I mean the whole reason why captian marvel was so rushed and didnt have good character development over the years was simply because the mcu didnt put such high value to their female heros. Crazy how the patriarchy is this strong even in 2000s but yeah. Another factor that made her movie not well developed was because it literally had a strict time till endgame would be released so that is a lot of pressure hey.

It's better when a superhero is introduced through other movies and we see the character develop (black widow, wanda) before they get their own movie. Or they get their own movie and pop up in other movies to see the character continue developing.
If the mcu didnt rush captain marvel she wouldnt have started as strong as she is now. Yes she wouldnt been capable to do all she can like smashing through ships but because shes a normal human or so...it should've taken some time for her to even learn how to fly properly. That's the type of development we wanna see.
We see it in wanda. In the past movies shes just been using mind control, telekinesis or those wired magenta blasts but in future she will grow and control reality. That's great development.

Funny how she can destroy an entire battle ship in less than 7 sec but has to get help in Endgame to reach a van.
Shw didnt need it if you think of it. She couldve simply flew through everything.
Plus anyways the writers clearly didnt plot it out nicely. She didnt have that white suit to time travel and she didnt know what time line to return the infinite stones so where was she going? Also even if she went inside what made the writers think thanos would've destroyed it and she would've been stranded. The reigniting of a star would be a good reason for why shes been gone for so many years. In the comics she did it and basically died but came back 30 years later. And shes done it before so I really do hope they use that as a reason for why she was gone for so long

That look they give each other when she stops in front of the ship is priceless.
One thing I do enjoy about this scene upon another viewing, is when she essentially flexes her power to intimidate Ronan, she specifically makes her power burst just as wide as the ship he's in, not even exerting herself too much. It's essentially her flexing that she doesn't even need her full power to destroy his ship. One burst is enough to skewer it across its whole width.
Yup. Also the burst creates a line with earth behind her making it clear that Earth is off bound and not to be messed with.
And why didn't she kill the genocidal maniac then and there?
And she doesn't even flex her power that much i Endgame when she trashes Thanos' main ship.

@@mox9076 yeah, if it weren't for his plot armor that required him to survive to not disturb the existing timeline, she might have taken out all the ships. Or, assuming that his ship was recognizable as the flagship, she might have gone for that one.
I really like the glow and her flying here and wished there was more of her in this form in the movie.

It wasn't the main objective of the movie.
She was super-powerful throughout almost the entire movie -- even her escape from the Skrull ship felt more like fun rather than a real threat. With her full power available which basically turned her into MCU's Supergirl, the remaining fights were all about ass-kicking all the bad guys, and they made these scenes both distinct enough and short enough so they don't get boring -- after all, none of them brought Kryptonite along, just various instances of plot armor.
I think giving her more of these one-sided fights would do more harm than good.
I love how Ronan just casually nopes out of there.
One thing i liked about this movie,
is the fact that we can actually have a live action Goku using the same effects.
I don't know if someone mentioned it here, but I like how Ronan looks admiring on Captain Marvel power and attitude shall I say.

Me too. It wasn't perfect, but most critics and viewers really liked the movie. There just happen to be a minority of very vocal and opinionated individuals who loudly complain about it every time they can. While they are entitled to their opinions, they do not reflect the majority, who don't come out to praise it constantly. This is the way with many films.
She should have looked like this in Endgame. She looks so badass with her face covered highlighting her glowing eyes and hair.

I’ll never forget seeing Carol punch her fist in an IMAX theater on opening night and just getting madd chills at the awe of the sound and fx of that scene. You could just tell everyone in the theater felt that and it was godly.

@@kingofcrazy689 if you love the CGI I would recommend Thor ragnorak, infinity war, endgame, Wandavision, guardians of the galaxy vol 2 even though 1 is better but vol 2 has more CGI, maybe Loki even though Loki and Wandavision are shows they are still apart of the MCU and good and the CGI Is good, Doctor strange for sure because of the CGI, and yeah you would probably like those but I recommend watching the whole MCU and Shang chi just came out and the CGI is amazing also eternals will come out pretty sure they have cool powers like that too

Let's see... Not in the MCU but:
The Umbrella Academy has simple but beautiful effects, especially Vanya when she uses her powers.
The timeline is messed up and a lot of them aren't very faithful to the source material, but the CGI effects in the X-Men remakes are stunning. I recommend X-Men Apocalypse very especially, because it's extremely entertaining, tries very hard to do the source material justice, and is visually attractive, which is what this is about.
Jupiter Ascending, despite being received poorly, was praised for it's visual effects. Don't get why people say it's bad, the acting wasn't fantastic but decent enough and the story was complex and compelling. You can judge those parts for yourself, but it's an absolute must watch if you came to look at something pretty.
I probably don't even need to tell you this, but the Lord Of The Rings trilogy is absolutely breathtaking. It's not even just the CGI. The landscapes, the architecture, the outfits, everything about the movies is gorgeous.
She is portrayed with tremendous power in this scene…. Such speed, durability, stamina, endurance … is displayed in this scene….. what power
Exactly. And even moreso when she shows in in Endgame. All the Avengers are duking it out with Thanos' forces. Then she just shows up and trashes Thanos' ship with little to no effort. NICE.

