Baked Utah : Whoa there, pardner! Dave Brubeck’s “Unsquare Dance” would be a little sad without it. Now, if you’re talking about moronic on-beat clapping, I’m with you all the way... based on that premise, our two galaxies should easily reach an amicable treaty. Nanu, nanu!
Alan Thorpe, it is so agreed and adopted. In fact, I'm thinking that we could have some syncopated clapping as an accompaniment to each year's Crap Clapping Carbonite Ceremony, to add insult to the injury of our victims. Yes, indeed, ally, I can see a glorious future ahead.
Ľudmila Štefániková is her name. Ludmila grew up in Bratislava, Slovakia, in a family of professional musicians, writers, and actors. She began playing classical piano at the age of five, began singing soprano in the Children's Choir of Bratislava at age nine, and started playing the drums at age thirteen. She's a vibraphonist, pianist, singer, composer and arranger, is a multifaceted artist with deep interest in contemporary improvised music.
She also: has competed competitively in both archery and equestrian sports such as dressing, loves cornflakes in orange juice for dinner, has a pet swan named Igor, is into bdsm, and considers Joseph Stalin to be one of her most influential heroes.
Right. Camera focuses on her in crowd. Then on her staged conversation. Multiple camera angles. And she happens to be a virtuoso. Quite clearly not fake at all.
Unpopular opinion here, but I actually really enjoyed the clapping, whistling and additional crowd feedback. If you're -performing-, you want to KNOW your crowd is interested! Having that kind of sudden emotional stir and excited, enthusiastic audience participation in downtown bohemia is part of what street performance is all about! If I want to listen to crisp, clear studio-produced sound, then I buy the performer's CD! =)
Wow, this is like having your maestro teacher taking over at your school recital...Hope that guy was inspired by her! Fabulous stuff, she got so much depth out of that instrument!
Since I have gotten into playing tongue drums/tongue pans, etc, i have watched many a video. This is the most amazing one that I have seen....most of the available ones are people playing the metal variety, but yeah. damn. Such extraordinary playing. I am arranging to buy one of these, though I will never be able to play like that. But I will be able to use it effectively in my own music.

It's obviously set up, but it's a dream of every musician, get connected so easily, like in the movies...
