Thank you for listening, glad you both enjoyed it!
My mother loved your voice and songs in the 1960’s as I remembered, my wife 50 years later and today people still love your voice. Incredible Sir Tom Jones, respect!
You and Cilla Black, The Platters was on our LP player 24/7 ❤️
Timeless perfection!
When I was a kid I thought you and Elvis were pretty gross but I'm grown up now and this music just makes my insides quiver! 😘
Tom Jones is a total beast. Voice and soul of the century. I’ve listened to that song hundreds of times and it still gives me goosebumps. Incredible!
Keep in mind that in 1967 this was a live performance, live orchestra, no auto-tune and makes it all the more incredible.
This was on Dusty Springfield’s TV series.
This was amazing. And live!… 😂. Shocked? Hell, they don’t do that now a days!….
@@honey23b2no, they do, it’s just either not as common or if they do they still have backing tracks and etc. because of technology that was nonexistent back then
These youngin’s don’t know what great music they missed.
Tom is..THE VOICE! Omg I grew up listening to him... my mom had his albums, and others of course. This song tho.. the 3rd time he sings ill never fall in love, you miss the subtle little " gasp" he makes with the words...and the angst of losing his love. Listen again.. you will hear it.. just before the end. Like his heart has been torn 💔 out.
And Tom is still singing today at 80 years old. Fantastic voice
Actually he’s 82! His birthday was June!
Women still throwing their underwear on stage too. His voice is amazing, Elvis liked him
Tom still great today. Englebert Humperdinck from the same era as Tom is also a great singer. They both spent years in Vegas competing against each other👍👍👍👍👍👍
He and I have the same birthday, Tom is 82 years old. Nobody sings better !
An absolute legend
No auto tune, no effects, just amazing 👍👏👏👏👏
Not only is that THE Tom Jones.
That's SIR Tom Jones! He's a legend.
Received an OBE (Order of the British Empire) and was knighted by the Queen for his contribution to music!
Yummy !!!!! .9rdsons
Hong Kong, you are correct. Still just as good in his 80's. He is a wonderful coach on The Voice UK. Still makes the ladies swoon.
That "legend" at 53 years old had an affair with an underage girl who later killed herself when they split. What a guy!
@@pastorofmuppets22 Go back to reading your tabloids.
Even Elvis Presley asked Tom Jones "how do you sing like that?".
Elvis and Tom were good friends. They both had shows in Vegas.
@@kens32052 Elvis gave Tom Jones his nickname, "The Voice."
Per Tom (on Conan), they 1st met in 1965 & Elvis asked "How do you sing like that. Where do you get it from” & Tom replied, "well, you know, listening to people like you.”
Tom Jones looked up to Elvis
I believe the response was, "It's your fault."
Tom Jones is 82 years old and still has such an amazing voice when he sings live.
It was LIVE, solo, no mixing, no sampling, no auto-tune, no synth, nothing but the singer and the song. A lost art, for sure.
Just had his 80th birthday. Still got the voice
Yes he does he is such a strong voice
81st
And the looks!
He's a coach on Britain's version of the Voice. Just turned 80 years old, and still can sing as good as 1967. There are clips of the Voice shows where he's singing with Jennifer Hudson and they sound so good together and you would never think that 40 to 45 years of age difference is between them.
@Reg Williams @Mitzi Person ...Tom just had his eighty-first birthday (he was born June 7th, 1940. And he sure does still have the voice, and it's deeper and even richer and more bluesy. It's an incredible gift that man has, God bless him. What an awesome entertainer!
Raise your hands with Tom Jones and Janis Joplin is a must see
YES!!!! It's mind-blowing to see them together!
Live... No computer enhancement... No lip singing.
Just pure raw gut talent.
55 years later and his voice still sounds amazing!
When men could sing using their voice, not a computer.
No autotune in that!
Applause!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
God i hate autotune so friking much what happened to talent and soul
They still can. Tom is brilliant, but let’s not fall into that cliché-ridden world of “all today’s artists are auto-tuned”, it’s a fallacy.
I'm 70 years old and Tom Jones is my favorite singer, this man is 81years old and still has that amazing voice, the singers now cheat if you sing out of tune they can fix your voice the old singers are the real singers!!!!@
Amber the word you were looking for was crooner. Tom is definitely one.