I loved every bit of this movie. The 90’s period piece aspects. The battles. The music. Just a great MCU flick.

I also like how Thor does the exact same thing when he arrives in Wakanda and that there are other characters just like Captain Marvel (Fury, Okoye, Yelena) but people only feel the need to hate on this particular because the actress isn't friends with the main cast and said something we didn't like.

@@arronjoseph5962 The only reason she almost overpowered Thanos was because she was absorbing insane amounts of energy from the Infinity Gauntlet. She was strong when she destroyed Ronan's fleet, but not THAT strong. Thor could have destroyed it faster, to be honest.
I'd also like to add that, like Wanda, Carol is infused with energy from an Infinity Stone. The power Thor gets from being a literal God kinda pales in comparison to the power you'd get from a cosmic stone that shapes reality and space.

I really wished when she sees Ronan eye to eye, she made those hand gestures like the landlady to Gangster boss in Kungfu Hustle.
Carol is a beast. I love how this film ties into Guardians of the Galaxy, too. Good to see Ronan again because he was marvelous in Guardians.
I'm a Marvel fanatic and these are my favorite special effects of any Marvel movie that exists including all the new ones.
Captain Marvel is the best Marvel movie. Can't wait to see her in 'The Marvels'.

It's cool how they even thought about the physics of her little fist strike. Her left hand is open but curved so it repels most of the special effect to her right side and with very little vertical.

It really makes no sense having a character this powerful. Every upcoming battle will have zero tension because this character could just show up and sit everyone down instantly. It annoyed me to no end how easily she destroyed Sanctuary II in Endgame.
Thor technically now wields the Odinforce. If he actually learned to master it in the 5 years between IW and Endgame, rather than becoming lazy, he probably would’ve been able to do it himself.

@@fuffen376 I mean, that's how super heros work. Some are born with the power, others earned it through passing through their lowest points. And really captain marvel did go through a lot of that. Effectively bullied and manipulated to fight on the wrong side of a war as she struggles to find her true past.
Reflecting on it, the movie was a bit confusing with a lot of different sub plots (like I don't remember why Ronin there), but her story was fine.
Really I think the only problem is the fact the she embodies "girl boss" archetype and the movie reinforces that, take a look at the struggles she goes through. Being bullied for playing sports as a girl? Having to prove that you can be successful in the army as a woman? Dealing with mysoginistic biker dudes and cat calling? Being emotionally manipulated in an abusive relationship? Being told you are too emotional all the time? Forced to act like a man in order to be successful?
These are all struggles that the character goes through, but men simply do not experience or relate to these kinds of struggles.
And claiming that "she doesn't go through struggle" is to list everything I've written as "not a real struggle".
Frankly the only reason I disliked it is because male antagonists were portrayed as extremely unlikable mysoginistic ass hats.

There are a few of scenes I find boring, and it would have been nice if her origin story had something other than "everyone I know is sexist and I'm a feminist", but other than those two things it's great.
I especially liked the parts where she escaped the Skrull ship and destroyed Ronan's armada.
@@kingofcrazy689 'real' feminism is supposed to be about showing how we should look past our differences and predjudices and give each other equal respect and oppurtunity! But part of that means being understanding and compassionate towards one another! This movie (and Brie Larson) makes a mockery of feminism by using it as an outlet for hatred against a very male audience. Its not only pathetic but utterly boring. The acting and CGI was great tho. Brie is a great actress, politics aside. 😊 As you can tell tho, I didnt enjoy the writing.
@@ryuk5673 I agree. They shouldn't have put feminism as the main theme of the movie. They should have focused more on making Vers out to be the girl scout type who fights for justice and wants to end wars. This was already a small theme in the movie, but is only mentioned twice, literally at the start and the end.
This is why I think Wonder Woman was so much better than Captain Marvel, even though I liked both. The Wonder Woman movie doesn't need to preach about gender equality, Diana's entire character represents everything the feminist/gender equality movement. You can see it just from watching her interact with other characters.

Now all we need to do is introduce powerful female characters who don't randomly turn evil for literally no reason. I see this way too often. I'm normally fine with characters turning evil, but in this case it's ALWAYS a female character. Here's the usual formula:
There's a team of superheroes and one of them is weak but good natured character (almost always a woman) who occasionally saves the day.
Said weak noble woman then becomes insanely powerful for whatever reason and is from then on considered the alpha member or something.
Some time later, uber powerful alpha girl becomes mentally unstable. The reasons why are when things really get stupid. It's usually because she can't handle the power or just because, because apparently being really powerful makes you want to do evil stuff. Not sexist at all!
Blah blah blah, evil powerful girl causes havoc and almost destroys the world, then either snaps out of it and commits suicide to prevent more destruction or is killed by a member of the team who is the closest to her, to add emotional drama I guess?
My greatest gripes it that Carol is way more stronger than the Eternals. It should be the other way around.
Something very very cool about seeing her fly through incredibly large battleships and destroying them utterly.

This movie was so unremarkable
at first, she told the Avangers "I'm strong and you fought Thanos without me". at the end, Thanos put one of the infinity stone and punched her away.... AND SHE WAS GONE OUT OF THE SCREEN!
