Thank you for a comprehensive answer. Some people I know that after supplementing with garlic for a month it lowered their BP in combination with BP meds. They weaned from taking their meds slowly after lowering their BP and relied with raw garlic and food restrictions and walking to reduce swelling of lower legs....
Side-effects on my part is achy muscles and areas close to joints. Any supplement recommendations?????

Still happening now. It was like I took nothing and almost killed me. Tried multiple different meds and they are definitely giving drug dealer cheap cut. FDA is worthless. 😮😢
They are and it’s 2024 now. CVS has the worst rates of drug issues and my generic amlodipine changed as if I wasn’t taking anything. Horrible. 😮

Diet is obviously very important in managing high blood pressure, so by all means make the necessary changes. However, I wouldn't recommend you stopping the Amlodipine without talking to your doctor first. Most likely he/she may adjust the dose or find something that works better for you. All the best.

I have gained too. Calcium channel blockers makes me gain weight where other bp meds have not. Beta blockers can cause weight gain also.

I was taking amlodipine for like 5 yrs now but sometimes I am not consistent I take it when I have pressure. Then in December I started taking Apple Cider consistently I stopped the amlodipine when I took I had severe headache and I stopped. Please why is it so.

I ammtaking 5mg amlodepine everyday at bed time. But when I am hospitalised due to high blood pressure of 225 over 100 the doctor increasesn from 5mg once a day to 10mg 2x a day. Is this bad since the maximum dossage is I0mg only? Thanks
Never take more than 10mg a day. Run to the cardiologist and dump that doctor.
I take AMLODAPINE and whenever I travel to hot climate all my feet will be extremely swollen that I can wear any of my shoes . Do I have stop taken it ?

Not very common, but if there is an identified underlining cause of the elevated BP and that cause is eliminated, it is possible to be taken off the medication with caution.
For example, I’ve seen instances where people have made drastic lifestyle changes leading to significant weight loss and have been able to come off their BP meds.
Obesity is not always the cause of Hypertension......

Why Dr combined amlodipine with quinapril
It is not unusual for doctors to combine blood pressure medications from different classes, if only one is not enough to bring down the BP to the desired level.
Amlodipine caused both my feet and ankles to blow up and my doctor prescribed hydrochlorothiazide for me which didn't make sense to me.....
HCTZ is a diuretic (water pill) so I’m guessing your doctor is giving you that to counter the fluid accumulation causing the swelling. Generally not a big fan of using one medication to counter the side effects of other medications, but since I don’t know the details of your personal situation, I cannot say whether that is good or bad. It may well be the best for you depending on your individual circumstances.

If you need both, yes. There are pills that actually combine the two ingredients in one. The brand name is Caduet.
But statin (crestor) drugs taken along with amlodipine does cause peripheral issues: muscular. Both meds are working well in managing my health, and I'm taking both at pm. How do I avoid muscular issues? Also, is it best to take lisinopril at AM, if so why?

You should tell your Dr, he can change your medicine. Never stop taking a calcium channel blocker cold turkey it’s dangerous, you can go into hypertensive rebound, you have to wean off.

Unfortunately, headache is one of the documented side effects of Amlodipine. For a lot of people it usually goes away after the first couple of days, but if it persists, then please discuss with your doctor for either a dose change or a different medication. All the best.

There is no special precaution with respect to taking amlodipine and bananas. That precaution is for blood pressure meds that increase potassium eg. Lisinopril