No he is not a crooner.
He is a singer! Not a crooner.
You should look up the top 10 crooners, I believe Tom is second on the list, but what the hell do I know.
yeah he's def. a crooner. (I don't think the term is limited to a "talking" style. )
@Rob Squad Reactions @Joseph Humann ...Amber, Tom Jones is not a crooner primarily, but he can croon when he wants to. Listen to his delivery on the old standard "Autumn Leaves" in 1965... with his voice all soft, smoky, and wistful: ruclips.net/video/CNQtUL8x-_8/видео.html
Tom can do just about every style, every genre. He could have gone into opera, but he didn't want to be limited. His roots are in R&B, Gospel, Soul, and Rock & Roll, but he is fearless. Check out "If I Only Knew" for Tom's foray into some rap in 1994: ruclips.net/video/5ChSfmpBV3g/видео.html
Another performance to hear is one he did in the French Quarter in New Orleans in 2011 for a TV special with Hugh Laurie. Hugh played the piano, there was a small band and some backup singers in this small venue, and Tom sang "Baby, Please Make A Change": ruclips.net/video/fMSxFcmiNGc/видео.html
Plus, don't miss Tom's impromptu 2021 performance of "Cry To Me" on The Voice UK where he's a judge and coach. When the Zoom audience members were clamoring for him to sing, he killed it: ruclips.net/video/aYC5qwekT-g/видео.html
Yes, you could call Tom a "crooner," but he is also a soul, R&B, ballad, gospel, pop, country, and rock'n'roll singer.
On his 60s tv show, he sang with most of the greatest artists and made it look so easy. He is a master of lyrics, inflection, emotion, nuance, perfect pitch....I could go on and on. He is called a LEGEND because he IS.
... and the blues.
I'd forgotten just how fabulous this man is. Bravo Tom Jones
"She's a Lady" was another of his big hits.
The look on Amber’s face and her reactions tell you everything you need to know about Tom Jones and his effect on the ladies then and now. 😍😍😍
My thoughts exactly!😂
Amber is in love…. Just like all the other women over the years :)
I don't know any manly man that sings like that nowadays. It'd be like Henry Cavill with a voice as strong and rich as this. Unheard of!
Tom Jones had a natural voice enhanced by formal singing training. His voice coach wanted him to go into opera because his vocal range was incredible. He chose another direction which led to his fame. Among his many fans were Frank Sinatra, and Elvis Presley.
Annnd he rocked the tight leather pants 😊. Annnd he could and I hope still can dance. 🥰
The greatest male singing voice of all time. He could sing anything
He's still releasing new music in his 80s.
And women are still throwing their underwear on stage, sometimes. Well, depends...
He was always a woman’s man, however he’s been married to the same woman for 50 years. What a guy ❤️
His wife passes away some time ago.
His wife Melinda died in 2016.
One of the fringe benefits of being Tom Jones' wife is she never had to buy panties. LOL
He may have been married for 50 years, but he cheated on her with numerous women. He even had a 2-year affair with Mary Wilson of The Supremes.
and he cheated all along..
This is a master piece. I am so happy to see that young people appreciate this type of music 🙏👏👏👏❤
His popularity is so well deserved. He was part of Queen Elizabeth's jubilee concert this year, singing 'Delilah'
Him and Shirley Bassie are both Welsh gems.
Love Delilah!
I love Tom Jones voice
I love Tom Jones voice
Da iawn
Tom Jones is 80 years old now, he just released a new album “Surrounded by Time” which went to No. 1 in Great Britain
He can still sing just as well as he did, he just hasn't got the long notes due to lack of breath these days.. he's still unbelievable...
Stayed In The Charts For 4 Weeks Then Disappeared . Little Old Elvis Been In The Charts For Over 6 Months. We Live 20Miles From Thomas Woodward (Real Name )Home Town .Like MOST Of The Lads And Ladies In Our Pub Wouldn't Waste Our Time Buying Him A Pint .His EGO Makes You Want To Throw Up .

One of my mom's favorites. Grew up on these great hits. Try - What's New Pussycat, Delilah or the most popular - It's Not Unusual.
Yes , those are not crooner songs.
