He is much more than a crooner. Yes he can sing love songs, but this guy is so soulful, so expressive, so able to rock. He does rock and soul!

I've never heard of another artist who could sing as many genres as Tom.... Rock n roll, Soul, Ballads, Rhythm & Blues, he could (and still can) sing to them all, and more.
So Sexy! You had to be there in the day. Unbelievably, his voice is still Perfect, even at 81! Never heard anyone with a better retention of their voice into his senior years. Y’all don’t know how rare that is! After all, vocal chords are muscles, and they are affected by time and age, just like everything else. He’s lost his hips, but it’s the voice that really matters.

Tom Jones is pure legend! A voice unparalleled. Back in the day when kissing on the mouth was not feared, the funky chicken dance dominated, kids drinking out of garden hoses was a nightly thing and nobody died from it, ALL kids in the neighborhood played baseball in the street until nightfall, the "bomb-pop" man drove by every evening to bring us popsicles for a dime, and the Ed Sullivan show guests were what we anticipated ALL WEEK. EVERYONE got along. A great time to be alive.

He's still rocking. Went to see him a few days ago in UK. At the young age of 80, he's still got some moves, albeit a little slower. Fantastic voice.
Its not unusual you want to be loved by someone. This a hit song, you here on fresh prince of belair, Carlton trys to dance and sing to.
I think he'll have that wonderful voice to the day he dies. It hasn't faded on him like some other artists.

I Googled him to see a pic and his age and for 81 he looks pretty good and I listened to some of the album Greatest Hits and he sounds Great. Pretty unbelievable.

This is like discovering that your grandparents were once young, and wild, and pretty much explains how your parents got here in the first place! Sir Tom at 82 is still a phenomenal singer, and can still can drive the ladies crazy with that sensational voice!
He’s now in his 80’s and his voice is as strong as ever.
Tom Jones Wife was the most patient woman who has ever lived! They were married in 1957 until her death in 2016. She loved him in spite of a LOT of other women being on the scene. He really lived up to the reputation

That's ok. My mother had such an Uber crush on him too. What woman back then didn't? The family joke was that she was going to run away with him. That one backfired on them. My sibs an I were so insecure we ended up watching the show waiting for the horse races to come on tv. Not what you think. My mom worked at the race track. And since the races in this area were televised we would see her now and then. We didn't care about the horses.
I liked that version, buti thought I was a joke at first. I was listening to the radio at work. And the djs were known for being pranksters and recording their own spoof songs.
Sir Tom Jones is a legend who can turn his hand to any genre. He goes from love songs to soul to rock n roll. Even now he is 80, he will still sing for an audience at the drop of a hat. A massive crowd pleaser and sing along is Delilah, Its not unusual is another huge hit but he also did an album of songs dueting with recent big stars.
I think "She's a Lady" is the song that I'm more familiar with. And as far as crooners go, Frank Sinatra!

My family watched his variety show every week. My dear sweet mom would do her knitting as she watched. When Tom did a song that made him dance like this she would stop knitting and say "He has a nice voice if he would just stand still." She kept watching the performance and her knitting did not resume until the song was over. He is a remarkable performer with a great voice.

OKI am 67 years old and like most women of my age had a major crush on Tom Jones I have not seen this video in years and years but that man the dancing the vibe the music the sexiness you just don't see that in today's artist you just don't they broke the mold with him
I first heard TJ in Sao Paulo, Brazil... I was 6 years old. My parents had a black and white TV set and they were watching, what I believe it was called, This Is Tom Jones. It changed my life - and what a long and difficult life it was. I came to the United States in 1984. I didn't speak a word of English and was robbed on my first day in Miami, Florida. I got to see him in concert in Atlanta, Georgia - I believe it was in 1986. My family name is Cavalcanti but I changed it to Jones, therefore, Jesselee Jones. I have lived all of my dreams I had made for my life... all but one... meeting him in person. I am friends with folks who know him but I have never asked for the favor. I live in Nashville, TN. I am a Traditional Country Music singer and performer, our band is called Brazilbilly. Thank you for bringing all of those wonderful memories back!

He was known for his gyrations so much so that he's had a hip replacement and is prepping for one more. Check out his TV show from back in the day 'This is Tom Jones' on RUclips. Frank Sinatra was one of his biggest fans. If Tom Jones had a show in Vegas, Sinatra would leave his own show in a rush to catch the end of Ton's act. Sinatra dubbed Tom "The Voice". He's the inspiration for that show, which is why it is so great they finally got him to be a judge.
BTW he has a great duet with Janis Joplin from when he had his own TV show. He featured LOTS of rock and roll and R&B artists too.

I stayed at her house and watched his show once. Every weekend after that I was at her house to watch his show with her. lol Then my mother saw the show and she wouldn't let me go up to her house anymore because she didn't want me to get too Tom Jonesy. lol I was so sad.... cause I think he was/is so hot. When I was in college, I worked at the campus stadium/center where we had concerts. I was an usher and ticket taker. Normally when we had a concert, it was no big deal, we checked in and went to our assigned section. But with Tom, we had to have a pre-meeting to warn us about what was going to happen and how we had to line up and make a protective barrier for the entrance walk way that Tom walked through to get to the stage. It was unreal. You see the way those women were screaming, there were about 8000 screaming women that night. It was quiet a night. Needless to say he held the audience in the palm of his hand.
There’s a reason why they called him Tiger Tom. I saw him in his 70s and he still has the same pipes! Great show!!

When I was 12 years old - a loooong time ago - I fell totally in love with him and crushed on him through most of my teen years, while my friends loved Donny Osmond, David Cassidy, etc. Ahhhh, memories. I taped the audio from his TV show on my little cassette player and listened to it daily. The Tom Jones song on Fresh Prince is "It's Not Unusual." You'll also love "What's New Pussycat?" and his duet with Van Morrison "Sometimes We Cry" will surely be a hit with Amber.
Van Morrison is another GREAT artist you should check out. Some of his best are "Brown Eyed Girl" "Tupelo Honey" and "Moon dance" (my favorite) just to get y'all started.

Tom Jones was married to his childhood sweetheart for "59" years. They met at 8 years old. That's true love and devotion.
Wales, the land of song, is a lovely little country, with the greenery, the hills, mountains, meadows, rivers, lakes and sea. The Green Green Grass of Home and It's Not Unusual are great. Tom certainly had a lot of naughty times with women (understandably), but was married for 59 years to Linda- childhood sweethearts and already parents aged 16- until her death from cancer. Oh, microphones were a Welsh invention!
