I can’t believe the studio thought about cutting this scene because they thought it was “boring.” It’s a pivotal moment in Diana’s development. She realizes that she can, and should, rely on others. She becomes less hard headed and more willing to cooperate. She becomes a better person.
Exactly. She becomes a better person because she learns more about humanity.
In fairness, the studio wanted to cut it because it pulled from the narrative momentum, not because it was boring. It doesn't contribute to the story, but that was the point. It was why Patty Jenkins wanted it in there so badly. This is the scene where she becomes Wonder Woman. I'd also argue that it isn't about relying on others. This is about choosing to be a hero, no matter what. Always doing the right thing and sticking to your conviction. The themes of empowering your friends comes through later in the film.
Thank God they didn't do it are they stupid or what it's an epic scene not boring at all
Studio is the reason why early dc movies turned out bad
I love gal as wonder woman
When Steve said “No man can cross it” I fully expected Diana to say “I’m not a man” or something, and that would have ruined this scene. The point of the scene was not to show how Diana is great because she’s a woman, but just how powerful she is as a person. That’s what makes this scene work so well.
And it also shows the importance of both genders working together, at least that's one of the lessons I gathered from this scene.
If this was Marvel, she would probably had said so
I mean, I thought in my head "yeah well she's Wonder Woman so she's gonna give them hell anyways"
So true !
The line had already been used in the "Lord of the Rings". Would have sounded derivative.
I loved how, even though it would've been so easy to put in a "But I am no man" line in this scene, they chose not to. "It's what I'm going to do". Her climbing up to cross No Man's Land is not about her being a woman or doing something no one else could do, it's about her choosing to be a hero, to stick to her morals and do what she thinks is right.
It's how she said it that made it stand out. Not in the tone that implies she will do it because she can, but because she has to.
Yep, exactly.
Diana's voice when she says, "Women, children. How can you say that?"
She is literally so empathetic. The entire scene is just BEAUTY.
I think my favorite part of the movie is really the poor French woman pulling her aside to tell her about what's happening.
That’s what I say to people who joke on 9/11 like what’s the matter with everyone
To bad women are not like her.
the irony of that since she was a ex israeli defence forces

This is what a hero is meant to represent. Hope when there is none, a way when there is none. They make the path for others.
Not all HER0'sS where a Cape

I love how as a superhero her femininity, emotions and compassion make her stronger and she embraces that instead of taking on a more “masculine” persona
Wonder Women is worthy hero we should all follow.
I like that too.
Yeah I have noticed that too in cinema especially back in the day. Where films like Terminator 2 and Alien had their female characters have overtly masculine personas to be strong as seen with Sarah Connor and Ellen Ellen Ripley. Not that those are bad films or characters at all but they nonetheless fell into that trope. Whereas others like Princess Leia and Wonder Woman were able to avoid it
What I love about this movie is that it clearly shows that WW is total badass and that she always do what she believes is right. But also the military men aren't just standing around being completely useless. From beginning to end, it shows everyone doing the best they can in whatever capacity they can
I totally agree! And instead of letting WW be the plot bulldozer and do everything on her own (or even just with one worried sidekick), the story couldn’t have ended the way it did without EVERYONE who was involved. Yes, you need WW with her awesome powers, but you also need Chris Pine the normal guy who was willing to sacrifice himself at the end, and the guy with horrible shellshock who fought anyway, and all the other squishy, breakable little humans behind her who made the choice to do what was right rather than what was easy. I’ve never seen a superhero movie do that.
Same in Man of Steel. Supes and the military were literally working together to defeat Zod, I like how the air force are doing something to intercept the world engine even though they are mismatched.
Quite a contrast to Marvel where every man has to be a bumbling idiot in awe of their female overlords. It's why I love this movie, Captain Marvel wishes she was half the hero WW is.
It’s very very impressive that Diana is not only a hell of a fighter, but she’s multilingual, she’s humble, and polite. That shows true beauty

It is part of her demigod powers, she can speak any language.

The end credits could have come up at the end of this scene and I wouldn't have been upset. Once she took off that hair band thing I was ecstatic. GO WW.
@@rotyler2177 The thing that really drives this scene home is that they could've gone full schlock by bringing her Wonder Woman theme into it, but instead the filmmakers go for restraint and go for a more somber bit of music. Really gives the moment weight.
To bad she sucked in Justice League and she was the best part of the previous films.
Because she's in the Justice League.
Really captured Diana's humanity and her true superpower which is unselfish love.
Years later and probably the best scene in all of the DC movies in the last decade or more.
@Follow God:God loves you repent it will be worth it God bless you all💕💜♥️❤❤❤❤
THIS is the Wonder Woman the franchise should focus on.
WW isn't driven by a dark and tragic past, nor is she some powerful outsider saving their adopted planet.
She is, above all, on a mission of Peace, Justice, and Freedom, and is willing to fight for it.
It was her compassion for those suffering the horrors of War that moved her to action!
Wonder Woman was a naive princess who got school in the real world. lol.

