  • To stay safe during Quarantine I can only make videos with my 2012 MK6 GTI and 2004 Cayenne Turbo Here's a trick I found helpful for cleaning the sticky radio knobs / dials in the Cayenne. This is a common problem on older Ferraris as well after years of the dash baking in the sun but the buttons are not this easy to remove.
If you have a car video request, let me know!

Mmm..no. Maybe on the new Porsche cars/SUV's, But did this on a 2005 911 S with its' stock knobs in good shape but getting sticky. Never mind overnight, in 10 minutes in the same alcohol prescribed, it took the entire black film off the tuning knob and left it as a total white knob. No worries..this world has bigger problems than this. This is not the way to do it.

Woah! I did mine on my 05 Cayenne and you saw the results. Maybe the knobs are made of different materials. Mine is black all the way through. Sorry to hear that Larry!

Yes on some they are a film (almost like a thick decal) over a white knob.

same result, I did it with alcohol, that I tried to dilute to 70% and an ultrasonic cleaner, took 3 minutes to strip off the paint, mine was also white and painted/coated. Well-well, new ones are 38USD so not the end of the day. I could see how the dirt and grime came off in about 30 seconds in the cleaner, should have stopped it then and it would have worked perfectly

Only thing that worked okay for me was Turtle Wax tar and bug remover. everything else I tried was a waste of time/money

You need to change your title:
You didn’t clean any “buttons,” only knobs. Big difference 😒
