Especially with the lack of a backstory of where he came from before moving into the neighborhood. It's almost like he wasn't made with the rest of the cast... We usually focus on how his husband doesn't remember where he came from before moving in, but Eddie's dear Frank is more unusual in breaking the pattern...

Honestly I think Frank is definitely my favorite out of the whole bunch of characters we have here. The moment matpat said there was a betrayer in the cult from his last game theory I knew it was frank
Major kudos to the voice actor for Wally, they somehow found the perfect balance of soothing kids show host and creepy something is wrong here. You get such a conflicting feeling from hearing them talk that is just perfect.
I think it’s the speech pattern that sets off alarm bells. Human brains are made to recognize and respond to different tones and patterns, Wally sounds forced, he speaks slowly and emphasizes the beginning of most words like normal people would the beginning of their sentence. For instance “Do You, like Home? Home likes, You.” And he pauses in his speech, often in places where its not normal. It’s sort of like how you would speak if you were in danger but can’t say anything about it or you’ll be hurt. You try to speak calmly and gently, but there’s an underlying sound of panic and confusion and fear. But at other times it’s like he’s trying to sound more mysterious and menacing then he’s meant to be.(meant to be as in originally programmed to be)
Yeah, Howdy and Poppy acknowledge Wally in their video clip but the glitch only happens when his name is said. Same for the Barnaby and Home vid. Buddy, pal, kid none of them get Wally's attention. The camera movement implies that Barnaby is even patting Wally but nothin works until he says his name.
I’ve seen a lot of folks comparing that to dissociating or when people have stress-related shutdowns, which from personal experience I can vouch for. Wally seemed to be staring at a particular spot and was able to hear what was going on, but may not have been fully aware of it because of the state he was in, and may have been unable to move. He only snapped out of it when someone caught his attention with his name, which tracks for if he was zoning out from a shutdown
This is also another thing I noticed: When Howdy ends the phone call, he says "bye" 3 times. When Wally answers the phone, he says "hello" 3 times. I might be overthinking it, but that seems pretty odd to me.
The morse code spells out "hello". The prominent sound (sounds like someone turning the door knob over and over to me) is the dot and the clicking of the lock is the dash
You know the more I hear of Wally's voice, or rather speech patterns and mannerisms, the more it seems like hypnotism strategies. Slow, calm voice, pauses that leave the listener looking for the end of the thought, keeping them engaged, and patterns of telling of inferring an urge upon the listener.

This is an interesting take, I noticed that, even though this is obviously a show, his lines feel scripted in a way the other characters lines don't, almost like he's being controlled
The fact that those tabs are all labeled answer kinda supports your "House using Wally as a nanny cam" theory. The tabs being titled answer could be House giving Wally the command to do so when he is spoken to at the end of each one of those clips.
I love how Mat and Ash act more like friends that boss/employer in the intro. From a viewer perspective it makes the videos feel so much less over-produced

Just a thought - Frank being the "bug" guy could also refer to electronic bugs, like microphones? Maybe he's "bugged" Wally and is actually the one interfering with him in this clips, because why would Home need to look through Wally for a conversation it's actively a part of? Frank might be interfering with whatever situation Wally and Home have going on and these clips are Frank gathering proof/spying on the neighbourhood for some reason? Also, his design, with the cylindrical grey head at the top and the thin black legs, kinda mimics a microphone. Thoughts?

Hold on, is Frank the "Question Answerer" like the museum curator thats helping the Restoration Project, and saw all the weird stuff going on first hand and that's why he reached out to them. Because the Question Answerer is anonymous, and Frank being the one that "answers questions" that's a pretty big correlation between the two

pretty sure the letter at the end of the answers videos, is actually the characters and who is talking. HE Howdy Eddie, SP is Sally Poppy, JF is Julie Frank, BH is Barnaby Home, FP Is frank poppy. The house is organizing the chats between the characters using as you said Wally as a recorder. What if Barnaby was not actually talking to home but the noises was home talking THROUGH Wally and its signified as the noises and the name being Home ??? Something i think signifies this is because instead of asking if home is ok he asks if Wally is ok, If he was talking to home he would have asked home but instead home stops talking Wally stopped painting and he asked Wally instead if they were or if both were ok. I'm not saying that the lettering at the end of the answer transcripts isn't a code but it could also just be mentioning that this is who is in the sound track. Edit: I have found points of Evidence that home is talking to Barnaby and is the 9th Character Sally talked about in their about me page. which means Wally was having some sort of space out moment when he was painting to and Barnaby noticed. This changes the context a bit and makes me wonder if home is actually controlling Wally or not because they are controlling Wally and talking at the same time? (I'm going to be uploading a post to the reddit in a bit so check that out)
Gona leach here with a theory that not getting talked about. With these audios (they dont seems to be part of the show just ther normal life). Along with the fact that its repetively brought up they cant find any actor credits or a stage location. We may be dealing with living dolls not actors! Just think that an important perspective to think about.
I am wondering if Home wants Wally to record everything or if Wally is doing this himself. I at first thought it was Home watching through Wally's eyes in places Home cannot see but why would Home make Wally record Barnaby and Home talking if Home can clearly hear and see Barnaby? I like to think Wally is sending little bugs to us to show us these audios. It would probably ruin his ability to record if he talked and put his attention to speak and respond to others and so he disassociates. I believe we will find more clues later even in these audios when we get more info from him. Frank may remove unwanted bugs from places the neighbors ask of him but he mentions in the bug audio at the post office that Wally isn't scared of bugs. If anyone is leaving bugs around, it would probably be Wally with only like Frank or Julie being candidates of known people who are not afraid and like bugs. Howdy sees them as unpaying customers so I doubt he would. Maybe Wally heard from the developer(s) of the website or the restoration team talk about the bugs found on the website. Wally seems to be someone who takes things seriously like if someone, for instance Frank, says "you always first eat with your eyes!" And now Wally is known to eat with his eyes and Eddie was like "if there was a rouge letter, I would be there lickady split!" And we saw Frank with a red letter with people reaching for him. I saw it in the staff page so I am assuming that means it is real now. I am assuming Wally is leaving bugs around on the site with some of his memory or recordings as a way to be literal.
Frank being a human is a great callout. I did think it was weird that the bugs led to 'answer' videos. Could Frank be the Question Answerer? If so, that means there's more in store for our real-life cultists on the restoration team. Oh joy. I love this series. It's so cute hearing all the characters that I continue to forget there's supposed to be lore beyond mental breakdowns about fake businesses and who can carry all the neighbors.
Also, heard that he was the one that could eat because, he has a garden at the back, meanwhile everyone else either goes to Howdy's place or somewhere else. But thats what I heard.

