@@monkmutha8235 I think his video was how to transcribe an existing song into a dci-esce show, I don’t think he’s made a video on how to transcribe drums specifically into sheet music, which I would love to see!
You should perform for us sometime and let us rate and comment your solo! I'm sure it would sound very interesting; I know I've never heard a flub I&E solo before, so it would be exciting and cool to hear what you have been working on!
#ewquadssuckuseaflubdrumthosethingsareawesomeandthemostimportantsectionthemarchingband Steven have you managed to finish boot camp without getting dropped yet?
Man. I envy true drum talent like this. I wish had beginner level fundemental trainings back in the day. That foundation is so important. Great job, man. That was so fun to watch
Feel you on the timpani. I won a PAS $500 scholarship at All State solo contest. I was also the only senior percussionist to compete in All State solo contest (snare).
Just gotta say- I’ve always enjoyed your videos but never really fully appreciated them until recently, when I started trying to put together videos and actual editing and everything, not to mention the actual difficulty of a lot of the stuff you play, which you somehow make look super easy. Great job 👍
Small world - for the 2012 tenor duet where you note that there isn't a video, my uncle (Jack Murray) was in that winning duet. I'm sure he has the sheet music if you're interested
I absolutely love your videos. From your chops, insane, to your video editing and transitions. Also, you're incredibly well spoken. Hard to come across that with everything that's online. Super props. Keep it up! It's channels like yours that make youtube great.
I've transcribed sheet music for songs I was trying to learn on violin and ukulele, but it would be interesting to see how it's done for tenor and similar instruments, like drumkit and snare.. I don't know much of the nomenclature for drums so it would be neat to have some of the instrument-specific symbols and flare text explained.
I'm really impressed that you were so competitive in DCI I&E especially because that is what I am most familiar with and they would have an amazing amount of people with so much talent competing. .Cadets did not allow I&E when I marched and I think they still do not allow it. They like to maximize every minute of the day for rehearsal. I don't think they had a 3rd soprano category for me anyway.
That jungle book solo. My word. I played quads all throughout high school and I guess you guys were just on a different level. I honestly don't think I could have played that no matter how much time I had. It was just more rudiments then I had. Wow.
I played snare in I&E one time. I got into an argument with a drumline member over how difficult it was. So I switched from trumpet to snare, and got a higher score than him. Percussion became my instrument of choice and I haven't looked back since
Can you please do a video explaining rudiments? I am a high school band director and always confuse the notations and what they’re supposed to be. I have shown your videos to my students and they love them!
Bro that part right before 5:45 it was the cleanest throwdown ever , super tight not a rim in sight unless it was supposed to be there that’s the stuff that fuels my need to pick up sticks and bang on things , from one drummer to another thanks for that no I’m gonna go watch it a few more times
I think I remember you from DCA 2014. I was the mallet champion for that year and in 2013. Came in fourth in snare in 2014. Nice man! I still have that misspelled medal 🏅 😆
Honestly you should've just said, "if this video gets 15,000 likes I will compile all my I&E solos into one book and sell it as a book you can buy on the merch website and ill call EMC's I&E Solo Book." Tbh I'd buy it
The best drum corps are made of the best staffs 😏 I slammed subscribe, and would love to see a vid about the transcription process. It would be a useful tool for me and my students.
It could be like 10 months cause when I got my Xymox practice pad for my birthday in October of 2018 it showed up in August of 2019. I know your pain Eric
Off topic, but do you ever see David Oriente? He used to teach me at Evolution in 2011 a long time ago. I think he is in the military (army maybe?)_doing drumming as well. Also, solid ass playing as usual.
I played in a wedding band with Ian Hunt! Small world. Cool guy.
Ok
I was not expecting to see you here lol
Oh snap! It's Adam Neely. Great to see you here
Adam neely f/w marching percussion??
Collab with EMC when?
Definitely do a video on transcribing, that’s a useful skill
Pretty sure he did
Please🙏🙏

Could you link to it? I haven't seen it as of yet
I've been working on a flub drum I&E for several seasons. But my circuit doesn't have a flub category. THAT'S JUST PREPOSTEROUS!

