Great information!!! You make that video perfect!!!! Some people don't even film that part they just take it off and just show it to you so you did an amazing job 👍🏻
Thank you for sharing this video. I started experiencing an oil leak from my 2009 Ford F-150 4.6 and I thought it was from the oil filter to I tightened it some more, but I think that it may be my oil filter gasket. I'll check it more thoroughly. Your video was quick but very informative. Gracias!!! You have earned a like from me and my subscription to your RUclips channel!!! 🙏
Welcome to the Channel, also Glad you Enjoyed the Video. Clean were the oil filter adapter is joined to the engine block. It might take a while to show a leak, just make sure it's not leaking from the valve cover gasket
Great job & detailed knowledge & information. That's very important for us non mechanics & first timers. Thanks a million. Keep up the great work. I subscribed. Cary
Has anyone noticed pitting from poor casting in their adapter on the side that mates with the engine? I changed my gasket yesterday and I cleaned it up but there are pits all the around the water port. They aren't bad but I sure wish Autozone had replacements but they said it was a dealer item. Either way, I went ahead and put it all back together with the new gasket. As of today after driving about 10 miles and sitting all night, there is no leaking. Also thanks for the video it was very helpful.
No pitting. You must have bought a pos that no one did any maintenance and used tap water with acid. Sell that shit son. Probably never changed the oil too.
we all know how much extra pita filming the video is.. i was rebuilding my front suspension, and though why not do the gearbox, power steering pump, and everything else! nice video, thank you
🤙🤙 Boss's runner truck is leaking oil into the coolant and loosing coolant too. Couldnt help but see the oil dipping good from the cooler. Its time. They think im wrong because they say they had lost 2 gallons of coolant. Well its pressurizing too and leaking from fitting and etc. Also said he ping it on the hot side so maybe he blew it up. Idk but i know the cooler is bad.
Now a days, the brands are choosing to manufacture in one place with a bad reputation, and that place earned it. If you would have asked years ago, I probably would have mentioned one. Look at the brands that have been manufacturing over 30 years, older might be better, they might want to keep there reputation and offer quality control if they want to be in business
the motorcraft one I got from the dealer was $11 something.. parts dot ford dot com has really good prices, and they may even price match rock auto. Motorcraft is the most tried and true in the majority of these vehicles, as there are multiple variations to a certain part SKU
Can you do a video of F350 2005 5.4 4x4 change a broken dipstick tube I have to change the manifold but the dipstick tube was broken and I can't see where the dipstick hole is located I think I will need to take the filter adapter.
Thank you for the great information. In one other You Tube video of the same subject the mechanic recommended draining the coolant from the rear engine block's water jacket by removing the hex plug. I notice you did not do that. Can you explain?
Is there a tool that was not mentioned in this video time line? If so, please advise us where on the time line. Making a tool list sounds like it would be a good idea to consider in later videos
i got all 3 loose except the bottom one. I had to heat them too. I'm worried about snapping the bottom one. I heated it several times and it still won't crack. I could man handle it but i'm worried about snapping it. You got any ideas?
Are you knowledgeable on how to fix a snap bolt and or stripped threads and do you have tools or equipment to deal with a broken bolt and fix threads, If you don't then seek a local professional for help
@@FIXMYCAR I dont' want to snap it off because i can barely get in that spot to begin with. a snapped bolt there will be a can of worms. i'm going to try letting it soak in penetrating oil for a day. if it comes loose it will change my perception of penetrating oil. i never was a believer that penetrating oil really penetrated into a rusty bolt.
Just make sure the oil is not coming from a higher point, if it's not then clean were adapter joined the engine block and in your case, if the oil pan has oil all around it clean it too. Then give it time to show a leak, if the leak is big then you should see it sooner. Also, if you lift the vehicle secure it with jack stands and wear safety goggles and collect the oil that you clean in a suitable container
Do you think the oil could leak small amounts into radiator? I had a head gasket replace 6 years agofrom the dealership that I bought the truck from. It runs good. It's a 2000 f250. I have a small amount of oil mixed in the radiator fluid
I went down to put that gasket in. The 2000 f250 does not have that gasket.at least mine didn't. The center stud that the filter screws on. That stud you back out. There's probably a gasket but not this one that you are showing. I didn't find this out until I put everything back in the radiator and oil pan. I'll be ready next time the truck needs an oil change.
To replace the oil filter adapter gasket you do not have to drain the motor oil. Once you complete the repair and before you start the engine, change the motor oil. It could be possible that some coolant and or debris went into the motor oil passages. So it would be better to wait till about it is time to change the motor oil to have the repair completed

I have an oil leak from my 5.4 raptor. But i dont know if i comes from the oil pan or the oil filter gasket. How could I find where the leak is?

go to walmart, they have the cheapest brake parts cleaner. spray all the soiled areas, and then idle the engine. crawl underneath and chekc

Were exactly do you see engine oil mixed with radiator fluid
In the radiator reservoir. Very small amount.
It's possible that it is oil residual that mixed in from the previous repair

Will this cause coolant in oil pan if gasket is gone bad? Thanks
Click on 8:49 for possible concern about the gasket
Did you have to drain the oil out also?

It could be possible that some coolant and or debris went into the motor oil passages. So it would be better to wait till about it is time to change the motor oil to have the repair completed