My favorites also.
And "She's A Lady", "Green, Green Grass of Home", "Without Love".
My mother too. She also liked Engelbert Humperdinck.
@@dextersinister6704 OMG ! Yes ! Along with Neil Sedaka and Barry Manilow. ❤
That's what you call real singing. What a technique, that throat very open, clean attack in the notes, no dragging the voice, beautiful low notes. Tom Jones still sings almost the same way. He must be around 80 years old. Voices like at not born every day. He's a blessed man.
I saw Tom Jones in San Carlos, California, @ the Circle star theater with my husband , in 1968, I think. It was a glorious evening and my husband was so jealous , he knew that I had a big crush on Tom . Who sings better than he-absolutely nobody !
They were called “crooners”. Guys who could stand on stage basically alone and belt out a song with a background orchestra or other musical accompaniment.
Perry Como, Andy Williams, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and several others were all crooners from that era. Try "The Righteous Brothers" for more songs and singing that women, for generations, all felt deeply and emotionally.
@@BertSmithLondon I think you’re right, he was of a later generation that didn’t use that name. But he was their equal in talent, and maybe even better than most of them.
I still remember when there was a rumor that Tom Jones and Engelbert Humperdinck were actually the same person. The latter’s name seemed to ridiculous to be real. Plus they sounded very similar.
Ha! He had the moves that wasn't shown on his TV show but in concert he was surrounded with women's undies!! Saw it for myself, it was crazy!!! lol 😍
I saw Tony Bennett perform in person back in the mid-1970s. He came out on stage and didn't speak a word, but started singing, going nearly non-stop for 45 minutes in an outside venue on a very warm summer evening in Dallas.
More like "pop - balladeers" but definitely singers with strong vocal proficiency.
Sir Tom is a coach on the British Voice and sometimes sings on there his voice is still as wonderful and powerful as back in the sixties he sang this song on the voice with the son of the songwriter..fabulous
I was going to suggest that they listen to him sing it at age 80 and he's still flawless. ruclips.net/video/-gB3TAarpYA/видео.html
I loved when the son of the man who wrote that song auditioned and he was the only one to turn around. They sang a duet with the son playing and singing. I cried
@@bookmiss Actually his voice isn't as good as it was in the 60s but it still very good.
@@bookmiss I cried too
@@sargoth37 You are missing the point.
He is still alive and singing just as great!!! He's on The Voice-Britain. Just amazing!! Thank you for listening - so glad you loved it!
I remember the shows in color, with his shirt open and his scarf and tight pants.
All the women screaming and throwing their bras and panties at him. Tom Jones would dry his sweat with his scarf and throw it back at the audience. I remember him drying other body parts with his scarf and/or handkerchief and throwing them to the audience. I was maybe 8 and it was 1972ish and I learned what it means to have power and absolute domination of the moment.
What a voice, Tom Jones is his own category.
Sir Tom is another one of those singers who doesn't need auto tune, auto tune needs him. A true legend
Grandioso y único TomJones
Amazing seeing younger generations listening to music I grew up with. My mother would melt every time she heard him sing. Guys music old school & new brings people together. Thanks for remembering old school. ❤
Tom Jones is a great singer. He has a powerful voice.
I was 7 years old in 1967. I grew up with his songs. Legend
ME TO IM 60 now
I'm a bit younger at 55, but I heard my first Tom Jones song when I was about 6 "What's New Pussy Cat" and was hooked on that astounding voice ever after...
Tom Jones still impresses. Great personality. All class, all the time. Thank you, Wales!
Mr Tom Jones, a voice of voices. that man could really sing. thank you for sharing.
"The Green Green Grass of Home" would bring tears to your eyes. Tom Jones was indeed very big. And it's worth considering that perhaps singers at the time were possibly better than some singers now because they had to rely on their own voices and charisma to pull off a performance. They worked harder and couldn't fall back on lip-syncing, autotune, backup dancers, pyrotechnics or other distractions. They could be alone on stage and mesmerize audiences. Bob Dylan performing at the Royal Albert in London from the film "Don't Look Back" had that gift. Not such a classic voice, but so compelling.
No one would ever confuse Dylan with great vocals. But Dylan is the story teller if there ever was one. And one of the greatest lyricist of all time. His Desire album has no weak tracks.