WW comics is based on truth sorry but you don't know about anything
When everyone was yelling “She’s done it!” That felt so powerful
That's what I like about it. She just does it, without having to make some snarky misandrist comment to point how wonderfully powerful she is, and she doesn't find it easy either - even with her super-powers, she struggles and needs the help of her friends. Makes her so relatable, and from a personal point of view, it's incredibly satisfying to see her cross no-man's land, when the man who ought to have been my grandfather died in the trenches, and the man who subsequently married my grandmother suffered permanent lung damage from the gas the Germans used.

really? I laugh every time because it's super easy to cross it. They spent all this time telling you how impossible it was, but there's so few enemies they just walk right over. It's horrible.
@Luc Germain - sorry but that's not good enough. It still only took one person drawing fire for 60 seconds for the rest to just walk over and win. AND RIGHT BEFORE THAT, Steve says they've been starving for a year over this. He says specifically "IT'S IMPOSSIBLE" No, that's not in any way impossible. They didn't even need somebody like Diana to draw the fire. It's a terrible scene, and saying "there's one machine gun" doesn't make it all ok. It's awful.
@Luc Germain - You're missing the point. It wasn't an impossible place to cross, and it wasn't even close to being one. You said it yourself, they had one machine gun, so you've already admitted that it wasn't.
@@CLrooks 1st those guns were all targeting as soon as she step foot onto no mans land. Because the 1st bullet which would have killed any human that stepped onto that field didn't kill her they fired again and again. Since she deflected all of those they all focused on her and not anyone else. Thats why steve and his men could cross because the Germans were focused on Diana who they had never seen anyone do that before.
The scene makes perfect sense
@sue sue - you're trying to talk your way around it, but it's simply not an impossible area to cross, unless you're saying nobody in the war ever battle past 1 machine gun. You don't really believe that do you? In fact you just pointed out why it's stupid by admitting that all the Germans were focused on Diana. All of them? WOW, what a bunch of idiots. They could have killed everybody but instead they all fired on the one person who wasn't dying. Good job guys.
the posture held by gal gadot is amazing when all the soldiers fire on a single point, shows what the portrayed character is capable of

To think that the idiotic exec wanted to cut this scene out from the final edit???? Thank you Patty Jenkins for saying no. You are the real wonder woman!
Damn if Patty let them cut this scene out WW would've flopped and people would've said "See a female superhero can't carry a movie." Yes Patty thank you for sticking to your guns she knew how much WW meant to the die hard fans Diana has been an icon for decades. Linda Carter helped pave the way for this and now we have Gal Gadot who really brought the Amazon princess to the big screen with a bang.
For real? WTF ... this scene gives me the shivers EVERY single time I watch it and nearly moves me to tears.
Say it ain't so.

WB executives probably didn't want a female superhero film to succeed and that was why they tried to cut it
This scene is one of the greatest in movie history. This wasn’t about being a man or a woman, just being a hero to humanity. WW wasn’t led by a tragic past nor is she from another planet coming to save Earth, she’s above all that. She’s about fighting for peace, justice, and freedom. It doesn’t matter who you are, doing the right thing is never wrong. That’s what makes this scene absolutely perfect! ❤️⚡️

This scene is the reason why Wonder Woman is so appealing. She doesn't play by the rules, she doesn't''t listen when people put her down, she simply just does what she thinks is right, no matter what may happen to her. At this point in the story, she doesn't know she's actually a god, but she doesn't let it stop her. Powerful stuff.

@SavageSlashingHustler gay means happy so what your saying doesn't make any sense
This was honestly one of the worst scenes in the history of film. How can you possible see this as empowering and appealing? There is so much wrong with this scene
This scene is so iconic because she literally is telling the people to stop for a moment and realize the caos around. Yes we know she is going to survive but the people didnt know yet she wanted to take the burden because it was to help the people. That is a hero.
When no one listened, she did. When no one would, she did. That’s a hero!😢
Fun Fact: There’s actually a legend from WW1 during the Battle of Mons, Belgium in 1914. Many who were there claimed that an angel appeared on the battlefield, who helped protect the allies from certain death and ultimately led them to victory against the Germans.
I heard something about that too. Many similiar stories from WWII like the mystery escort fighter plane that helped a wounded US pilot land on a carrier but no one else saw the plane except him. Strange.

