Like how the actor Matthew Porretta portrays Dr. Darling with child like glee and higher pitch voice, while he does Alan Wake with more melancholy and deeper voice. Like Batman :)
Porretta is so good! Even when Dr Darling has moments of frustration or despair in the Dark Place, his tone of voice is still different enough that you can immediately identify it as Darling and not Alan.
Darling is closer to Mathew Porretta's natural speaking voice with the eccentric enthusiasm turned up to 11. Alan has a slower and more deliberate delivery with a slightly lower tone and very flattened General American English accent. Then there's Alan's 'narrator' voice, which is probably where Mathew's best performance is. The opening and closing monologues for Alan Wake and Alan Wake 2 are outstanding.
The other end game content where Darling is trapped in the Dark Place is new, this is old from back when he was still human (before the start of Control).
@@Aqua311 Same with SCP, FBC is my favourite, Since its more grounded and realistic than SCP which seems to be an overpowered organisation. Seeing an organisation struggle, but overcome it, is more interesting than just "I contain, because we are better".
@@charlie_magne_103 To be fair, I've heard the SCP has had many struggles, especially when it concerns a particular angry unkillable lizard. What I don't get is how they manage to recapture that thing every time he escapes. There's also that Cthulu SCP who seems more than happy enough to chill in his containment cell. Keeping him inside isn't the problem. It's keeping everybody else out. Back to the FBC, it doesn't help that their technology is very limited due to the restrictions imposed by the Oldest House.
My theory is darling studied the dark presence at the lake house then returned to old house. When he got back he used hedron to interact with part of the dark presence (shadows?) before he jumped in. This sent him to the dark place explaining him meeting zane in the second video
That.. is actually not a bad theory. I was wondering how he ended up in the Dark Place; the only thing manifesting the "shadow" was Dr Hartman in the oldest house. But if he took something back to experiment with specifically against Hedron.. good thinking.
Great too see Doctor Darling. Those agents he invites to the oldest house to show Hedron later. So tthis video must have been recorded pre-fbc lockdown. Then the vids you have where he meets Tom Zane must be after he exposed himself to Hedrons power.
Darling: Since returning, there's so much I want to tell everyone! However, I understand that there's strict levels of confidentiality here at the Bureau. Jesse: Well, actually...
NGL When I read Darling's written correspondences I almost saw where Marmont was coming from calling him pretentious, then I watch this and I went "Ohhhhhhh he's autistic." I'd like to formally apologize to Dr. Darling, the fictional character, for doubting him
Yeah also Agent Estevez says there are problems at HQ and that her team "was the backup" suggesting that AW2 is shortly after the Hiss disaster and lock down with the FBC being short staffed because most of their staff in the Oldest House died. Another thing is that it's strongly suggested that AW and AW2 take place at the times of the games releases so it may also be the case that Control took place in 2019 since the message about Bright Falls in that game was "from the future."
Finally beat the game. I have a new theory that seems nuts. I think that Dr. Darling is Hedron. Or to be more precise, I think it is what Dr. Darling is becoming. A version of him like Alan that has Ascended the Spiral. It is using his past Dr. Darling as a tool to drive forward to what Darling will eventually realize his fate is. To become Hedron and to sacrifice himself for Jessie a second time. His first sacrifice in the spiral was exposing himself to Hedron to become more. It is only a matter of time until Darling realizes this. I might need to replay Control, but I think it fits.
I don't think so, mostly because Hedron constantly considers itself female. What I do think is that Hedron, "caught in a web of hypocrisy" is basically just like the Hiss, except it rides with hosts as a helpful 'parasite' rather than completely bulldoze them into puppets. In Darling's case, it seems to be elevating him into a -new- Hedron. Same with Jesse, except as a parautlitiarian, she hasn't had to shed her physical form.
@@BlazingOwnager Hedron doesn't consider itself female. That is Polaris which is an aspect of Jessie that was activated by Hedron. It is very easy to confuse the two as Jessie herself didn't understand the difference until the end.
@@Fatikis42 A completely valid and fair point! Hedron was in fact a catalyst and Polaris effectively it's creation within Jesse and Dylan (though apparently Dylan forced it out)
Key question for me is who found this videos? A new area inside the Oldest House that will be explored in Control 2? AWE DLC ends saying that the alert cane from a date in the future and Wake 2 showed the equipment triggered and we had the alert...it matches with Estévez. Ok. This Darling videos are previous but how it fit the timeline with Wake2?
It looks like this would be part of what leads up to the FBC setting up stations around the lake; specifically the decision to "test fiction's impact on reality" with those dolls & rhymes.
So Darling used Data from Cauldron Lake on the Dark Place and Dark Presence in Hedron’s research… No wonder the project ended in disaster lol. I hope Jesse will get Screen Time in The Lake House DLC 😫😫
So according to Dr. Daling, Shadow Domain (or Dark Place) is source of all Altered Items leaking to our plane of existance? Seems that if someone preforms an art with any of the ordinary objects (for example child putting drawing on fridge) and then when Shadow touches object through AWE it creates Altered Items. AWE alone is not able then to create Altered Item or Object of Power.