I think Wally's dubious tone and word choice is completely intentional. I think we're supposed to question whether he's a victim or the perpetrator, so the fact that people are interpreting it either or probably goes to show how well made it is!
I think it could be both. He could've started as a victim, but then slowly succumbed to Home. Or he's being controlled by the Home like a puppet, and only has _some_ control, at least for now. 🤔
For an ARG/Horror project that has very likely been in the works for a few years, given the big C in which many / most of us were in lockdown, I could absolutely see the home as being evil or entrapping. (Though it could also just be its own thing unrelated, but there is that theme of contamination and a spreading 'something' that has symptoms of disease so WHO KNOWS at this point!)
4:32 how sneaky of Mat and Ash they casually announce season 6 and throw a hint of the spin-off show of *"ash across the Theory verse"* , personally I think season 5 had some big plot points like the origins of *Mathias Pathaias* which confirmed the multi verse, and also the sad death of mirror mat when he fought against the hordes of minions of the evil overlord Cawthon The lore-Bots, truly a historic moment.
Lore, creepiness, and the fact that this wasn't ever a real show aside, I kind of love that Wally is the main character of this show and kind of represents the people in the world and the children who are maybe really shy or just don't talk as much. It's kind of like the show is teaching kids that it's okay if you're quiet or not super outgoing, you can still make great friends and have fun doing your own thing
I'm only consuming this series through fanart and theory videos (I need that filter to weaken the scares, I'm a giant baby), but I got the idea that Wally and Home maybe aren't purposefully evil, and are just trying to bring back their show. As though, on the last episode, everyone but Wally and Home went to sleep. So the rest are basically dead, with no more need for life. But Wally and Home are aware, alone, and trying to get the show back on so everyone else will be back, too. So they won't be in a void of a dead series. Just that their methods of reaching to the outside world are harmful. Maybe they start to lean into it as they think it's their only option. Who knows. That's probably not what's going on, but I thought it was a cool idea (in general) and wanted to get it off my chest.
Clown did mention that Wally didn't know how to sleep til Barnaby taught him... even then he just goes "I'm sleeping. I'm sleeping." While laying in bed.
About the letters behind the 6-14, 14-14 (and so forth) in the URL of the bug sound pages, I think they show you who speaks in the scene, like when Barnaby talked to Home, it said BH as in Barnaby and Home, when Julie and Frank talked, it showed their first letters and in the other ones, it showed their first letters too.
That makes so much more sense! I was with Matt that they were parts of a code, but it was too many letters to be the password, and there weren't enough vowels to actually be a word!
YES! So glad we're getting more of this live lore hunting, so fun! After going through and finding everything myself... oh man, there is so much new content. Edit: I don't know if they figure this out later in the video, but I hear them discussing this and want to say it now- the two letters in each of the "answer" videos are the initials of whoever is chatting in the video. So 'sp' would be Sally and Poppy, 'jf' would be Julie and Frank, etc. The only thing to note is that 'h' is Howdy in every video except 14 of 14, 'bh', in which 'h' stands for Home, as it's Barnaby and Home 'chatting.' It also seems like all 14 clips take place on the same day, in order 1-14. About gelatin being brought up in separate clips, there are multiple things that are brought up throughout, seemingly simply to connect the clips together, form some continuity and community. Gelatin, hopscotch, "breenberry," tomatoes, and I believe many more things all are said more than once. I took some time when I first found the secret spiral audio to try and decipher the morse code, I believe it just says 'Hello,' basically Home revealing that they are also aware of our presence, similar to Wally.

The bugs leading to the clips where Wally is seemingly spying on the townsfolk for Home could be a reference to how a "bug" can also be a small michrophone that is placed somewhere to gather information
Wally POV, except he's in a trance. Once he hears his name, he snaps out of it and resumes his normal behavior. Which is way it glitches out, half way through his name
1:00:48 that is Wally's perspective, when Barnaby is saying "Hello? Buddy? Pal?" You can see the 'camera' shake, implying that Barnaby is shaking Wally to get his attention.
Its actually really interesting, because closer to the beginning, when they were analyzing the eddie voiceclip, at the end, he said "little buddy," which he always called Wally in the show, so its almost like he knew Wally was on the other side of the line.
Well if House and Wally exchange consciousness it would explain the sudden pause of the heart beat and ambiance when speaking to you. This ARG got me hooked and can't wait for the full lore.
What if Home is literally talking through Wally like an actual puppet when it's talking with the other neighbor? So we would hear the squeaks and creaks but if it's being filtered through Wally then the neighbors would hear Wally's responses, or lack there of. But maybe it takes a toll on Home's "power" or something so when it stops it left Wally in "awating orders" mode
MatPat. If I could tell you some things that I've noticed. Honestly I don't really think it's about a cold I really think that the series is about abusive relationships and why do I think that? Well one of the biggest clues is the meaning behind Wally's name and the fact that every time Wally enters the scene they don't really seem scared by him they seem more concerned.
There was an interesting constrast with those first two phonecalls - Barnaby was disappointed at the lack of reply, but he didn't seem surprised - he still knew someone had to be there. Barnaby wasn't confused at the call, but Eddie was. Eddie didn't understand why he couldn't hear us, while Barnaby seemed to know it might be an option.
I’ve always felt that Barnaby was suspicious, especially in the “duet” clip, Wally said “That’s all Barnaby taught me” Barnaby is teaching Wally how to talk to home and is the only character other than Wally that talks to home. Barnaby is also the one who really babies Wally. Idk there’s something sketchy going on with Barnaby towards Wally. It’s definitely something weird