That Matt Penland is one Smooth Criminal™️
Matt Penland's was based on Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal". I knew it right when I heard it. 😄 Clever!
Still wondering if Annie’s okay.
@@ireadysucks3026 Lol!
I thought it was based on the rock cover of smooth criminal.
Knew it sounded familiar!
That one solo is obviously based off smooth criminal by michal Jackson.
Yea what he says
Yes
Biggest uno reverse card I have ever seen
Ikr?
My group Flamin 4 won the ensemble division of MAPS I&E in 2019, so I we've held the title for 2 years with one performance
oh cuz coronuses lmao !
Should see if you can have a “get together” with other military percussionist. Your all in the same region.
Man. I envy true drum talent like this. I wish had beginner level fundemental trainings back in the day. That foundation is so important. Great job, man. That was so fun to watch
This is not talent. This is hard work. He started at a young age and practiced a lot. Like a lot a lot. It's never too late to start!

Brandon Zackey is the Drumline teacher at my school! 😂
I like how you made the cursor following the music even more transparent.
kevin thompson's brother is my high school battery instructor holy cow!
He sounds awesome!
Wow it is even more impressive the second time damn that was the all time throwdown ever
Small world - for the 2012 tenor duet where you note that there isn't a video, my uncle (Jack Murray) was in that winning duet. I'm sure he has the sheet music if you're interested
Transcribing is such a useful skill, definitely would appreciate a video on it a whole lot
Also Eric, can Mask Guy can do a Drumline battle against Brandon Olander?
Yessir, *Sergeant* Eric Michael Carr!!
Sergeant ...
@@RedDogMamaHD oh my bad
His title should be "No Rims".
We can now OFFICIALLY call him Sergeant Butthole...

I went to North Texas with Matt Penland and got to witness him work on his 2009 solo
That jungle book solo. My word. I played quads all throughout high school and I guess you guys were just on a different level. I honestly don't think I could have played that no matter how much time I had. It was just more rudiments then I had. Wow.
I ordered a hybrid snare pad from Xymox in May and haven't gotten it. Oh...and the "May" I speak of was in 2019.
Congratulations on your promotion!
Oh boy Xymox . . . Been waiting on a Hybrid Snare Drum for nearly 18 months
Oh yeeeaaah smooth criminal in that tenor solo!!
Damn, those scrapes in Penland’s solo were butter
I played snare in I&E one time. I got into an argument with a drumline member over how difficult it was. So I switched from trumpet to snare, and got a higher score than him. Percussion became my instrument of choice and I haven't looked back since
I see that weird time signatures that switch often and weird rudiments tend to win.
It’s funny that you lost to Joe Hilling, My sister was his wife’s coworker.
Joe Hills from Nashville, Tennessee
that smooth criminal solo by far the coolest
Rims don't dare get in the way of EMC's sticks, and yes, how did you possibly transcribe all of that?!
Can you please do a video explaining rudiments? I am a high school band director and always confuse the notations and what they’re supposed to be. I have shown your videos to my students and they love them!
Nice Smooth Criminal Reference!
We only had solo and ensemble for concert season and I think it was in April or May.
That Nick Arce solo is dope
Congrats sergeant! Spent Saturday with a couple of your fellow Marines collecting toys for Toys for Tots!
So you guys did a duet marching for two different corps? cool I think that is the best part.

EMC having 16k subs for almost a year

It is
Shit, drumline is a small world, indeed! I marched with Kevin Thompson’s brother Matt at UConn!
Low-key was NOT expecting to see Kevin on this list
Ooh you beat Zackey. He was my tenor instructor back in high school. Funny seeing his name here.
Amen on letting members compete in I&E!
Hey guess what! I’ve also been waiting for a Xymox product! I’ve been waiting for... (pause for effect)... 19 FREAKIN MONTHS!!!
8:01 always interesting to see techniques named after someone you know :) (the Casey Claw)
Smooth criminal that line was Annie are you ok
Sheet music credited to Nice Arce?
In England that's funny!
So when you do the crossovers, do you use open note heads only when you cross or do you do it when you uncross too?
it's just when you cross
Congratulations on your promotion Sgt EMC.
I just went to pasic for the first time this year it was pretty awsome
