I met Don in Bisbee, AZ in 1992-93 where he was a firefighter/EMT. I was a probation officer and we had probationers doing community work service at the fire department and that's where I met him. He was a beast but very cool.
In the early days of pay per view there was nothing better than seeing Don Frye on a fight card. Also early Mike Tyson fights. Get the boys together, beers, some weed and have a blast. Thanks for the years of incredible entertainment, Don!

Wish I had paid more attention back then instead of hearing and seeing clips later. To me he is a genuine example of a proper Chad. Polite, yet doesn't have to be because he can practically whoop your ass for the same result AND then some without breaking a sweat. And it's not even a sort of "hostile" politeness either where it's masqueraded intent behind candied words.. he's just the type of guy you WANT to return the politeness to because he seems just genuinely pleasant. Even in his prime fighting age he still had this aura of kindness and respect and you could get this verified by each interview after the fights where he showed respect to opponents.