Maybe every major update will have a soft focus on a neighbor? I bet Julie would be next. Besties with Frank, one of the few to have a sinister unofficial artwork (proving her character is more developed?,) and her ability to talk to flowers would give a perfect way for her to leave messages. It also follows the theme of double meanings. Frank's bugs are actual insects crawling on the pages while also being spyware. Julie could be plants as actual flowers growing all over while also being a "plant" or a spy. Theres also the theme of bugs being pests and plants being weeds. (Her unofficial artwork has her holding a flower with an eye in the middle of it. Is she a spy? For Frank or for Wally?)
Only other person that might not belong is Eddie. He doesn't know where he came from, has a good relationship with Frank, and mail carriers are notoriously a part of spy networks. The letters the first batch of evidence came from were said to be in colorful envelopes like Eddie delivers. Maybe his clues could come in the form of stamps or spilled envelopes. Aaah this arg just gets my brain goin I love it!
The conversation between Sally and Frank was so lovely (until the end), Clown really has done an absolutely brilliant job with these characters and bringing them to life.

Clown is pretty good with consistent character design - I think it's worth noting that most of the 'unnerving' content featuring the eyes of wally have a distinctly different shape/angle of the eyes compared the Wally's more friendly, dopey standard eyes. I think that is very distinctly showing that there are 2 different wallys - a sinister one with sharp, angular eyes, and a friendly host-character to children's show, with softer, up-turned eyes.
Very true, the designs are more complex and nuanced than one might notice at first glance, so I wouldn't be suprised if the eye shape was a detail meant to show two separate entities.
Ooh, good catch! While I have no idea if this is the case yet, I do think another thing MAYBE supporting the two Wallys idea is that some official artwork of him features blue eyelids, while others have red ones. Yeah this could just be a change that happened over time, but I can’t really be sure
I am fascinated because the first iteration of the site had post cards everywhere- we got all the information through mail that looked like Eddie's mail. And now we get all the information on the second iteration through bugs which relates through Frank. I predict the next iteration will he through one of the other puppets motifs.

I have a personal theory that the whole black mold and abyssal pit under House is apart of some Eldritch entity of dark inspiration. One of the major themes of Welcome Home is the literal artistry that goes along with the project, Wally spreads his “sight” through the medium of his eyes created by others. What if the whole sentience/physical forms (as seen through the videos and confused voices when receiving the “prank call”) thing is because some corrupting force of Eldritch inspiration brought these puppets to life for some reason we’re still figuring out. Wally could be acting as a sort “prophet” for this “Eldritch inspiration” that was brought into this world by the symbolic/metaphysical connection of Wally’s art/the show itself. Wally was given life and higher functioning as the prophet/nexus of this conceptual corruption of creative inspiration. But I believe Wally is just a confused pawn that understands that he’s alive and is trying desperately to free himself after being forgotten, unwarily spreading this dark inspiration remaking the show to spread even more. The symbol of the spiral (symbol of madness) found within Wally’s hair & under House plus Wally’s character being an artist brings credence to an Eldritch explanation because art is often connected to madness as a theme. The show/inspiration itself seemingly changed reality as seen in the talk host snippet that allowed the puppets themselves to be present and unquestioned (No actors for the puppets after all) or the inspiration is creating false reality evidence for the show (host was weird/unnerving) to spread? Maybe us being shown the bugs and links is on purpose? To spread, the website was has shown to react to our actions. Maybe the show was forgotten for a reason? How does one stop an idea from spreading? The idea must be forgotten. A show brought to life by Eldritch means sealed and forgotten by the minds of all suddenly rising from formless depths by black stained art given to people seemingly compelled to gather the remnants of this lost work. Is it not strange that strangers connected themselves by a union of ruined papers, to find something greater truth? Art can change the world and people in a myriad of ways after all, then why can’t art chain and bind you as well? There is no cult, no icon to beg and plead to, only a dark and terrible inspiration warping reality to its unknowable whims. The House is now but a shell that was once a Home.
I love the idea of Ash getting her own show *however* I propose the idea of we still don’t ever get to see them and she’s still just a voice in the background.

I think I figured out what the letters in the url for the hidden dialogues between characters are. It’s literally just the first letters of the two characters having the conversation e.g. fp is Frank and Poppy, bh is Barnaby and Home, etc. P.S. excited to see what comes out of Welcome Home next :) (and of course loving MatPat covering it!)
Tldr: waiters interrupt meals at awkward times to ensure customers aren't going to ask for a refund because they didn't enjoy their meal. The reason waiters come in at an awkward time is because of a restaurant sales strategy called, "The two bite check in". Basically, a few bites into your meal, your server is supposed to come by and check that everyone is enjoying their meal and satisfied with the resturants product. This way, as long as each patron is satiated with the food, no customer can reasonably ask for a refund after its already been eaten.
What if Frank is actually a version of the Question-Answerer? There's supposedly no information on him before he joined the neighborhood, he leaves the bugs to communicate with the audience, and his character profile blatantly says that "he was a source of information when an answer to a question was needed", etc. Might be a stretch but it was just a thought
Just wanted to note something about Sally's overview card thingo (idk what to call it lol) that I haven't really seen discussed in the comments (correct me if I'm wrong though). In her description we are introduced to her affinity to fame and thus her move to the neigbourhood where she "has seemingly accomplished her aspired stardom as there are only nine visible neighbors in home, all of whom know her". This infers that there are nine neighbours aside from Sally herself, unless you include her as "[knowing] her" which comes off as a little odd, for a total of ten neighbours. I think it's also important to draw attention to the fact that these are "visible neighbors" meaning that we have probably seen them before (however this could change over time as it references Sally "seemingly" accomplishing her stardom, although this could just reference outside of Home). Hence, my guess is that the extra two neighbours are probably home and you (very anticlimactic I know) as we see both through the "You" overview card thingo and home being a physical entity. I could be misconstruing this information but this is just my interpretation I guess lol. Sorry for the essay of a comment.
Names. Power of names. Wally keeps asking if we know who he is, and then those videos end when someone *says his name*. Not when he's addressed, SPECIFICALLY *his name.* I think he's asking because he wants us to say his name. And then..... whatever happens when those videos end. The conversation between Barnaby and Home told us a lot. I don't think it's HOME "seeing through his eyes", since it would have no need to spy on a conversation already involving itself.
Literally while watching this, I wanted to say something. Those "codes" at the top in the URL for each "answer" video, I noticed that they were the first initials of the names of the puppets in the skit. For instance, the one with "jf" was a conversation between Julie and Frank. Another one had "sp", and the skit had Sally and Poppy in it. I don't know if there is some other code that may be hidden, but I-- I don't know. Also, when you talked about the bugs with Frank (like it was his own message compared to Wally's drawings), I really do think in some way, shape, or form, he is "undercover." His past is unknown, and he is this character filled with answers. By having those videos listed as "answers," I wonder if he is trying to get a message out to the audience. I don't know though. I feel like I'm too invested lol. The plot thickens with this website.
I think the "code" that Matpat is talking about for the audio files just indicates who's talking. Like the last audio they listened to was 9-14 fp. F is for Frank and P is for Poppy. Same for 14-14 BH for Barnaby and Home. I don't know if all of them match though.

