I can’t decide if I want to pin this comment or one of the others challenging the claim that the Phenom 300 is the highest performance single pilot private jet... ah heck... I’ll pin this one - but I invite the discussion about other high performance jets :)
Thanks for your inspirational videos it's help me in my journey to private pilot. I'm 62 an I realized a life long dream yesterday I passed my checkride.
dougdavidtwins congratulations Sir! That is too very inspirational! I’m 40, began flying 13 years ago...have 32 hrs logged as a student pilot but need to get back in the plane and finish what I dreamt of long ago. I’m going to do it! Well done Sir!
Excellent sir. Congrats I'm finally getting info and set up to start my process as getting a pilot's license. Worked on fixed wing Jet and prop as well as helo. And always wanted to be able to fly (more than the 30 minutes of start up and stick time in the helos I worked on). Can't wait to get top the point you are at
That is called discipline. Henry is also a trained TBM pilot. He owned a TBM for 5 years before he bought the P300. As PIC, the safety of my passengers trumps everything else and Henry was the most qualified pilot in the plane to occupy the right seat. Then Steve got to occupy the right seat of the Phenom. I would call that a great outcome :)
I like the push to talk on the glare-shield, I always thought that was a great idea by Embrear. Don’t have to have hands on the yoke as the flying pilot fights a crosswind.
I would love to see what the Phenom 300 looks like in a full climb, either from the inside looking outside, or from the outside looking in. Seems like it offers the performance of a modern jet-fighter, but in a passenger aircraft package. Awesome video!
Great Video once again. Engines proudly made & tested at Pratt & Whitney Canada in Longueuil, PW535E, 3360 lbs thrust, by my coworkers and myself ! love it :)
Oh man, this video has me speechless, WTF. I love the way you guys shot, edit and presented this video and airplane. It's beautifully done and you make me want to gamble in the stock market so I can get one of these. lol
Just saying, don’t gamble to earn one of these beauties, you’ll end up owing that much to your broker. But I’m sure you’ll find a way to get one if you really want one :)
Another memorable flight, Mr. Thorne. I listened to Jason interview you on TFP. I appreciate your style and the acceptance of it among your peers. Hope to see you in April... and that other Steve(o)
So my flight instructor tells me: ***watch all the flight shows on you tube i can., then we go for our first flight, he tells me at conclusion: if i could simply sign you off i would., theres nothing else to teach you...exc...*** Its shows like this, the flight clubs, reasonable plane rentals, certs and good instructors that make obtaining your license worth it... Thank you for making these videos.
You can buy used single pilot military fighter jets that are much higher performance though, right? Also, even for single pilot private passenger jets, the Citation CJ4 seems to have higher performance (442 knot cruise for CJ4 vs. 419 knot cruise for P300). This does seem to a good jet overall though and has better fuel efficiency than a CJ4.
What I hear is you need FAA approval to buy and fly a used military jet. A civilian ought a harrier jet to fly. Had to get approval. To buy a used military jet you need approval from the state department and that’s not going to happen. Only 1 man has and he was a ex pilot for the marines. Was a test pilot flew every AC we have So basically NO. they told him. We will watch you and you won’t fly

When I was in the Army back in the late sixties I took the flight exam but missed the rotary wing by 12 points so I asked to take the fixed wing but they wanted helicopter pilots so it was refused. Then life got in the way. still, love the thought of flying and I have flown commercial many times and have been to 15 or so countries.
I've only been subscribed and have been watching your video for the past few months, but they have really inspired and exposed me to the world of aviation. I will be starting my training for a PPL in March with the Singapore Youth Flying Club on the DA40. Congratulations on your achievements, and I hope the best for you and all the amazing aviation enthusiast in our FlightChops community. Till next time, safe flying
Good luck, I am in a similar position, 1/20 hours required for soloing. Singapore's a really cool place as well, I thought it was funny that FA-18s (?) were patrolling the aerospace above Gardens by the Bay.
Jack Teo, you might think to mention that obtaining a PPL in Singapore, like many other "luxury items or hobbies" is extremely expensive and well overpriced, compared to the same license obtained in Canada for example. This is because a pilot license of any sort in Singapore is considered a status symbol by Chinese Singapore citizens in particular; either that, or the government decided that the price and its requirements were fair. If it were not so, why is there a requirement to pay $30,000 upfront to the Singapore Flying Club, without any pilot training or anything else? I lived in Singapore for ten years for reasons not entirely under my control: if you obtained your PPL outside Singapore, you would be able to purchase a new aircraft and lease it out, with the money you saved by not getting your PPL in Singapore.
I agree with him, if you spend that kind of money it is a WTF kinda moment. Not like the real thing but I love flying this aircraft in the sims and watching videos on it. Unfortunately not to many Phenom pilots sharing on RUclips these days. Thanks FlightChops for sharing this excellent aircraft.

