Frye vs. Takayama was one of the most badass fights I have ever seen! Just 2 Alpha Males standing toe to toe, repeatedly punching each other in the face as if they wordlessly came to agreement to do that to see who the toughest one was. I just showed my brother and uncle that fight 2 days ago! I'll never forget that epic battle of 2 raging bulls.
Little background on that fight, that card was boring so before their fight don went up to takayama and saod they need to put on a war for the fans and too go out their swinging. Whata crazy about that is takayama did k1 kickboxing here and their (mainly due to k1 and pride fc havin alot of connections so theyd bring mma guys over to k1 and vice verisa) so while takayama wasn't even a contender in k1 nonetheless had multiple k1 fights so for done to stand and bang was crazy
I met Mr. Don Frye, when I worked at local motorcycle shop here in Arizona. Met him and his wife, great people. Was a great customer and very respectful as well. Was a hell of fighter, remember watching his fight against the blond oriental fighter WOW.. Salute to you Sir..
Don Frye's best move was to walk into that arena with the flag and show his true heart. We all took the journey with him. What a real fighter looks like.

Hell yes. Been watching this guy since the 90's. The UFC is way more advanced now in terms of all around fighters and conditioning, but the fights in the 90's were awesome. And Dan Frye was a machine that couldn't be stopped. Still a damn monster too. Props to the Asian who stood there and traded blows. I don't think many guys could take that kind of abuse.
The UFC barely paid him back then I think his current net worth is something like 1.5mill with medical bills piling up. He def deserves some UFC back pay or a go fund me or something.

I watched many MMA fights over the years and when Don Frye was in it,I've never been disapponted with the intensity that this guy brought to the table!
Now all they do is dance around the ring for five minutes with people their size. And for some reason, the masses seem to eat it up, calling it, "beautiful, technical, graceful" and all other bullshit.
I often come back to this video when i bring up Don Frye to other dudes in fight conversations and they have no idea who I'm talking about. All this new hype fighting and focus on macgregor doing his shit talking drives me nuts. Watching Don connect some great hits and seeing the absolute f*cking momentum his punches carry is purely awesome. American brawn, strength and stamina. You gotta love a style that not many attempt.

Frye was definitely one of the best back in his Prime! His most intense match I think was against Takayama.
The fight against Shamrock was epic too. Both ended up with permanent injuries because none of them wanted to give up. Two legends.

Ufc is advanced now but the fighters definitely were not built like back then, they had little amount have rules and had to fight up to 20 min long.