Absolutely, I did an experiment to drink more water for a class and had to go to the hospital! If you are getting more headaches after increasing your water intake stop!
But if you have cysts or IBS, do drink the water by itself fully and not depend on the water intake of foods. (My doctors scolded me so much over this.)
This! My brother was a cross country runner in AZ which is pretty hot and dry. He ended up drinking too much water and basically starting to accidentally drown his cells! He was sick for a little bit and got better quick and he's fine now, but an interesting story, I think, especially where I live when youre constantly being told to drink water
Also, your need for water is not a fixed number, it depends on your height, weight, age, level of activity, where you live etc. There’s ways to calculate that, but the best way to know if you need water or not is to listen to your body, like another person said here.
Sorry if someone's already mentioned this, but the letters at the end of the web address for each conversation correspond with the initials of the characters speaking in the dialogue. e.g. "14-14-bh" is Track 14 of 14 total tracks, Barnaby + Home's conversation; "9-14-fp" being Track 9 of 14 total, Frank + Poppy's dialogue. That's not to say the order of their combined initials couldn't lead to another clue like the worksheet did, as in placing the initials in a combination that follows the order of the track numbers 1 through 14. It could also be innocuous file differentiation. I'm not doing the ARG myself, though, so that's up for others to find.
Maybe wally when in "home mode" is the one opening and creaking the door as a medium for the home to communicate with the other neighbours. When someone says "wally?" the connection is interrupted. This would maybe imply that the POV on the videos is from home itself.
Honestly, I'm kind of glad that Welcome Home fandom is calmer now because like remember when MatPat's first WH GTLive came out and... the fandom wasn't the best...
I can not tell you how much I love this ARG. I love that you guys are covering this on GTlive and Game Theory! I actually ended up with a guy who sounded exactly like Wally when I had to call my bank a few weeks ago, and it weirded me tf out 😂 He had the same monotone voice and was just about as quiet, really took me out of what I was doing for a moment
If you listen to how Wally speaks in the Interview and listen to the other times he breaks the forth wall. Plus the answer to the comment of Wally is a doll. And the page is labeled as No, a puppet. so i was kinda thinking that the bug may be symbolic of a “fly on the wall” type of scenario. House using Wally as a listening mechanism where nobody knows, it makes sense
I like this! Clown is very good at making 4D chess levels of wordplay for themes, imagery and whatnot--turning the phrase of "being Frank" into a character, knock your head off foreshadowing, Wally's responses to neurotypical wordplay, etc. The idea of bugs being "bugs" in the site and being "flies on the wall" to spy on everyone would be very fitting.
As much as a complete super natural aspect is interesting, I think in regards to Wally and those secret recordings via the bugs, it could just be Wally dissociating severely. Cause think about it, none of the other neighbors ever actually acknowledged Wally seemingly spacing out, BUT Barnabe who’s confirmed to be his best friend is the only one to actually ask Wally “hey are you ok?” It could be a more simpler case of that, and not some “oh Wally has a physic link with Home”. And since Wally is known as being like the “Mr. Rodgers” of the show (I.e the narrator or person that watches everything), it could just be that Wally doesn’t actually have any connection to the neighbors in that social sense. Plus it’s also shown that the other neighbors are unnerved by Wally’s odd behavior and that basically proves that they aren’t actually close to him. Like he’s basically an “outsider,” even if he’s considered the main center of the neighborhood “show wise”. Matt even says it’s like when you’re a kid spacing out at an adult party, but it’s all with an entire group of adults, most of em clearly not actually caring much about either. Also for a “friendly” kids show, these characters sure do throw a lot of shade and back handed comments to each other
So you kind of touched on this in the video, but some history of gelatin that might help the theory: you are totally correct in gelatin was a fancy pants food in the 20s-40s. Post WWII, it became easily accessable in the 50s, hence those wonderful aspic and wiggly foods we all think of when we think of the 50s. Welcome Home is meant to take place in roughly the 70s- gelatin recipes like that were seen as old fashioned and fussy. Additionally, gelatin was something that took a long time to prepare. Gelatin takes a while to set, so being able to have the time in the day to prepare the gelatin earlier to have it for dinner meant you had time and could afford to be doing that. So, the 60s and 70s come around. And you know what else happened? The women's liberation movement. Absolutely astounding, obviously, and very very much needed. And in response to this, the world of cooking and baking also changed. It became very trendy to make desserts and foods with as little effort as possible- dump cakes, fluffies, crackers with sweets in the middle- they were all popular because they could all be made quickly and by anyone who could read. ALL of this is to say, the gelatin thing in reference to Frank may be a very elaborate way of calling him old fashioned or stuck in his ways. Intentional by Clown? No idea. It could be an insult, it could also be subtly accusing him of still holding onto his "old life" before the cult. No idea, thought I'd just give some more perspective to digest.
As for the reason why Frank has a rotating head; personally, i wonder if it could be eluding to heightened perception, that he can 'see' more than the other neighbors, being able to open in more directions than them. He seems to want to inform us of the weirdness around home and Wally, hiding literal bugs around the site to let us know. Frank's character feels like an undercover good guy, investigating the cult from the inside.
This may be a stretch, but what if Frank was the Question Answerer from earlier updates? Especially if there's a possibility that hes not really a puppet. I mean, hes been said to have "all the answers" for the neighbors, and now he's reaching out to us through these bugs on the site. He just shows up out of nowhere with promises of information for those around him (sound familiar?) and so they rely on him for answers, just like the Question Answerer is relied on for info about the show. I guess it's just something to think about, maybe?
I find it really suspicious that Franks biography mentions him answering questions, as there is an unknown person helping out the restoration project team called "The Question Answerer"...
i find it funny that franks house is the the only one with fully open windows & look like the widows that are homes “eyes”, PLUS the only other open windows (other than the shops) that are open are the two closest people to frank himself (poppy & julie), going off that frank is trying to help us maybe he’s “opening” the others neighbours eyes too.

