax on vehicles, but we got rid of that a little over a year ago. Didn’t realize that at the time. Never actually ended up paying any for the Maserati.
do you still have it? how is it after all this time
Still have it, still really no issues whatsoever. The only thing now is approaching 46k miles I’ve got an evap leak which is proving to be a pain to fix, but other than that - it’s been a very reliable car. Love it!
@@CarsLifeYT thank you kindly for your content, very helpful ad god luck!
@truthonly7299 just purchased the exact same car with 25k miles for $24k insurance is $140 a month. We'll see.....literally just getting it!
@@joeclark4101 congratulations! good luck to you!!
@@joeclark4101 Congrats! They’re fun cars, hope you have good luck with it!
This is my annual net salary :D
Well, more than that.
But all in all... very pretty car that is fun to drive!
Thank you this is very helpful
I got all new brakes done on my 2017 Maserati SQ4 for like $600 bucks haha, you gotta know what you're doing if you drive these cars
@@LanceGormick Great deal!

Low end Ferrari meet Chrysler mini van parts
Not 80 k car but great buy for 25k ?
@@joeyboombatz6509 Very good buy around that price. Even 40k for something newer is an alright price point. Mine’s been very reliable for the years I’ve had it. Love it!
Thanks for the info!
No problem at all!
I wanna do a full payment of the car to worry only with manutence and taxs by year
How is the car reliability and maintenance
It’s been one of the most reliable cars I’ve owned. That’s not always going to be the case, there’s lemons out there. Usually just have to do the annual maintenance though, that’s about $600.
No issues with the Q4 drivetrain or clutch?
None so far!
is that insurance per month? bro is COOKED. I pay $90 a month for 2 cars full coverage.
@@16BitOG What kind of cars, though and which insurance provider? Both mine are a bit over $800 per month total. Nobody will insure my cars except USAA or Hagerty.
@@CarsLifeYT that's pretty crazy, do you have a bad history or something? Im insured by Erie insurance with my Alfa Romeo and its like $1,800 a year. and im not even 21 yet. and im the owner and only driver on the car.
So....what would my car payment look like for one of these brand (given they still make the current model) new?
I would say upwards of $1,300+/mo (not including insurance). This is assuming about 20% down on a 60 month loan with a ~6% interest rate.
@@CarsLifeYT Oh my god
@@DavidTMSN Yeah, they’re honestly pretty overpriced new and I’d never recommend buying these new. You’re literally paying a huge premium for the brand at that point.
@@CarsLifeYT Having had a six cylinder with a supercharger back in the day (03 Grand Prix GTP) - I do like the engine. I'd like to see this engine minus one turbo at at a more reasonable price point.
I might be trading in my 16 Subaru sti for a 2015
I would definitely recommend getting a slightly newer one if possible, maybe 2017. The 2015 models are lacking a bit in tech.
Good choice, though. You’ll love it!
why is the insurance so high?
It’s really a mix of the Ghibli being one of the most expensive cars to insure (not sure why that is) and the fact that I don’t have the best insurance provider either. I’m sure I can get a better quote on it elsewhere.
Also, i read that Sport Mode is what eventually causes all of the problems with these. Keep it in ICE 🧊 mode unless you’re showing it off to friends etc
🔱❤️
insurance is super high 😮
Yeah, could definitely get that lower. Nobody in my state insures my other car though, so I just have them both on this plan. It’s a bit over $700/mo.
$600 oil change...nice.
Once per year that’s not all that bad.
@@CarsLifeYT honestly you can probably find a good shop that would do it for less than 100 dollars if you bring your own oil and filter so total cost should be less than 200 if not done by dealer.
What was the breakdown of the costs?
Don’t know how to change your own oil?! $600 😂😂
You can do it yourself for $60
$600 for annual service really isn't all that much. I'll top it off if it gets low, but I'd rather just bring it in once per year 🤷♂
.Salut my friend super car super video subscribe subscribe
Thank you!
You forgot to mention lincoln as an example of a great luxury car
No no no. Luxury is the reason for this car. The interior is full of leather top
To bottom. That’s luxury. A Cadillac won’t give you that 😂😂. You’re speaking of luxury as in LOOK and design not actual luxury. This is more luxurious than ALL the cars you said that were more luxurious because they have cheaper materials on the interior !
That on top of all the tiptoeing around reliability when it’s GOOD. stop listening to bs people say man. You talked as in you may be the only one with a good Maserati
I can barely hear you.
What? Turn your volume up 😂
To costly to own. You can basically buy a new car every year with those prices
It’s not too bad. It all depends on what’s costly to you really. It’s all subjective. I could get a brand new Mercedes C-Class paid in full every year with how much the McLaren costs. Would it be as fun? Nope.
Nice video
I have owned the same car ,same color 2017, for 4 years now. driving always on ICE mode daly.i never have problems, so ever.my gas miles goes to 17-19 miles per gallon.in 4 years I replaced only the real tires $1200 changed all around breakes ones in local service garage $3000 includes roters and all and complete oil change with filters for $280.
I have on the car 54000 miles.i do advice for services find a local garage who trusts and do it.
Don't go to the masserati dealer and charging you arm and leg prices.
