Awesome solo. I feel bad, after that first stick drop, you could tell he was offset a little bit. Amazing job Brandon, you're an inspiration to us all!
What I like best about this performance is that this is NOT the Brandon we all "think" we know from RUclips all these years. That Brandon, a boy, could have just hit stop and re-recorded. This Brandon is a man. He pushed through, despite what I could tell by his face for a BRIEF moment was agonizing to a perfectionist such as himself. We need more of this on RUclips, and in society in general. The "push through". Great work, and as has been said earlier, that left hand work on the sequence at 3:20. Wow! Amazing playing and composition sir!
MrMagicpantz200 I am too. He has scoliosis. I was wondering if he has had corrective surgery or a back brace or is he like my sister, living with it one day at a time. It's a very painful spine curvature that will make the chest area squeeze the lungs so breathing is difficult. With my sister now, walking is difficult. She can't walk 100 yards without a wheelchair. Her back has started to slump and her doctor is predicting within 10 years, she will have a 90 degree bend. 😔
I followed Brandon for years and finally met him the night of the age out process. The DCI HALL OF FAME gets the honor of handing the DCI pin to each member once they enter the field of age outs...This may sound strange but I was truly excited to meet Brandon. I got to give him his pin and mumbled some things he probably does not remember...This is an incredible drummer who dedicated years to being a CHAMPION. This time the honor was all mine.
That kind of composure during a semi-off performance at his age is CRAZY! Can't wait to see his solo for next year now that he's got some experience under his belt!
George Bush You're way late, so I forget exactly where I saw it, but there's a video somewhere of Brandon playing marimba with four mallets. Maybe Instagram? Not sure, but he's a good mallet player. Obviously not as good as he is at snare, but still better than most kids his age.
Sorry bud but you don't want to waste yours and my time writing an essay. If Vanguard competed they would utterly destroy these kids, but it's rigged so BD would win.
+BornVillain Oh yeah, I also forgot to mention that the I&E competition is System Blue (Blue Devils.) If you want a fair competiton, make DCI host it not the Blue Devils. System Blue even sponsors DCI, which is probably why they win.
reason he got first place even though he dropped sticks is because his sound was so even, and most snares players literally can't do this kind of stuff
Super Saiyan God they are Promark DC50's, not TXDC50W's they are smaller and lighter and better suited for beginners, I don't know about the nylon tips
Great playing (minus the stick drops), but it all kind of sounds the same. Brandon is obviously talented, but I wish he had more competition. Sadly the majority of corps do not allow their members to participate. I think I&E makes for stronger performers.
magoo salazar It was probably the back brace he has. He has scoliosis ( or some sort of back problem) so his back needs to be braced whenever he isnt marching
I'm sure they have the details on their site by now. I know with crown, it was pay audition fee, download audition packet(available only after audition fee is paid), practice your butt off, and show up to audition camp.
Matthew Anthony Oh I know about the camps and whatnot but i'm wondering if anyone knows the date of the camps. On their site it just says Blue Devil battery auditions. I'm not sure if it's for both lines or for just BD.
+Noah H I commented with the dates a while ago. You'll have to pay the audition fee, download the audition packet(available after fees are paid), practice, practice, practice, and then show up to the audition camps. All of the info is available on the bd website.
I almost had it down pat until he started playing
This guys diddles are about as open as it gets without opening a rhythmic wormhole which distorts space and time.
Awesome solo. I feel bad, after that first stick drop, you could tell he was offset a little bit. Amazing job Brandon, you're an inspiration to us all!
Two stick drops and still gets 1st... This is what chops look like ladies and gentlemen
Frida Von Rossum um he only had one pretty sure
Luke Bennett 1:16 and 1:46
I look up to Brandon so much. Im 15 and Ive only been a snare drummer for two years. Like his, it is my dream to become a Blue Devil.
Josh Tolentino go for it man!
Where are you at now?
Josh Tolentino id prefer SCV because Rennick
ME TOO
nice recovery. my band director always told us to act like it never happend.
Wow, that's what my parents tell me.
@@corntruck3711
One of my very first memories was my uncle Mike giving me the exact same advice. I'll never forget it. Must be an old expression.
I remember Ms. Karen my piano teacher teaching me the same thing before a recital
Those weren't drum sticks, they were magic wands.