Especially with the lack of a backstory of where he came from before moving into the neighborhood. It's almost like he wasn't made with the rest of the cast... We usually focus on how his husband doesn't remember where he came from before moving in, but Eddie's dear Frank is more unusual in breaking the pattern...

Major kudos to the voice actor for Wally, they somehow found the perfect balance of soothing kids show host and creepy something is wrong here. You get such a conflicting feeling from hearing them talk that is just perfect.

I think it’s the speech pattern that sets off alarm bells. Human brains are made to recognize and respond to different tones and patterns, Wally sounds forced, he speaks slowly and emphasizes the beginning of most words like normal people would the beginning of their sentence. For instance “Do You, like Home? Home likes, You.” And he pauses in his speech, often in places where its not normal. It’s sort of like how you would speak if you were in danger but can’t say anything about it or you’ll be hurt. You try to speak calmly and gently, but there’s an underlying sound of panic and confusion and fear. But at other times it’s like he’s trying to sound more mysterious and menacing then he’s meant to be.(meant to be as in originally programmed to be)

Yeah, Howdy and Poppy acknowledge Wally in their video clip but the glitch only happens when his name is said. Same for the Barnaby and Home vid. Buddy, pal, kid none of them get Wally's attention. The camera movement implies that Barnaby is even patting Wally but nothin works until he says his name.
I’ve seen a lot of folks comparing that to dissociating or when people have stress-related shutdowns, which from personal experience I can vouch for. Wally seemed to be staring at a particular spot and was able to hear what was going on, but may not have been fully aware of it because of the state he was in, and may have been unable to move. He only snapped out of it when someone caught his attention with his name, which tracks for if he was zoning out from a shutdown
This is also another thing I noticed: When Howdy ends the phone call, he says "bye" 3 times. When Wally answers the phone, he says "hello" 3 times. I might be overthinking it, but that seems pretty odd to me.

You know the more I hear of Wally's voice, or rather speech patterns and mannerisms, the more it seems like hypnotism strategies. Slow, calm voice, pauses that leave the listener looking for the end of the thought, keeping them engaged, and patterns of telling of inferring an urge upon the listener.

Just a thought - Frank being the "bug" guy could also refer to electronic bugs, like microphones? Maybe he's "bugged" Wally and is actually the one interfering with him in this clips, because why would Home need to look through Wally for a conversation it's actively a part of? Frank might be interfering with whatever situation Wally and Home have going on and these clips are Frank gathering proof/spying on the neighbourhood for some reason? Also, his design, with the cylindrical grey head at the top and the thin black legs, kinda mimics a microphone. Thoughts?

pretty sure the letter at the end of the answers videos, is actually the characters and who is talking. HE Howdy Eddie, SP is Sally Poppy, JF is Julie Frank, BH is Barnaby Home, FP Is frank poppy. The house is organizing the chats between the characters using as you said Wally as a recorder.

Something i think signifies this is because instead of asking if home is ok he asks if Wally is ok, If he was talking to home he would have asked home but instead home stops talking Wally stopped painting and he asked Wally instead if they were or if both were ok.
I'm not saying that the lettering at the end of the answer transcripts isn't a code but it could also just be mentioning that this is who is in the sound track.
Edit: I have found points of Evidence that home is talking to Barnaby and is the 9th Character Sally talked about in their about me page. which means Wally was having some sort of space out moment when he was painting to and Barnaby noticed. This changes the context a bit and makes me wonder if home is actually controlling Wally or not because they are controlling Wally and talking at the same time? Gona leach here with a theory that not getting talked about. With these audios (they dont seems to be part of the show just ther normal life). Along with the fact that its repetively brought up they cant find any actor credits or a stage location. We may be dealing with living dolls not actors! I am wondering if Home wants Wally to record everything or if Wally is doing this himself. I at first thought it was Home watching through Wally's eyes in places Home cannot see but why would Home make Wally record Barnaby and Home talking if Home can clearly hear and see Barnaby? I like to think Wally is sending little bugs to us to show us these audios. It would probably ruin his ability to record if he talked and put his attention to speak and respond to others and so he disassociates. I believe we will find more clues later even in these audios when we get more info from him.
Frank may remove unwanted bugs from places the neighbors ask of him but he mentions in the bug audio at the post office that Wally isn't scared of bugs. If anyone is leaving bugs around, it would probably be Wally with only like Frank or Julie being candidates of known people who are not afraid and like bugs. Howdy sees them as unpaying customers so I doubt he would. Maybe Wally heard from the developer(s) of the website or the restoration team talk about the bugs found on the website. Wally seems to be someone who takes things seriously like if someone, for instance Frank, says "you always first eat with your eyes!" And now Wally is known to eat with his eyes and Eddie was like "if there was a rouge letter, I would be there lickady split!" And we saw Frank with a red letter with people reaching for him. I saw it in the staff page so I am assuming that means it is real now. I am assuming Wally is leaving bugs around on the site with some of his memory or recordings as a way to be literal.

