OMG...the late Bobby Hatfield! I watched him sing this song in 1965. I'm a baby boomer growing up listening to their music. I have their vinyl record albums in my collection. I still play their greatest CD in my car. ❤️ ❤️❤️❤️

Bobby was definitely one of the greatest singers ever. In a league of his own. Can sing original, covers, any genre magnificently. He and Bill Medley we're the Dynamic Duo as the Righteous Brothers. Are in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame and truly deserve it. There would be a revolution if they weren't. Ahahaha 😁. Seriously they definitely belong there.

the really high notes in this song as called almost whistle register notes
You wanted to know how high he could go? I don't think he had a limit; I don't think there were enough piano keys for what he was capable of. Both men had such unique voices and when they sang together it doubled the magic. Thank you for your reaction to this amazing singer.

"Summertime" was written by George Gershwin as part of "Porgy & Bess" back in 1934 and has been recorded thousands of times, notably by Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Mahalia Jackson, Sam Cooke, The Marcels, Herbie Mann, Ricky Nelson, Billy Stewart, Janis Joplin, Big Mama Thorton, and Sublime (as "Doin' Time"). According to Guinness World Records, "Summertime" holds the world record for the total number of recorded versions (67,591 in 2017). The Billy Stewart version from 1966 resounds with blasting horns and rapid fire scat singing like you won't believe. The Janis Joplin version stands out for her singing, of course, but also for its psychedelic arrangement which varies considerably from other versions.
