He was a tenor with a counter tenor range. Countertenors were typically castrati and have a similar sound to a choirboy

The song Summertime comes from the opera “Porgy and Bess” and most famous by Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and Janis Joplin. Bobby is rocking it though. He could really sing 🎶

I was curious, and I looked up the word opera, and this is what it said. A dramatic work, in one or more acts, set to music for singers and instrumentalists. But I understand what you mean, when people say, opera, people think of a diva with the high-pitched singing.
Bill and his daughter still sing together today. RIP Bobby!

No. They are not biological brothers. They are Bobby Hatfield Counter Tenor voice and Bill Medley Baritone voice. They got their name when they performed at a club down south back in the early 60's. When a black United States Marine probably stationed at Camp Lejeune North Carolina yelled out after hearing them performed "That's Righteous Brother." Hence the named "The Righteous Brothers" was born. The rest as they say is history. Bobby Hatfield was awesome here with his great counter tenor voice. This man could of sang opera. Brilliant!

Summertime was an aria written by George Gershwin for the opera Porgy and Bess. Ira Gershwin and Dubose Hayward wrote the lyrics. The story was written by Hayward.
Hey Britt. There are numerous songs by both of them together and solo. You can react to Bill's solo hits like "Brown Eyed Woman" (code for a white guy in love with a black woman in the 60´s) or "Time of My Life" from the legendary movie Dirty dancin. Also, Bobby singing "Ebb Tide" is phenomenal or both of them singing "You´ll never walk alone"- live. All of these songs are worth listening to. Just do it, you won´t regret it. Unfortunately Bobbie passed away several years ago. Bill Medley still tours and still has that strong voice.

I love the way the great ones from my era are being heard again, especially this duo with the incomparable Bobby Hatfield. I always wondered if that one note in his whisper register in the middle of the last run broke any of the lights in the studio. I think my bifocals shifted. Anyway, thank you so much for giving these amazing artists a listen and I'm going to jump in the dryer to cool down. That 6'1, blue eyed, Swedish American blond hunk sill has that affect on me.

11:21 I very much appreciate how you react to the many genres available to us. I just turned 74, yesterday; the Righteous Brothers have been involved in my life since the 60’s. My first wife and I made ‘Unchained Melody’ our song and featured it in our wedding. It felt quite appropriate! I also felt it was the right choice to play at her memorial service! So many of their songs have fit my life like a glove, especially Bobby’s solo selections. I recently discovered, through another reactor, an unreleased demo called ‘Stay with me’. I consider this song to be his most soulful ever! It’s strictly audio with photos from his life appearing on the screen. I think you and your followers will be shocked and amazed.