For an ARG/Horror project that has very likely been in the works for a few years, given the big C in which many / most of us were in lockdown, I could absolutely see the home as being evil or entrapping. (Though it could also just be its own thing unrelated, but there is that theme of contamination and a spreading 'something' that has symptoms of disease so WHO KNOWS at this point!)

Lore, creepiness, and the fact that this wasn't ever a real show aside, I kind of love that Wally is the main character of this show and kind of represents the people in the world and the children who are maybe really shy or just don't talk as much. It's kind of like the show is teaching kids that it's okay if you're quiet or not super outgoing, you can still make great friends and have fun doing your own thing
I'm only consuming this series through fanart and theory videos (I need that filter to weaken the scares, I'm a giant baby), but I got the idea that Wally and Home maybe aren't purposefully evil, and are just trying to bring back their show.
As though, on the last episode, everyone but Wally and Home went to sleep. So the rest are basically dead, with no more need for life. But Wally and Home are aware, alone, and trying to get the show back on so everyone else will be back, too. So they won't be in a void of a dead series. Just that their methods of reaching to the outside world are harmful. Maybe they start to lean into it as they think it's their only option. Who knows.
That's probably not what's going on, but I thought it was a cool idea (in general) and wanted to get it off my chest.

About the letters behind the 6-14, 14-14 (and so forth) in the URL of the bug sound pages, I think they show you who speaks in the scene, like when Barnaby talked to Home, it said BH as in Barnaby and Home, when Julie and Frank talked, it showed their first letters and in the other ones, it showed their first letters too.
That makes so much more sense! I was with Matt that they were parts of a code, but it was too many letters to be the password, and there weren't enough vowels to actually be a word!
YES! So glad we're getting more of this live lore hunting, so fun! After going through and finding everything myself... oh man, there is so much new content.
Edit: I don't know if they figure this out later in the video, but I hear them discussing this and want to say it now- the two letters in each of the "answer" videos are the initials of whoever is chatting in the video. So 'sp' would be Sally and Poppy, 'jf' would be Julie and Frank, etc. The only thing to note is that 'h' is Howdy in every video except 14 of 14, 'bh', in which 'h' stands for Home, as it's Barnaby and Home 'chatting.' It also seems like all 14 clips take place on the same day, in order 1-14. About gelatin being brought up in separate clips, there are multiple things that are brought up throughout, seemingly simply to connect the clips together, form some continuity and community. Gelatin, hopscotch, "breenberry," tomatoes, and I believe many more things all are said more than once.
I took some time when I first found the secret spiral audio to try and decipher the morse code, I believe it just says 'Hello,' basically Home revealing that they are also aware of our presence, similar to Wally.
Frank seems like he's using his bugs in a similar way House is using Wally. Interesting!

1:00:48 that is Wally's perspective, when Barnaby is saying "Hello? Buddy? Pal?" You can see the 'camera' shake, implying that Barnaby is shaking Wally to get his attention.

What if Home is literally talking through Wally like an actual puppet when it's talking with the other neighbor? So we would hear the squeaks and creaks but if it's being filtered through Wally then the neighbors would hear Wally's responses, or lack there of. But maybe it takes a toll on Home's "power" or something so when it stops it left Wally in "awating orders" mode
MatPat. If I could tell you some things that I've noticed. Honestly I don't really think it's about a cold I really think that the series is about abusive relationships and why do I think that? Well one of the biggest clues is the meaning behind Wally's name and the fact that every time Wally enters the scene they don't really seem scared by him they seem more concerned.
There was an interesting constrast with those first two phonecalls - Barnaby was disappointed at the lack of reply, but he didn't seem surprised - he still knew someone had to be there. Barnaby wasn't confused at the call, but Eddie was. Eddie didn't understand why he couldn't hear us, while Barnaby seemed to know it might be an option.
I’ve always felt that Barnaby was suspicious, especially in the “duet” clip, Wally said “That’s all Barnaby taught me” Barnaby is teaching Wally how to talk to home and is the only character other than Wally that talks to home.
Barnaby is also the one who really babies Wally. Idk there’s something sketchy going on with Barnaby towards Wally. It’s definitely something weird

Maybe every major update will have a soft focus on a neighbor? I bet Julie would be next. Besties with Frank, one of the few to have a sinister unofficial artwork (proving her character is more developed?,) and her ability to talk to flowers would give a perfect way for her to leave messages. It also follows the theme of double meanings. Frank's bugs are actual insects crawling on the pages while also being spyware. Julie could be plants as actual flowers growing all over while also being a "plant" or a spy. Theres also the theme of bugs being pests and plants being weeds. (Her unofficial artwork has her holding a flower with an eye in the middle of it. Is she a spy? For Frank or for Wally?)
Only other person that might not belong is Eddie. He doesn't know where he came from, has a good relationship with Frank, and mail carriers are notoriously a part of spy networks. The letters the first batch of evidence came from were said to be in colorful envelopes like Eddie delivers. Maybe his clues could come in the form of stamps or spilled envelopes. Aaah this arg just gets my brain goin I love it!
I don't know why, but Ash gives me the vibes of someone who would have like a homesteading RUclips channel based out of Vermont.

The conversation between Sally and Frank was so lovely (until the end), Clown really has done an absolutely brilliant job with these characters and bringing them to life.
As someone who snaps and dances to the intro EVERY TIME I'm glad to have gotten a bonus dance today. Thank you, Mat, for having an existential crisis about 7 seconds that never existed
Clown is pretty good with consistent character design - I think it's worth noting that most of the 'unnerving' content featuring the eyes of wally have a distinctly different shape/angle of the eyes compared the Wally's more friendly, dopey standard eyes.
I think that is very distinctly showing that there are 2 different wallys - a sinister one with sharp, angular eyes, and a friendly host-character to children's show, with softer, up-turned eyes.
Very true, the designs are more complex and nuanced than one might notice at first glance, so I wouldn't be suprised if the eye shape was a detail meant to show two separate entities.
Ooh, good catch! While I have no idea if this is the case yet, I do think another thing MAYBE supporting the two Wallys idea is that some official artwork of him features blue eyelids, while others have red ones. Yeah this could just be a change that happened over time, but I can’t really be sure

I am fascinated because the first iteration of the site had post cards everywhere- we got all the information through mail that looked like Eddie's mail. And now we get all the information on the second iteration through bugs which relates through Frank.
I predict the next iteration will he through one of the other puppets motifs.

