The Miner's son from Wales who, despite his incredible career, still acts as if he can't quite believe it's happened to him. Put a mic in front of him, though, and he can sing the phone book. Perhaps the greatest male vocalist produced by the British Isles.

SIR Tom Jones. Queen Elizabeth knighted him because of his importance to UK and world music culture. I think everyone can agree on that, and agree that he deserves to be called by his full title for amazing he is.

Yes the order is important.. you'll understand once you've heard them...the first 2 are in what was called a 'Crooner' style..the last is different as you will see.. however they are all done quite powerfully...

I got to meet Sir Tom a long time ago when I worked security for a couple of his shows. As I recall, he was very gracious and kind to everyone, and he made sure we all ate well.

I love this performance by the Welsh Wonder Tom Jones. I had a hard time watching some of his later performances because I was embarrassed by the smooching! Honestly, he was/is magnificent.

He's definitely a legend! Next song u will just love by him is called,, She's a Lady! And also,, What's New Pussycat! They r 2 of my favorites! Also, so many women were in love with him, and got carried away at his concerts! ALOT of them would throw their bras and underpants up on stage!
In the days of talent, NO gimmicks existed like today, you had talent or you didn't, period.
If Tom has a superpower, it's his ability to 'sell' a song. So many women ask the question, 'who did this to him?' The reality is that Tom married his high school sweetheart and they were together until her death in 2012. The man is a class act.

That's my favorite Tom Jones song. Yes, he and Elvis were good friends. Elvis called Tom "The Voice"; a bit prophetic maybe. They used to go to each others concerts, and hangout after the shows. The guy who wrote the song, Lonnie Donegan, also recorded it and it's on RUclips. You can compare the two and it's a great demonstration of how a great song needs the right arrangement and the right vocal to make it magical. The original is ok, Tom lifts it to another level completely.

The Welsh are noted for their wonderful singers, also actors and TV personalities, all with beautiful rich melodious voices.
It occurred to me just now Tom Jones would have made a fine opera singer, had he chosen to go down that path - he certainly seems to have had the basic equipment! Not that he hasn't had an amazing, and long-standing career in popular/ non-classical music. Starting from humble beginnings, he hit the big time in the 60s with his talent and charisma, and never looked back.
Tom is , of course, Welsh. A nice contrast would be to try Paolo Nutini - Iron Sky (Abbey Road Live Session). Paulo has Italian ancestry, but speaks with a broad Glasgow (Paisley) accent.

He is Welch and I am from a Welch background myself and they look like they are Italians and Greeks when they are young.. Tom had a terrible health issue when he was young but the pain was rewarded with mass success....

Great reaction. But you are missing a treat. Tom just turned 84 last week (June 7) and he is a regular on The Voice UK. One of the talents on the show was Peter Donnegan, who's father Lonnie Donnegan wrote this song for Tom. And Peter played and sang it with Tom on the show.

The numerous stories of how women reacted in his heyday to his live concerts in Las Vegas are amusing. Night after night they would throw their undergarments and their hotel keys on the stage! He could not ride the elevators because he would be swarmed by smitten females. Amazing.