3:15 to 3:25 is some of the sickest shit I've ever seen. So clean. So solid. Way gnarly.
I think we all remember when he was just "9 year old Brandon". He has improved a lot, and i'm excited to see how good he gets.
12*

loving the frame rate.
Kevin Fitzsimmons Thanks for watching!
only brandon olander gets 60fps.
+iiTzWesty 100% correct
iiTzWesty imagine Brandon Cameron cavender and Bryce on one snare line
That kind of composure during a semi-off performance at his age is CRAZY! Can't wait to see his solo for next year now that he's got some experience under his belt!
Say what you want about the stick drops, but considering he dropped and *still won* says a lot about his skill.
I know everyone remembers when this monster of a percussionist was 12
It'd be funny if he got 2nd chair in high school because of mallets XD
Spike Rover He actually kills it on mallets too
Hollowtekk ThatIsWhatILikeToHear
George Bush You're way late, so I forget exactly where I saw it, but there's a video somewhere of Brandon playing marimba with four mallets. Maybe Instagram? Not sure, but he's a good mallet player. Obviously not as good as he is at snare, but still better than most kids his age.
XD that happened to me this year XD! But next year I'm first.
I can play like grade 5/6 on snare and like 2 on mallets
Only marching band people know that this kid is preforming an amazing feat. Respect.
he's a meme lord
ThatWasSexyBrandon
Sean Bowers God I love it when viewers play along
+ThatWasSexyPit ThatIsANewProfilePictureRight?

When he closed his eyes and took that deep breath around 2:38.....you knew he was done messing around with the competition
Sawyer Lubold it’s almost scary
I love how he plays his solo that was taken out of last year'a program early season at 3:09. Awesome performance!!!
YES FINALLY BRANDON IS HERE TO CONTINUE THE BD SNARE I AND E LEGACY. 6 straight and many more to come.
Great vid. You've got a definitive style of filming that fits this kind of content perfectly. Insane drummer too.
Only 17 years old ladies and gentlemen!
Absolutely SLAUGHTERED that last section! Nice!
YESSSSS DUDE! You're an inspiration to all us kids who aspire to march corps someday :)
ThatRecoveryDoe
+MarioPlaysMC more like ThosePlannedStickDropsAndPickups
+Marc Mathura who the hell plans to drop a stick
+ThatWasSexyPit someone who wants to look cool and show that they can still play while picking up a stick off the ground
Such hands... And he's like.. 17 or 18 by now? Good lord baby jezus.
Tijl Van der Meulen I believe he is 17 now
He has scoliosis that’s why he’s short
He is coming.back to blue devils this year but it is he's age out season
@@Greenday4-121 he's marching 2019
his eye contact is so intense i feel like he’s staring into my soul
Chop dexterity is immaculate. I'm in love.
2:38 to 2:43 is the coolest damn thing I've ever heard
Excellent performer, stick drops can never stop you
God, the quality is so good! Thanks for uploading!
3:20 what strokes are he using, holy. crap.
Sheldon Edwards reallyyy fast paradiddles
Andrew Hudson no para diddles
It’s upsetting how good he is.
Yeah he plays beautifully. Really enjoyed this.
When was the last time a blue devils player didn't win the i and e snare solo?
competition is rigged, everything is rigged, bias everywhere.
+George Bush just like how u rigged 9/11
Sorry bud but you don't want to waste yours and my time writing an essay. If Vanguard competed they would utterly destroy these kids, but it's rigged so BD would win.
+George Bush That's why a Blue Devil beat two separate SCV guys in 2011 and 2012, right?
+BornVillain Oh yeah, I also forgot to mention that the I&E competition is System Blue (Blue Devils.) If you want a fair competiton, make DCI host it not the Blue Devils. System Blue even sponsors DCI, which is probably why they win.
reason he got first place even though he dropped sticks is because his sound was so even, and most snares players literally can't do this kind of stuff
3:16 how????
That was so clean *applause*
master blaster. great work brandon.
My lord that was beautiful.
love the recovery.
unreal skillz..you're an inspiration:)
Nice!...but keelan will forever have the best I&E...#purehonesty
***** We'll see in 3 years when he's the age Keelan was during his I&E solos.
Let's be honest, Drew Guy's I&E 2010 is the all time best.
lol yea
+Crazy Alien What if they wrote a solo together Brandon's age out year?