My food theory when I was a waitress is that people take bites/chew more than they think. Also the walk across the restaurant is only a few seconds but seems to be enough time for at least one person at the table to take a bite.
I am once again advocating that Mat use the Windows Magnifier tool for lore dives like this when he's trying to look at and point out small details. It's activated by pressing the "Windows" key & the "+" key at the same time.

I have a personal theory that the whole black mold and abyssal pit under House is apart of some Eldritch entity of dark inspiration. One of the major themes of Welcome Home is the literal artistry that goes along with the project, Wally spreads his “sight” through the medium of his eyes created by others. What if the whole sentience/physical forms (as seen through the videos and confused voices when receiving the “prank call”) thing is because some corrupting force of Eldritch inspiration brought these puppets to life for some reason we’re still figuring out. Wally could be acting as a sort “prophet” for this “Eldritch inspiration” that was brought into this world by the symbolic/metaphysical connection of Wally’s art/the show itself. Wally was given life and higher functioning as the prophet/nexus of this conceptual corruption of creative inspiration. But I believe Wally is just a confused pawn that understands that he’s alive and is trying desperately to free himself after being forgotten, unwarily spreading this dark inspiration remaking the show to spread even more. The symbol of the spiral (symbol of madness) found within Wally’s hair & under House plus Wally’s character being an artist brings credence to an Eldritch explanation because art is often connected to madness as a theme. The show/inspiration itself seemingly changed reality as seen in the talk host snippet that allowed the puppets themselves to be present and unquestioned (No actors for the puppets after all) or the inspiration is creating false reality evidence for the show (host was weird/unnerving) to spread? Maybe us being shown the bugs and links is on purpose? To spread, the website was has shown to react to our actions. Maybe the show was forgotten for a reason? How does one stop an idea from spreading? The idea must be forgotten. A show brought to life by Eldritch means sealed and forgotten by the minds of all suddenly rising from formless depths by black stained art given to people seemingly compelled to gather the remnants of this lost work. Is it not strange that strangers connected themselves by a union of ruined papers, to find something greater truth? Art can change the world and people in a myriad of ways after all, then why can’t art chain and bind you as well? There is no cult, no icon to beg and plead to, only a dark and terrible inspiration warping reality to its unknowable whims. The House is now but a shell that was once a Home.

I think I figured out what the letters in the url for the hidden dialogues between characters are. It’s literally just the first letters of the two characters having the conversation e.g. fp is Frank and Poppy, bh is Barnaby and Home, etc.
P.S. excited to see what comes out of Welcome Home next :) (and of course loving MatPat covering it!)
Tldr: waiters interrupt meals at awkward times to ensure customers aren't going to ask for a refund because they didn't enjoy their meal.
The reason waiters come in at an awkward time is because of a restaurant sales strategy called, "The two bite check in".
Basically, a few bites into your meal, your server is supposed to come by and check that everyone is enjoying their meal and satisfied with the resturants product. This way, as long as each patron is satiated with the food, no customer can reasonably ask for a refund after its already been eaten.
What if Frank is actually a version of the Question-Answerer? There's supposedly no information on him before he joined the neighborhood, he leaves the bugs to communicate with the audience, and his character profile blatantly says that "he was a source of information when an answer to a question was needed", etc. Might be a stretch but it was just a thought
The Reason That Tab Is Labeled ‘Duet’ By The Beginning Is Because It’s Wally And Home As One Talking
Just wanted to note something about Sally's overview card thingo (idk what to call it lol) that I haven't really seen discussed in the comments (correct me if I'm wrong though).
In her description we are introduced to her affinity to fame and thus her move to the neigbourhood where she "has seemingly accomplished her aspired stardom as there are only nine visible neighbors in home, all of whom know her". This infers that there are nine neighbours aside from Sally herself, unless you include her as "[knowing] her" which comes off as a little odd, for a total of ten neighbours.
I think it's also important to draw attention to the fact that these are "visible neighbors" meaning that we have probably seen them before (however this could change over time as it references Sally "seemingly" accomplishing her stardom, although this could just reference outside of Home). Hence, my guess is that the extra two neighbours are probably home and you (very anticlimactic I know) as we see both through the "You" overview card thingo and home being a physical entity.
I could be misconstruing this information but this is just my interpretation I guess lol. Sorry for the essay of a comment.
Names. Power of names. Wally keeps asking if we know who he is, and then those videos end when someone *says his name*. Not when he's addressed, SPECIFICALLY *his name.* I think he's asking because he wants us to say his name. And then..... whatever happens when those videos end. The conversation between Barnaby and Home told us a lot. I don't think it's HOME "seeing through his eyes", since it would have no need to spy on a conversation already involving itself.
Literally while watching this, I wanted to say something. Those "codes" at the top in the URL for each "answer" video, I noticed that they were the first initials of the names of the puppets in the skit. For instance, the one with "jf" was a conversation between Julie and Frank. Another one had "sp", and the skit had Sally and Poppy in it. I don't know if there is some other code that may be hidden, but I-- I don't know. Also, when you talked about the bugs with Frank (like it was his own message compared to Wally's drawings), I really do think in some way, shape, or form, he is "undercover." His past is unknown, and he is this character filled with answers. By having those videos listed as "answers," I wonder if he is trying to get a message out to the audience. I don't know though. I feel like I'm too invested lol. The plot thickens with this website.

I think the "code" that Matpat is talking about for the audio files just indicates who's talking. Like the last audio they listened to was 9-14 fp. F is for Frank and P is for Poppy. Same for 14-14 BH for Barnaby and Home. I don't know if all of them match though.

