Like it's one thing to see soloists flipping sticks behind the back and around the finger, maybe even doing some sick rolls...but to perform a clean *cresendo* while doing it? To throw in some sick modulation then after? Also, incase anyone was wondering, that stupid 5/8 + 7/8 rhythm on the rim around 1:55 is kept throughout that whole passage. He adds beats here and there but if you count 5/8+7/8 consistently then when he starts sticking again it will match perfectly.
I talked to him today; he said papa's pancakes and grandpa's popcorn were actual things - his dad made good pancakes and his grandpa made good popcorn, but nothing else came to mind this year
For some reason, I tend to watch snare solos when I'm poopin. It makes me wish I had half of this guys talent. Or Brandon Olander. Just too many to mention, but they are all brilliant and talented af..

This is GOAT. SORRY, BD. This boy doesn't miss. If there is a tick, blame the drum. Looks like Michael J Fox, plays like a Fking machine. #GOAT 🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐
This guy is a year older than me and I've been drumming for longer than he has and I'm not as good and I'm not crying you're crying because he marches my dream corps
i'm definitely not in a position to make critiques and like his beats sound clean af but am i the only person who thinks his left hand looks weird? I suppose if the beats are clean there's no technical right or wrong way to do it, but to me it just looks a bit weird and different
He never moves his ring finger and pinkie on his left hand. Many players take these fingers off at higher dynamics because the stick motion is expanded and it isn't as easy to keep them in the same position. The ability to keep these fingers in the same position at any dynamic shows perfect control of technique and velocity for every stroke.
sodanomusic ok...but you're literally anticlick baiting your self. You're losing views and the audience who are the causal viewers who don't know the names of these musicians. This is literally networking 101
I honestly feel that Ryan Elis's solo was much more musical and dynamic than this. Two outstanding players! Almost impossible to judge between the two! That being said I still think Ryan should've won :p
Every once in a while you see a person performing and it is painfully obvious that traditional grip is for use on a tilted drum. Look at that lean. Switch to matched and stand straight up immediately. 0:35.
@@TopDrumCorps I wasn't interested in the notes. Nor was I talking about them. I'm discussing approach to the instrument. That face at the end is his "I just won again and I'm gonna be center next year" face
You were right.
Hi eric
@@nathanhossenlopp6406 hello nathan
that solo was so stupidly clean and the rudiments were so stupidly hard that I am legitimately upset at how good he is.

Solaman Huq and he's like what, 19?
Star Warsfan100 18
18 OR 19, fuck this guy. . . he's too young to be this amazing! Lmao
It's in 5/4. Still very impressive, though :)
3:37 is genius! Chopping out the right hand and adding some smoke and mirrors with the left. Just such a creative move. Congrats to Bryce!
this solo is actually entitled mommas beatings
After 2 years of his family's cuisine, this is an unexpected twist.
Jeremy Quiros Totally.
I talked to him today; he said papa's pancakes and grandpa's popcorn were actual things - his dad made good pancakes and his grandpa made good popcorn, but nothing else came to mind this year
Jeremy Quiros well, he did have a solo entitled "grandma's cookies" to be fair, he just hasn't introduced it to DCI just yet
Oh yeah, I just saw that on RUclips. All his family's cooking is really crispy.
His mother needs to work on her spaghetti. . .
Heh, what a fuckin beast 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾🔥🔥🔥
sdjmalik so legit
sdjmalik you are also tho
3:36 HOLY CRAP HOW EVEN!!!
I've not gotten there yet lol 😂.
!?I just got there now 🤔, DAMN ?!
For some reason, I tend to watch snare solos when I'm poopin. It makes me wish I had half of this guys talent. Or Brandon Olander. Just too many to mention, but they are all brilliant and talented af..
Time to add butter
Bryce... the center for 3 years. God damn
I’m here for 2:38 because I was pointed out by my percussion teacher on how I did my buzz roles 😪 😂
That is funny
He’s like overflowing with chops
Who would dislike this godly video
1:00 that part looks like it feels so good to play.
Just about feeding into the 2018 DCI season right now... still go back to watch this... and my eyes/ears still get chopped out...
If the construction outside sounded this good, I'd never have a problem with it.
This is why scv won high percussion for all bc fan boys. Extremely technical and clean
Ryan Perez and Rennick writting
The man's fingers are godly
This was true quality... wondering how anyone could dislike this... "Sco Jo" must've sent his whole line to come dislike this :P
"hey man but what about brandon olander he marched blue devils..."
How did he become this skilled so quickly?
He practiced
priam Did he study under Paul Rennick?
Of course, he marches SCV
UltraPercussion so I'm gonna be the spoiled brat and say that, from his words exactly, he practiced 4-5 hours a day, didn't matter what time of day it was, where he was, he practiced
I mean he got into the best line in DCI? So why wouldn't he be skilled?
how come dis boy look like jacob sartorius but make better music
YOU kick ass!! thanks for sharing this. chops from hell!!
Vro that very last shot is so satisfying
-release the kraken- mother's muffins
wow!
Height control is ASTOUNDING
woah. nice touch.
This is the most beautifully rudimental things things I've ever seen rhythmically this us extremely difficult and creative i accidentally based a lot of my 2019 blue devils c corps i&e heavily in him
I've watched this like 5 times in one day
Incredible!
after hearing this tasty spirit I wanna just go crack open a bottle of Kraken and drink myself into submission cos that solo just an eargasism
This is BONKERS
Congrats Jonz Brotha!!!
Anyone else mad Bryce didn’t do I&E this past year
His playing was so good I forgot he was even wearing that shirt. 🤪
Even his buzzes are clean
Bryce - totally awesome job!
SICK!!!!
Well, that was rather nice.
Watching this video simultaneously practicing “RLRRLRLL” at 80bpm.
Guy’s a legend
BAD ASS!👌🏾🔥
1:48 to 2:43 is my fav
He was in my school
3:40 HOW TF!!??!???!!!?
It sounds like a robot playing this holy crap
He ended up getting first
I didn't know Rick Astley played snare in SCV when he was 15
I miss Kaito
This dude would make a great metal drummer
Keenan D literally any homeless guy off the street could be a good metal drummer wtf
Keenan D I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thought this
Jacob Bush So uhh about that
How about no
I only saw one minor tic and that was catching the stick on the rim during backsticking but just moved the drum a bit so maybe a 99.95 ?
how tall is Bryce gardner and how tall is brandon olander
Oleander who? THIS is clean, tight technique with no screw ups.
Does Bryce do marching band at his high school?
Ethan S-D he's a freshman at UNT now but I'm pretty sure he did
He was center snare at Plano Senior High School
fancy seeing you here
Joshua Vo :o
Ethan S-D It's nice to see you in every dci video I visit man...
3:38 fuck dude
Yahir Ramirez Yea, that melted my head
that 'grandpa' was wiser dear master...more than two logic gates (the third one the reference against the two audibles unless there is more limbs functioning) need to exist simultaneously.. precision has upgraded..the gates though are extremely 'fragile' territory.
He looks like Peter pans brother
nice thumbnail
ThatWasSexyPit Thank you.
damn.
chops
Place?
1st
sodanomusic that's wonderful
What was his score if anyone knows?! '17
How did he make that boink sound?
If you're talking about the sound at 1:50, it's probably the mounting system where the drum attaches to the harness.
GMG
Sheets?