My favourite part is when the soldier shouts SHE’S RUNNING! cuz you can literally see the hope glimmer in their eyes , after being stuck there for ages❤️❤️
Indeed, every frame here is inspiring.
One thing I really like about this scene is that Dianna doesn't actually cross the trenches, in fact she's pretty close to being overwhelmed by the Germans. What really tips the scales in her favor is Trevor and the others joining in. While it does send a good message about both genders working together, it sends an even stronger message about heroes. Being a hero isn't just doing the impossible, it's also about setting an example for others and letting them risen up to be better people. Trevor deemed it impossible to cross the trenches but Dianna still tried to break through anyway and she nearly died because of it. But seeing her still risk her life to save innocents, this inspired Trevor and the others to join her and together they made the impossible possible.
Agree with everything you said. But I just can't help but think that Diana's thinking was irrational.
She risked the mission to save these people. It was lucky that their mission was successful.
Aaditya Muralidharan Thats true, but I think it makes sense with her character. She is someone who thinks she can save everyone and I think she would gladly stop to help anyone she runs into.
Aaditya Muralidharan it's a superhero movie, not a war movie. it shouldn't get bogged down by that kind of stuff. superheroes are all about being optimistic and trying to save everyone, even the people some would say don't matter.

That’s why I love the scene because Diana saves them all
@@vlad5042 that's not all that superhero movies are about. I don't mean any disrespect, but that's a very simple minded view. Think of movies like Deadpool, suicide squad, or watchmen. Not all superheroes are bright, colorful, and save the day

Goodness this scene gave me goosebumps. It's so well written and made me love Wonder Woman even more. She is such a badass here
I love that his point is as valid as hers, and even shows why we need extraordinary heroes sometimes. The men *did* try to cross, to act in that obvious way, but could not. So they tried to help in other ways, because they wanted to something but could only do what they could do (meaning, we can't give what we don't have). But this? This *was* something Diana COULD do, this was a thing that was within her ability to handle and make a difference in. So she did.
.
And having her priorities straight didn't show in only the big ways, but the small -- she knew the availibility of the weapons (machine guns) was the biggest problem. Not the enemy soldiers who may or may not have wanted to even be there. So she takes out one of the real problematic elements of No Man's Land, because it was there and she could, could make this other bit of difference, along the way to completing her bigger mission.
.
This scene is a fine example of letting your heart lead but taking your brain with you. She didn't 'rebel' without a 'cause' or Lone Hero it, recklessly charging ahead and high on emotions. She made a choice, maybe quickly, but you could see that she wasn't acting impulsively or blindly without thought, by the way she paused to turn to Steve before going (which is another wonderful trope-aversion; NOT failing to communicate to her partner/team that she's going out into a danger-zone alone).
.
I have so much
This scene will always be one of the most powerful scenes in a DC movie. It was in this scene that you can truly see how heroic she is-she didn't care how dangerous it was to cross No Man's Land as long as she could help those around her. That is what truly makes someone a hero: risking it all to save people.

Baba Yaga : Yes, this is a movie. The comment is about her CHARACTER, not the actress. Reality much?
Rocio P. Lopez hi
See how in this scene Diana defies Steve and walk into the no man's land to save the people and after she takes a few bullets, all the soldiers behind her saw that it was indeed possible to cross it and they broke from their formation to attack after her. And this was how I defeated 2020 on January 1st 2021. And now defending 2021
She doesn't even use her sword on them, she flips it over and hits them with the handle
On the other hand, I love how it shows her destroying a machine gun then knocking out the two germans, then cuts to steve smashing a dude on the head and shooting him point blank with a shotgun haha
I love seeing the hope that is brought to the men when they see the opening Diana is giving to them with her actions. It breathes life into me.
How the hell did they go from this epic scene to WW 1984.........seriously.
Coming back here after WW84. This one scene outclasses the entire movie.
True
can’t agree more
I enjoyed WW84 but this movie was far better
Same. The first one had so many memorable scenes. Damn shame that WW 84 wasn’t as good
@@Gary320
I love 2017’s one because of the scenes. They keep me going through COVID-19 and my Spanish Flu grief combined is horrible
After watching this, I realized how DC heroes represent the "in darkness there is light" quote. It shows how Batman could have turned into a mass murder, but chose to become a vigilante to prevent anyone ending up like him. It shows how Aquaman could have destroyed Atlantis for banishing his mother but instead chose to lead. It shows how superman could have eradicated humanity because "if I suffered, shouldn't they" but instead chose to protect it. My point is that even if DC doesn't have marvel's quality in CGI or popularity, they make heroes who choose to instead help others.
They might be popular than DC,but damm Snyder is making the Universe epic.
@@doodleboi7034 A ton of people hate him for being different yet interesting. If you ask a stranger whether they liked his work or not, the outcome is a 50/50 between yes and no.
Uhhh all of marvels heroes help others too. Don’t get me wrong I love DC, but I don’t think either of them are better than the other. Although the DCEU would have been much better if WB hadn’t forced the team up so soon it’s still pretty flawed. For me, DC movies are either absolutely amazing, or just bad (Man of Steel, WW, ZSJL are really good, BVS, and Josstice League bad). Marvel movies are usually just good. Not amazing but none of them suck (talking about MCU only). DC heroes aren’t any better than marvels.
agreed, D.C. villains cause property damage and civilian injuries, the Avengers do that all by themselves, i think the count was close to 2 trillion in insurance claims , even Stark couldnt cover that.
Oh lord, here we go
They will explode the DCU now, but I confidently say that their depiction of Wonder Woman was spot on.
Iconic scene. Wonderwoman saves the DC because of this.
I've watched a _lot_ more Marvel than I have DC, but this is my favorite moment in any superhero film, period. It's hard to explain why but, paraphrasing, I think Doug Walker put it best: "When I see a Batman film, I see Batman. When I see a Spider-man film, I see Spider-man. When I saw Wonder Woman, when she finally climbed up onto the field, I saw a hero."
A hero that r*pes