+BornVillain why not 2016
Imagine how good he's gonna be when he's around the age of the other drummers....
was that a spida?
that kid has chops for days
hot damn, this kid has quite a life ahead of him.
Im his age and nowhere near his level. Lol thats dedicated hard work right there.
Wat sticks do you use?
Super Sexy Saiyan sticks
+ThatWasSexyPit that's the actual name
Super Saiyan God they are Promark DC50's, not TXDC50W's they are smaller and lighter and better suited for beginners, I don't know about the nylon tips
+PraessiTV If what I saw was correct, it's ScoJo's Signature Practice sticks. I think.
@@ekodevil7593 *DC-17 Scojo Sticks. Also, the other ones weren't nylon, they're rubber tips for practicing on any surface without damaging your stick.
There are no words that I can use to explain this because the ones I have at my disposal are just not strong enough. In other words....WOW.
brandon is the best
anyone know what kind of sticks those were with the grey tips
i just found out today what those sticks are
they are warmup sticks but they use them on the snare
where can we get sheet music for the solos
What marching sticks do y'all use ?
60fps is awesome.
Bayat 960 fps next summer
+ThatWasSexyPit Yay
Which sticks was he using in the video?
Is there sheet music for this?
*Puts in 0.25 speed*
Still too fast
What drumsticks was brandon using?
amazing lovee thiss mann , my inspiration
In his whole 5 years of dci he’s only performed 2 I&E’s and won both times
Im so happy you are selling the sheet music
This is literally who I want to be
why did he switch to the black tip sticks?
Does anyone have sheet music for this
Curious if settings were at true 24P or 23.976 Psf?
Shot in latter, but I export in true
anybody know what his score was here?
cleaner than my room
Anyone know what sticks he's using? Specifically the one with the black tip
The sticks look like pro mark though
Scott Johnson practice sticks
My forearms hurt after watching this
I wonder if he got the title from the song "Backseat Freestyle"
John Adams yes he’s a kendrick fan

Excellent beautiful.
When he stops playing my phone is like a mile behind
Smooooooooooooth..
Stupid question but, what size is the snare? 14x12? 13x11? I need to know
More than likely 14". That's generally the size used in outside marching as opposed to indoor WGI stuff.
WOW !
Great playing (minus the stick drops), but it all kind of sounds the same.
Brandon is obviously talented, but I wish he had more competition. Sadly the majority of corps do not allow their members to participate. I think I&E makes for stronger performers.
anyone known what was under his shirt?
magoo salazar his harness
NukeThe Boost not his harness. It's the straps for his uniform pants.
magoo salazar It was probably the back brace he has. He has scoliosis ( or some sort of back problem) so his back needs to be braced whenever he isnt marching
How does one transcribe this
Those rims shots tho
Had a stick malfunction and was still champion
very nice
Brandon good job you should not feel bad about the stick drops were all human and we make mistakes.
gobears ThatIsTheSpirit
OK so Little B has some chops
snare facial expressions are basically the same but in different instances
1:15 uh oh
Nice...👍
3:16 close your eyes and tell me he isnt just playing singles.
3:23 🤧
I'm just going around asking this. Does anyone know how to tryout for the BDB snare line? Do I just show up to the BD auditions or what?
I'm sure they have the details on their site by now. I know with crown, it was pay audition fee, download audition packet(available only after audition fee is paid), practice your butt off, and show up to audition camp.
Matthew Anthony Oh I know about the camps and whatnot but i'm wondering if anyone knows the date of the camps. On their site it just says Blue Devil battery auditions. I'm not sure if it's for both lines or for just BD.
+jose perez the audition clinic is Dec 5-6th, and the actual auditions are on Dec 12-13th, from what I saw on the website.
Has anyone figured out how to try out for BDB snare line yet because I'm in the same boat as Jose
+Noah H I commented with the dates a while ago. You'll have to pay the audition fee, download the audition packet(available after fees are paid), practice, practice, practice, and then show up to the audition camps. All of the info is available on the bd website.
PINKIEEE!
Leave in to the amazing brandon olander to mess up twice and still be champion! Just, wow
