    Looking at that collecting thread I find myself in what is for me the unusual position of preferring the Marauder boarboyz to the Citadel ones. Pretty much always favour Kev Adams stuff otherwise. Would be happy with any of either mind, think I have maybe three or four Citadel boarboyz and one of the generals. Also got the Goblin Battle Chariots and Goblin King's Chariot both with their boxes, bought back when they came out, would love to field them one day. And a bottom layer only original pump wagon - they were sold in such a way that you could just end up with it like that. Would love to add these, a bit of searching on the web suggests to me that if I ever wanted to go full Nomadic Waagh then third party stuff particularly from the companies Kev Adams has worked for would be the way forward.
    Good to see you do well with this army, it's got a great flavour to it and tends to send me off to look at the Paul Bonner drawings from the ancient Bratt's Boarboyz WD article every time I see it in action.

    Nice vid. I agree about meeting engagement. What I've done in the past is agree to pair up units between the two armies, and make a single roll for both of them. Depending on how you can do it, just pair by cost or let players alternate pairing up. Then you roll for the pair and on a 1 neither unit is available at start. That mitigates the problem with one side being heavily affected, and the other getting away without anything.

    • @d6wounds
      @d6wounds  24 дня назад

      Yea that could work. What I would do is say each player rolls a dice for each of there units, but you roll them all at once so if you have 15 units you roll 15 dice, and then for each roll of a 1 you chose the unit that is delayed.

    Hello,
    Nice report. Being at the beginning of tow, lots of mistakes are done as you mentioned yourself. Against the dwarf for instance if he failed his panic test, he should not flee but retreat in good order. That’s a very very basic rule showing these results are not so représentative yet!

    Got a question, was anyone at the tournament mix and matching AoS minis with official The Old World minis and did it look peculiar due to say, differences in scale between the same or different miniatures ?

    • @d6wounds
      @d6wounds  Месяц назад

      Yes I do see quite a few armies with AoS minis. I also see more and more 3d prints too. The base sizes going up has facilitated the use of bigger models so you will see more and more of that unfortunately.

    • @jojomerou4075
      @jojomerou4075 Месяц назад

      It will depend on the army IMO. For Goblins, GW has not increase their size vs 6th edition consequently it's consistent. On the other size Orks are way bigger in AOS now. For Warrior of Chaos new AOS one are way bigger. Vampire count are way bigger than Tomb King.

    • @RolandoRatas
      @RolandoRatas Месяц назад

      @@jojomerou4075 I'm just asking as I'm building a Vampire Counts army and 98% of it is using Age of Sigmar models and the rest are WHFB single unit Carstein Vamps, Necromancers, Cairn Wraiths etc and I suspect there will be a scale issue with the AoS vs WHFB internally in this army as I build them. I'm wondering what GW plan to do with Vampire Counts for the Old World because around 75% of the minis are already in AoS, will they just take models from the Undead army in WHFB 6th edition and just duplicate them in The Old World so the same but different models are in both WHFB and The Old World ? e.g. Skeleton Wariors / Grave Guard / Zombies etc ?

    • @jojomerou4075
      @jojomerou4075 Месяц назад

      @@RolandoRatas Vampire count will not be supported as a WTOW army by GW. AOS has some nice vampire and the rest of the line is now in other death faction. You should be able to make a 100% TOW Vampire count army using AOS range. If some piecies are lacking, 3D printing is the way to go if size matter. I think only the black coach is not available in AOS. New vampire are 40mm tall, old one are 32mm tall. The only problem you will face with AOS miniature is basing. Some are very big for square bases.

      @@d6wounds One thing to consider with Chosen Chariots (or anything with impact hits and counter charge) - you need to move a minimum of 3" to get those impact hits, which means a third of the time all you've done is moved closer to your opponent and gave them an easier charge. However, of course, when it does work out, it can be quite nasty. Unlikely to be seen a lot with Warriors though, as Chosen Chariots are Heralds of Darkness lists only and it's the weakest of the three options for WoC.

    was this tournament before the FAQ? Since you only get supporting attacks with the riders in the fighting rank, not the boars, and only a attack each model.

    • @guillaumedubos6596
      @guillaumedubos6596 26 дней назад

      The FAQ specifically says the contrary "In the case of a cavalry model, for example, this would be one attack from the rider and one from their mount.". By the way these aren't supporting attacks, they are normal attacks (because you're in the fighting rank) but you can only make one per model. It clarifies that split-profiles are several models sharing the same base.

      Since most monster heroes are going to be WS7 a boss would on average land a single hit, then have a 16% chance to roll a 6 to get the sword to work. Thats before factoring in negative modifiers or forced rerolls from stuff like TK and Chaos dragon lords, and without a ward or regen that boss isnt surviving combat. Not to mention its easy to just avoid it for dragon lords. For otger behemoths its also just more efficient to tie them up or dog pile them with impact hits

    Surprised to see the Dwarf player in the first game go for Irondrakes as detachments, would have thought that was probably the worst way to run them with either a big unit with everything or lots of small ones with the torpedos as the competing options. Might be a total failure of imagination on my part though. Disappointing that they seem so fundamental to Dwarfs now regardless though I've accepted that and finally got some models I can accept to use as them. Still got some painting to do though. What are you planning on that front? I seem to remember you not really wanting to have to use them.

    • @d6wounds
      @d6wounds  Месяц назад +1

      Yes I agree I don’t think you need the detachments as you can just run a unit in front of your combat block so if they get charged the enemy crashes into your block behind it.
      Funny you mention that as I have recently ordered some dwarf heads and I’m investigating potential head swaps on the GW irondrake models… watch this space.

    • @ClydeMillerWynant
      @ClydeMillerWynant Месяц назад

      @@d6wounds Yes, I get the impression the way you describe is the most common way to get Ironbreakers into combat. Possibly the second one to that is what happened in the Battle Report i.e. get the rest of your army destroyed and then take a multi-charge from everything your opponent has left. Even if you managed to line things up to potentially use the detachment the way it's supposed to work it's hard to see that the prospect of copping the stand and shoot is going to encourage anyone to charge your Ironbreakers when they don't really want to do it in the first place. Don't know if the regiment/detachment thing really works for the other armies that have it (I suspect not though I hope it can do), but it feels like a waste of time for Dwarfs.
      I've read that you can leave the shoulder armour (there must be a word for this) off the Irondrake models and they look better for it so perhaps do that as well as your head swaps. I never got any of the GW models, I did buy a couple of drakegun sprues to try fitting the guns to other models but couldn't get anywhere with it (the guns are really quite fat) so have ended up using models from a different manufacturer.

    • @d6wounds
      @d6wounds  Месяц назад +2

      It was a genuine oversight. Many of the rules in OW were errata’d to say ‘when a majority of the models in the unit has this special rule’ such as reserve move, fire and flee, evasive etc. other rules affect the character too like Stubborn etc. it’s not an unreasonable assumption to make.