The expressions on her face just before she prepare for the battle and when she's turning to Steve and says: No, but it's what I'm going to do... 👍👍🤩🤩🤩 priceless ! I'm curious in how many takes Patty Jenkins managed to nail those sequences...😉🙂
The epicness in this scene is on extreme levels. everything, the sound, music, speed, the shot etc. are just immaculate. like when she turns away from Steve and starts putting on her gear and climbs on to that ladder thing!!!??? beautiful.
As a dude, I can honestly say I feel so happy for girls and women everywhere, this scene is so empowering, I can feel that Wonder Woman is truly a hero.
Send my channel subscribe Karen thank you
And it didn’t need to put down men or try to compete with them. It was just a woman who chooses to be a hero.
kor bye
kor there are movie where women are put down by men... how come you don’t mention those? Oh wait it doesn’t fit your agenda
@@parisedits5453 bold of you to assume i have an agenda. i dont know what's up with you. I was just pointing out what was so amazing with this movie compared to others that bombed trying to push an agenda. If you want to keep pretending that no such thing exists then that's on you. I'm just pointing out that wonderwoman did well just by focusing on its story and uplifting narrative. now, i have yet to see a movie where the men overtly push messages like "men good, women bad" especially in a superhero movie (which is the context of my comment, if you can't stay on it thats on you) but if i did i wouldn't like it anyway.
What I like about this scene is that while Steve isn't wrong about "You can't save everyone", Diana doesn't let that stop her from trying to save as many people as she can.
Also 0:44 again Germans upset..why?
Arrogant and bold characters like (Captain Marvel, Nebula, Okoye) are >>>>>>> naive and generic characters like (Wonder Woman, Wanda, Alita)
The scene is more important because in most parts of the world, Women didn't have equal rights. Many countries still did not allow women to vote. The soldiers in this scene stood for her for her leadership qualities. Its didn't matter if she was a man or a woman. When it came to save lives, she stood her ground and marched ahead and automatically became the hope and the leaders for everyone. This is what nakes this movie so powerful
this whole scene was made to show why Gal Gadot is the best Wonder Woman they've could ever come up with
Steve: “We can’t save everyone in this war; it’s not what we came here to do.”
Diana: “No❤️”

Exactly.Very well said. That's why Wonder Woman, like Superman,is often imitated(with characters like Queen Maeve from The Seven from The Boys comic and show,Power Princess from Marvel's Squadron Supreme,Glory and War Woman from Image Comics and so on)but never duplicated!
She's truly one of a kind as a character!

One of the best moments in history with a score to match. The compassion here before she placed her crown on and in doing so in that moment the bravery. This was epic.
This is the best female led superhero film hands down, even the second film was no where near the level this film's in.
This part was definitely epic. "It's what I'm going to do." That line got me. The music and her slow walk at the beginning oh my God. When they jumped in to help her risking their mortal lives always makes me cry. She had true friends backing her up the whole movie. Incredible scene and great movie.
This hit me, right in the feels; because she wasn't _assuming_ she would survive!🫨

I love how both of these characters are living embodiments of their principles. Steve was willing to sacrifice one life for the greater good, even if it meant sacrificing his own. Diana tries to to save everyone, even if she fails to save Steve or stop humanity from destroying itself, that doesn't mean she won't try, two sides of the same coin.

Yes, Wonder Woman had a love interest. And? I’d rather “love story” than boring amnesia storyline leading to super saiyan Mary Sue.
@Legend Himself and? Are you really that alone and bitter that a female having a relationship who works good in a movie bothers you?

I think you can actually see a few bullets hit the armored part of her legs
Standing still in the middle of no man's land she would have been shot down by snipers before she even reach the trenches normally
But the bullets would have grazed her legs or at least hit some people behind her, right?
