Left shoulder down "toward the ball" is key for me in the backswing and downswing is "tuck rear end under myself" (feels like reverse C finish). Great video as always!
I watched a video of Mike Bennett swinging a six iron, down the line view. On the backswing, he starts in with his hands and then lifts them until his left arm is about even with his right shoulder. It appears in the video he goes back to the ball in a more direct path. Much has been made of how the club is swung back. I don't see how it matters as long as the proper, desired positions of the club and body are attained. Mike has a very enviable, graceful repeating swing that makes hitting good golf shots look so easy, but we all know it can be like a house of cards.
Thanks, Nick, for more excellent instruction. In 2012, I was studying S&T (all of Andy's and Mike's materials) and used, at least, the left shoulder down movement in my swing. That move gave me more power and consistency. I am back now at 77 years old and determined to figure out the driver setup that will lead to the proper drive swing. I just got a Swing Caddie SC 300 to pair with my iPhone and tripod so that I can more closely study my execution of the driver setup and movements. Never did this the last time I looked at S&T. I firmly believe that S&T can help older golfers like me--especially with an aging body that can't make the movements of youth.
Cheers Nick. Just starting to convert. Still working for consistency. 64 years old; a bit of arthritis. Still much better than the old swing. Many thanks !!
Everyone has different "feels"...this one is my favorite. I've got a couple minor variations in that for left shoulder down I include the left knee towards the ball. And for right shoulder down I try to bring my right elbow to right hip and rotate down. Works for all clubs.
This is great stuff! Getting back into the game after almost 2 years without playing due to hip issues…finally just got my right hip replaced (first one 8 years ago on left side)…I bought the Stack & Tilt book years ago and tried using that swing. I found it’s much easier on the hips, and I can hit more solidly with far less practice than before, both of which are key in my life now (I’m 52). I just discovered your channel with videos and it’s soooo much easier to follow and apply. Thank you!!! Can’t wait to hit the range today. Hoping I can get back into the high single digits HCP by summer’s end.
This is great stuff Nick, very simple to follow and has improved my game tremendously. Can you please do one series for Stack n Tilt method for Uphill lie and down hill lie ? Look fw to more awesome stuff from you
"Use the tilt to take the hands back"...this one thought has really simplified my swing. Another brilliant lesson with so many key points to help perfect the stack and tilt swing. Thanks Nick
i must admit ive tried stack tilt somewhat halfheartedly in the past, but got nowhere as i think i did not comprehend this move, i was leaning over to the left 'tilting' but very incorrectly, however after viewing this and other should tilt down vids its finally clicked, i went to the range the other day and was delighted by the consistent impact position, out of 100 balls i only genuinely mishit 4 of those balls. looking forward to building on this for the new season come March/April. wish there was a S and T tutor here in the East midlands !! pps i suspect many who have not got on with this system again have not fully understood the 'tilt' cheers
Started out with a very poor front 9 because of a rib injury. With nothing to lose, I decided to try something different, I had been experimenting with S&T to start this season. On the tenth tee, I just thought lead shoulder down to bent left knee. The back 9 ball striking wildly improved, mostly crisp shots. Something to this. 🏌️
If you start the backswing movement with left shoulder down what’s the the purpose of when taking setup position to have right shoulder slightly 9:09 down ( as it then immediately gets replaced with right shoulder down)
It's Friday . Yes sir. Thank you another great Video. Hey where can I find the coffee mug with the 10 words of stack and tilt. I saw in one of your older videos. Thanks again Nick!!!
Great video! Where are your muscles contracting in the first left shoulder down? Are you pushing the shoulder down or crunching your left obliques? I'm trying to figure out the best way to get the shoulder down. I always find myself flattening my shoulders out.
Hi Nick, been practicing this today with some success which is great. Just one question, what is the difference between hips forward and a hip slide, if any? Many Thanks
Hi Nick great video content. I seem to have one small problem is I'm drawing all my irons up to 9 iron which is great but some drawing too much. When setting up to the ball do you have your clubface slightly open to compensate for the more draw you now get with stack and tilt. Kind regards Tim
@@NickTaylorGolf I'm enjoying your videos. I just started with S&T and hooking almost everything. I realize it is hard to diagnose without seeing, but any guesses based on your previous converts from standard?
Bennett and Plummer say to move the lead shoulder down BUT NOT IN. I can't sort out where the should goes if not away from the target line. Do I push it straight back?
If you have seen the head on the wall drill, this will help give you the feel for the movement. The head should remain stable as a priority and tilting the shoulder down helps with this
I learned golf as a single plane swing and have a very upright position like how Bryson dechambeau used to have. Do you think that can be maintained while using stack and tilt? Thanks

How are you doing with the stand up and tuck your hips part? I'm almost 82 and I've decided that part is not worth the low back pain for me.
Those 10 words are very powerful.
Cheers Nick. Just starting to convert. Still working for consistency.

Nice one, keep working at it

Fantastic video! Have been working on this same move and this really helped take my ball striking to the next level. I love S and T!!
Thanks for watching I’m glad the videos help
Master lesson Nick, greets from Germany

That’s awesome to hear, keep it up 💪
Thank you Nick! Love it
Thanks for watching
Great video, Nick, headed to the range now.
Nice one Bob, good luck
Really good reminder Nick, your right knee never moves towards the ball anymore on the downswing, has it improved your swing path and release?
Great instruction Nick. Very much appreciated.

Sorry to hear about the rib injury but pleased to hear the improvement on the back 9 #S&T
Really great instruction. Thanks
Just excellent - Thanks 👍👍

Thanks David
Great simple drill!
Thanks for watching Joe
If you start the backswing movement with left shoulder down what’s the the purpose of when taking setup position to have right shoulder slightly 9:09 down ( as it then immediately gets replaced with right shoulder down)
S/b. … r sh down gets immediate replaced w l sh down
At impact the left shoulder should be even higher (tilt to right) to accommodate the hip slide and shallow the angle of attack so the setup helps this

Thanks Tone, unfortunately not for sale at the moment as students got them when they attended the stack and tilt golf camps
@@NickTaylorGolf got it . I was looking for it at your merch store. No problem thank you

I like feeling left shoulder down to start downswing.

I feel my shoulder points at the ball, so I guess whichever works for you
Good Job 👍

No difference DH

I have the same question.
Yes club face open to target at setup, your aim is to start the ball right - not at the target
@@NickTaylorGolf I'm enjoying your videos. I just started with S&T and hooking almost everything. I realize it is hard to diagnose without seeing, but any guesses based on your previous converts from standard?
Am I correct that this substitutes for the traditional shoulder turn?
Good!👍
Thanks! 😃

@@NickTaylorGolf I will find it. Thanks, Nick.
Is left shoulder down the same as left side bend?
At golftec we refer to it as tilt but yes some coaches will call it left side bend
I have found that the "right shoulder down" is required for me shift weight. target wise and follow through. Why is that?
Great video Nick! Could I ask, is it the same swing concept throughout the clubs, including chipping/pitching shots?
For the longer shots yes but I setup and swing differently when chipping
@@NickTaylorGolf Thanks for that Nick! Is there a reason you change setup and swing for chipping?
Why do you want the club face facing the ball on the way back. Is that not a shut position?
Hi nick I’m trying this stack and tilt but I’m shanking at least 8 shots per 18 holes ! HELP
I learned golf as a single plane swing and have a very upright position like how Bryson dechambeau used to have. Do you think that can be maintained while using stack and tilt? Thanks
Yes of course
Hi Nick, the drill is tough. I can't hit from P2, but P6 :-)
Keep at it
🔥🔥🔥
do all golftec coaches teach same as Nick?