@@royalway12 Dylan's vocals are not a detriment to his songs... his voice is an instrument so distinctive, its grate and timing underscores the storytelling and the lyrics in a way that a silky, melodic voice would not.

The Green Green Grass of Home STILL brings tears to my eyes - if not outright sobs. I was very young then and remember when I realized what the song was about. I bawled like the "baby" I was. Before that, it was just "music". After that, I paid more attention to see what the songs were about.
I think a lot of hit makers today are "style over substance". One famous female singer is that way - has an ok voice and entertains with dancers, sexy outfits, etc. That's fine, but as a singer, there are better ones.
Perfect blue eye soul Tom is a national hero here in the UK,his singing on THE Voice (hes a judge) at 80 is stunning, Cry To Me,his cover of the Soliman Burke classic is as good as the original
Tom Jones had his own TV show in the late 60's. I watched it every week! He had some pretty sexy dance moves. Also quite a few hit records. "What's New Pussycat", "Green Green Grass of Home", and more...
Tom is a solo artist, that song was written for him by another famous brithish artist called lonnie donnegan and was a massive hit record for tom, this tv appearance was 1967, tom is in his eighties now but can still sing, just pure raw talent. No autotune or lip synching back then, completely live and one take.
Lonnie had written and released this 5 years before but his own record got nowhere.
Brilliant
As a judge on the Voice, he was the only one to turn for Peter Donegan- Lonnie's son.
@wesley mangula that's right and he sung the song together with donnegans son. Brilliant
@@garethbrown2456 and killed it. His voice is so powerful you’d think he would have damaged it singing for so long. Nope… he’s still got it.
I just saw a video of not long ago, Tom Jones singing, CRY TO ME! Complete with some dancing! Very entertaining!
Please react to Tom Jones singing “She’s a Lady” and “Delilah”
She's a Lady has been driving the "woke" folks crazy recently.. it even got blocked on some of the social formats
YES
Definitely Delilah. I'm from Wales, maybe half hour drive from Sir Tom Jones' birthplace. It was a big thing when we held mini Eisteddfod's for St. Davids day at school; lot's of singing, dancing awards in specific subjects etc.
Then one year the school decided to try and ban us singing Delilah (back in early 2000's for whatever reason). They refused to play it so some of the school orchestra kids played it anyway and we all sang along.
They kept trying until I left school becase 'it was inappropriate' but we always found a way.
Oh man I forgot about Delilah. Loved that song too
If you ever watched the fresh Prince of Bel Air you will recall the Carlton‘s favorite singer was Tom Jones!

I´m obsessed with You´ve Got What It Takes, with Fran Jeffries too...
I just watched Tom sing this song on The Voice with the son of the man who wrote the song for him. He's 80 now and he still sounded great!
Thank you for the suggestion. I watched that video and Sir Tom Jones was amazing.
Tom lost his wife, the great love of his life a few short years ago. In that performance you got the sense he misses her deeply. It was a moving performance
I saw that too and was blown away!
You're right, the duet is fantastic
Yes I watched him sing with Lonnie Donegans son ....beautiful it was.
Still as powerful as ever and Tom was touched to meet his old friends son.
After a very long illustrious successful career. He went on to be a legend in Las Vegas, They came to see him.

Total class and elegance, well groomed and well dressed, and a voice to melt you.
And he sings so technically perfect, he STILL sounds like that today. Amazing artist.
he can sure "build" a song to new heights. Just epic. So much talent, and he's handsome devil !! lol
He's now 83 and I finally saw him LIVE in concert 3 years ago! I've been a fan since I was a little girl since my Mom listened to him! Check out his video with JANIS JOPLIN!
one of the all time great voices
There is a thing called the Tom Jones effect. It's that one precise moment when his voice triggers a reaction in every female on the planet ( and men too). That moment hits at different times for different people. I've watched countless reactions to Sir Tom over the past 2 years and in every one of those videos, you can clearly see it happen when it does hit them. For example here in this reaction, at the 3:06 mark, you can see on Amber's lovely face when Tom's voice makes her swoon, again like every other female on Earth past, present, & future... If you watch some of Tom's previous concerts from the 60's & 70's, you'll see the front of the stage covered with ladies panties, bras, and hotel room keys that the audience had tossed to him - LOL! I remember being a little kid & thinking "what is wrong with these women? Ew, why are they throwing their underwear at him? How gross, they're all crazy!" Now I get it!