Absolutely, I did an experiment to drink more water for a class and had to go to the hospital! If you are getting more headaches after increasing your water intake stop!
But if you have cysts or IBS, do drink the water by itself fully and not depend on the water intake of foods. (My doctors scolded me so much over this.)
Drink water when you're thirsty and you'll be fine, our bodies are very good at letting us know what and how much we need if we listen to them
This! My brother was a cross country runner in AZ which is pretty hot and dry. He ended up drinking too much water and basically starting to accidentally drown his cells! He was sick for a little bit and got better quick and he's fine now, but an interesting story, I think, especially where I live when youre constantly being told to drink water
Also, your need for water is not a fixed number, it depends on your height, weight, age, level of activity, where you live etc. There’s ways to calculate that, but the best way to know if you need water or not is to listen to your body, like another person said here.
Sorry if someone's already mentioned this, but the letters at the end of the web address for each conversation correspond with the initials of the characters speaking in the dialogue. e.g. "14-14-bh" is Track 14 of 14 total tracks, Barnaby + Home's conversation; "9-14-fp" being Track 9 of 14 total, Frank + Poppy's dialogue. That's not to say the order of their combined initials couldn't lead to another clue like the worksheet did, as in placing the initials in a combination that follows the order of the track numbers 1 through 14. It could also be innocuous file differentiation. I'm not doing the ARG myself, though, so that's up for others to find.
Maybe wally when in "home mode" is the one opening and creaking the door as a medium for the home to communicate with the other neighbours. When someone says "wally?" the connection is interrupted. This would maybe imply that the POV on the videos is from home itself.
Honestly, I'm kind of glad that Welcome Home fandom is calmer now because like remember when MatPat's first WH GTLive came out and... the fandom wasn't the best...

I actually ended up with a guy who sounded exactly like Wally when I had to call my bank a few weeks ago, and it weirded me tf out 😂
He had the same monotone voice and was just about as quiet, really took me out of what I was doing for a moment

Plus the answer to the comment of Wally is a doll. And the page is labeled as No, a puppet. Goes with how Wally is being controlled, someone is mimicking him but isn't doing it quite right. Also, in the YOU profile drawing audio, is a secondary deeper voice. Like FNAF Cassidy speaking through the other animatronics.
so i was kinda thinking that the bug may be symbolic of a “fly on the wall” type of scenario. House using Wally as a listening mechanism where nobody knows, it makes sense
I like this! Clown is very good at making 4D chess levels of wordplay for themes, imagery and whatnot--turning the phrase of "being Frank" into a character, knock your head off foreshadowing, Wally's responses to neurotypical wordplay, etc. The idea of bugs being "bugs" in the site and being "flies on the wall" to spy on everyone would be very fitting.

As much as a complete super natural aspect is interesting, I think in regards to Wally and those secret recordings via the bugs, it could just be Wally dissociating severely. Cause think about it, none of the other neighbors ever actually acknowledged Wally seemingly spacing out, BUT Barnabe who’s confirmed to be his best friend is the only one to actually ask Wally “hey are you ok?” It could be a more simpler case of that, and not some “oh Wally has a physic link with Home”. And since Wally is known as being like the “Mr. Rodgers” of the show (I.e the narrator or person that watches everything), it could just be that Wally doesn’t actually have any connection to the neighbors in that social sense. Plus it’s also shown that the other neighbors are unnerved by Wally’s odd behavior and that basically proves that they aren’t actually close to him. Like he’s basically an “outsider,” even if he’s considered the main center of the neighborhood “show wise”. Matt even says it’s like when you’re a kid spacing out at an adult party, but it’s all with an entire group of adults, most of em clearly not actually caring much about either. Also for a “friendly” kids show, these characters sure do throw a lot of shade and back handed comments to each other

So you kind of touched on this in the video, but some history of gelatin that might help the theory: you are totally correct in gelatin was a fancy pants food in the 20s-40s. Post WWII, it became easily accessable in the 50s, hence those wonderful aspic and wiggly foods we all think of when we think of the 50s. Welcome Home is meant to take place in roughly the 70s- gelatin recipes like that were seen as old fashioned and fussy. Additionally, gelatin was something that took a long time to prepare. Gelatin takes a while to set, so being able to have the time in the day to prepare the gelatin earlier to have it for dinner meant you had time and could afford to be doing that.
So, the 60s and 70s come around. And you know what else happened? The women's liberation movement. Absolutely astounding, obviously, and very very much needed. And in response to this, the world of cooking and baking also changed. It became very trendy to make desserts and foods with as little effort as possible- dump cakes, fluffies, crackers with sweets in the middle- they were all popular because they could all be made quickly and by anyone who could read.
ALL of this is to say, the gelatin thing in reference to Frank may be a very elaborate way of calling him old fashioned or stuck in his ways. Intentional by Clown? No idea. It could be an insult, it could also be subtly accusing him of still holding onto his "old life" before the cult. No idea, thought I'd just give some more perspective to digest.
As for the reason why Frank has a rotating head; personally, i wonder if it could be eluding to heightened perception, that he can 'see' more than the other neighbors, being able to open in more directions than them. He seems to want to inform us of the weirdness around home and Wally, hiding literal bugs around the site to let us know. Frank's character feels like an undercover good guy, investigating the cult from the inside.
This may be a stretch, but what if Frank was the Question Answerer from earlier updates? Especially if there's a possibility that hes not really a puppet. I mean, hes been said to have "all the answers" for the neighbors, and now he's reaching out to us through these bugs on the site. He just shows up out of nowhere with promises of information for those around him (sound familiar?) and so they rely on him for answers, just like the Question Answerer is relied on for info about the show. I guess it's just something to think about, maybe?
I find it really suspicious that Franks biography mentions him answering questions, as there is an unknown person helping out the restoration project team called "The Question Answerer"...
i find it funny that franks house is the the only one with fully open windows & look like the widows that are homes “eyes”, PLUS the only other open windows (other than the shops) that are open are the two closest people to frank himself (poppy & julie), going off that frank is trying to help us maybe he’s “opening” the others neighbours eyes too.