woa
how tall is bryce?
skypon8 I met him at bandfest in Pasadena this year he's around 5'6"-5'7"
Amin Malekpour I'm like 5'6 and he's shorter than me. You can see on his carrier where his drum sits
Star Warsfan100 my guy... first off the carrier can be adjusted, second I've met the dude in person he's definitely not lower than 5'6"
he's actually pretty short. If he's 5'6 I feel like that would make me 5'8 or 5'9. So I think he's shorter than that.
He's definitely lower then 5'6"... it's kinda obvious
GOD OF SOLOS!!!@#@$#@@
Sup boi
I never actually found out but how the fuck do these guys have time to practice this
They’ve been practicing since 6th grade and went through HS drumline/ college/ and DCI
Yee Haw I meant the solo my guy
guys i think hes the avatar
How old is he?
Henry Yanes 19
Bryce gardener is good, but he looks like he's 15
Jackson Merriam pretty sure he's in college. Saw a video of him on the UNT drumline (basically SCV) so he's probably 18.
Freshman in college
This guy is a year older than me and I've been drumming for longer than he has and I'm not as good and I'm not crying you're crying because he marches my dream corps
sophomore
He's 19 lol
Anyone know what place?
1st
anyone got sheets?😹
Did he beat Brandon from BD?
Da Reyes This is 1st place.
Brandon didn’t march this season
Ryan Ellis
got time? haha original love it just a flat sounding room for acoustics but dang the chops this guy has

What’s up with that uniform design? San Francisco Vanguard? 🤣
A. Lugo more like Sanford Vanguard
*NOT ENOUGH RIM*
Wut
I love how he pretends that 3:35 was hard to play but then just goes on playing it with one hand
O my god what a flex
That blew my mind live
You should of really have put first place in the title. You would get more views :/
jeremy144713 If you follow the activity you know Bryce is.
sodanomusic ok...but you're literally anticlick baiting your self. You're losing views and the audience who are the causal viewers who don't know the names of these musicians. This is literally networking 101
Good point. I updated the title.
Lol.
im in percussion and im not that godd
Why is he dressed like a figure skater
I honestly feel that Ryan Elis's solo was much more musical and dynamic than this. Two outstanding players! Almost impossible to judge between the two! That being said I still think Ryan should've won :p
Ok but like Brandon has to come back this season and show him what’s up
He didn’t in my opinion.
Brandon's I&Es have always been painfully mediocre. He's a good member of a line, but a terrible solo act.
Every once in a while you see a person performing and it is painfully obvious that traditional grip is for use on a tilted drum. Look at that lean. Switch to matched and stand straight up immediately.

His sound lacks clarity. But then again most of today's dci snare drummers do.
Are you dumb?
No it doesn’t, it’s just because the camera audio and the indoor setting. It’s sounds mushier. But outdoors it’s very clear, more clear than the drummers from 60’s-90’s