Yes Ma’am us men too! Even is straight alpha males!
I'm 82 years young, and have a Bromance with Tom.
I think he had Amber ready to throw something??
@@shawnmckenna6816 Exactly. I think it’s just a human reaction. I don’t get that reaction from every singer but he does something to me. That voice hits the soul.
LOVE Tom Jones voice, but always felt like you'd catch something from him once his image changed to the open shirts, big crosses and he played up the sexuality so much. (That came after this classy era). He is LEGEND though! And love to see reaction. to Delilah and Green Green Grass of Home.
Tom Jones is one of the Gods of Music!
Loved Amber's reaction!!!!! Very Sensual... You can tell she was totally engulfed in the moment. Tom is a Beast!!!!
Tom's vibratos are perfect. That's what really strikes me about his voice. He doesn't over do them and there's a decent amount of delay before starting one.
Tom Jones here…and Bobby Hatfield in “Unchained Melody” on the Andy Williams Show…two of the greatest live vocal performances in television history!
Queen @ Live Aid was THE best...This is definitely 2 or 3
Andy Williams, most definitely. I loved it when he had his brothers sing with him at Christmas.
Diggin up all the classics. You can still catch Tom Jones on the British Voice. He is/was a judge and still has a wonderful voice.
Ahhh Sir Tom! Blessed with beautiful voice that stands the test of time even still. Every now and then he'll sing on The Voice UK. You can catch it on RUclips.

Brook Benton did a fabulous version of 'I who have nothing'!
So, today his voice is "just" on par with every other singer. Because back in the day his voice blew up microphones - literally, I'm not kidding. :)
He should be in jail.A 53 year old Tom had an affair with a 16 year old Nicole Hall, who killed herself when they split.Tom's a role model for all young men, huh?
Back in the day Tom Jones was a good friend of Elvis Presley, and Elvis himself said he admired and respected Tom's ability. That performance was live.
Totally brilliant….and he sings the same today. Awesome singer and lovely man. X❤️
Cry to me is good to listen to. He's an original who can still sing. And now Sir Tom Jones
The pride of the Welsh valleys, Tom Jones' first big break came when he was asked to sing a guide vocal on a song destined for English popstar Sandie Shaw. On hearing the track, Shaw immediately knew a star was born. That tune (with Tom on vocals) was 'It's Not Unusual' - a colossal domestic hit that put him on the map overnight. Still active in his 80's, he can give modern vocalists a run for their money!
They might know that one from The Fresh Prince of Bel Air
With your knowledge of his career, you're aware of the fact at 53 years old,he had an affair with Nicole Hall...a minor who killed herself when they split.Wales should be proud
Back in the day Tom Jones was the quintessential ladies man. At his concerts, women would throw panties on stage, and believe it or not, that's a fact.
Get it right!! They would tie HOTEL ROOM KEYS to the Panties!!!
he has to have the worlds largest collection of hotel keys too.
lol I knew someone would say that lol
They'd throw panties at him during his TV appearances! I'm amazed they got away with that back in the sixties.

It was panties actually. For a long time, wiping the sweat off his forehead with them was part of his act.

I never really understood it. I was never a fan.
It wasn't the songs that had women throwing those things on stage. It was his hips....lol.

The word you're looking for is "crooner." Other notable examples include Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby.
Tom Jones is not a crooner. Never was.
No. He is not a crooner by any means. He has absolute control of his voice.
Agree. Not a crooner. The word started in the late 1920’s/early 30’s when electric recording and microphones enabled singers to sing softly and tenderly. When they sang without amplification and recorded into a horn it required more power. Tom is a belter.
For the record, I agree with all of you; Tom Jones isn't a crooner. A big, bombastic number like "It's Not Unusual" would have been a more representative sample of his work.
But it is still the word Amber was looking for.
He's more of a "belter" than a "crooner".
When they talk about Blue Eyed Soul, their speaking about Sir Tom Jones, a True Artist!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