They sure are awesome airplanes! But being from Europe I must say I just find it baffling that it is legal to fly the P300 single pilot over in the states and Canada! 😳

Haha yeah - the notification of your comment inspired me to check the "realtime stats" of this one... - with in 2 hours from now, it will break 1M - crazy.
experience professional piloting at ease especially with single piloting as this one.....truly a marvel sight to watch indeed. Hats off to you sir and the vlog team. We the flying enthusiasts public need more of this kind.
I love that he has WTF. I'm surprised that N number was available. Most people don't know you can easily request N numbers just like vanity plates on a car.
Technically that would not be possibly as an N number since in the US at max you can only have the last two characters be letters. Though the way Canada does their system, he and a couple others can end in WTF, they just they all have to be a different class of aircraft.
In Canada, aircraft operating with a Certificate of Airworthiness are registered under C-F??? or C-G???. This includes Amateur Built operating with a Special Certificate of Airworthiness. You could have an identical model of aircraft C-FAAA and C-GAAA. I don't know if that's actually happened though. Aircraft without a CoA are registered under C-I???. This includes basic ultralights (similar to US ultralights) and advanced ultralights (similar to US LSA).
Dammit, now I want one! Gotta call BS on Henry's claim that it's the highest performance single pilot jet though, that title belongs to the SyberJet SJ30 (and of course you can always buy an old MIG 29 if you really need the performance); the Phenom is more comfortable though 🙂
Matt Guthmiller matt why do you never respond to ANY of my comments from your videos such as the achievements of your world solo aviation journey? i assure you that all comments are praise for your piloting skills and like steve aka flight chops you are both consummate gentlemen

One time I met a guy in a TSA line. He had an Embraer backpack. I asked him about it. He was making the trip to take delivery of his new Phenom. He was happy. May you all be as happy as he was.
I'm not a pilot. Though I was wondering, do you guys think he was over controlling on landing there? I've always wondered why some pilots and race car drivers too really move those controls.
Braeden Hamson different pilot, different technique. I always teach and tell my students to not fight or over control the plane when landing, but you will run into pilots that over control a bit for landing.
THIS is what the flying community is all about! I love that you guys were able to co ordinate - and the video is so much fun - great way to capture a memory that little guy will not soon forget!
There did not used to be any problems with my color vision (not so sure about that anymore), but I have been VERY BADLY Far-Sighted since I was born, and cross-eyed to boot.I struggled with keeping from getting a case of Lazy Eye. I never had a chance at becoming a pilot, so of course, that's all I have ever wanted. I did get to go Navy and was in Aircraft Maintenance, which is as close to being a Pilot as I will ever get. They made an exception for my vision because I was good for everything else. I got to clean planes and make sure parts were greased where they should be and not where they should not be. I got to direct once in a while, and ride the brakes a couple of times. That was fun. But it's not enough. If reincarnation really is a thing, I want to be a Pilot. Or be born a bird or bat. :P
A great airplane with avionics that make single pilot a breeze. Your friend seems to have the airplane under complete control. He really seems to enjoy flying the Phenom but why wouldn't anybody love flying that airplane! I definitely see the Phenom 300 in the cards for Osama!
I'm 23 right now and being a pilot is my dream. I've not wanted to do anything as much as this. I worked at an airport and every day going in to work was so depressing whenever I'd see a pilot walking past or seeing a plane. But I just can't afford the pilot school fees and that is such a hard thing for me to swallow. I hate the fact that something like money can stand in the path of someone's dream. Whenever I see a pilot it's such a bittersweet feeling ;') happy tears man, happy tears.

It's really encouraging to hear those down-to-earth answers for questions like "how did you get to this point in your aviation career".
That is called discipline. Henry is also a trained TBM pilot. He owned a TBM for 5 years before he bought the P300. What a gorgeous plane. Was nice to be a part of this development back in my aerospace days. Engineers are Embraer do excellent work. Great video
I wanted a TBM. Now I want a Phenom 300. :)
Nice vid, thanks for giving us a look at a beautiful jet!
I have a TBM but I REALLY want a Phenom 300.
What are you waiting on?!!? It's only around 8 million dollars or so. :P
That's a one hell of a tail number, love it. Phenom 300 performance is just awesome, jumps like a fox. Badass bird, though pricey a bit.
Great Video once again. Engines proudly made & tested at Pratt & Whitney Canada in Longueuil, PW535E, 3360 lbs thrust, by my coworkers and myself ! love it :)
Always nice to see planes in the air with products you've worked on. I got to work on the starter\generator system and DGCU on the P100\P300
It is so awesome to see comments like this! The flying community is awesome! And I am proud P&W is a Canadian company :)
I build the Empenneage, depending on when this plane was built chances are i had my hands all up in that tail.
Not that there's anything wrong with that
Reading this kind of exchange on RUclips comments makes it worth it for all the rest of the acephalous drivel.
That is a whole new level of performance, wow! Fun video Steve!

I was literally just thinking the other day how cool it would be to be the owner of the WTF tail number. And saw this video like a week later.

Last sentence is the best "When you spend the money you spend to have one of these, you basically say 'What The F*ck'". He seems like a cool dude.
That explains the tail number.
I thought the same lol
Sometimes you just have to say, "WTF". But, you want to avoid the "CFs" whenever possible.

whats the joke?
Great episode, amazing the large range of things you get to fly in!
“It could be... I wouldn’t ever do it. I’d rather wait, and do it properly.” I wish every pilot thought like that during every moment of flight.
Fabulous video, takes me back to my youth - Dad flew the Gulfstream 2 & 3 back then and I was privileged to ride the jump seat on occasion.
Awesome Vid, the Phenom 300 has been my favorite Single Pilot airplane for a long time but the new Pilatus PC24 is about to dethrone it.
I fly the PC-12NG for work. I didn't like the Honeywell at first but it's really grown on me over the Garmin
Yeah I have no idea what the costs are. I'm just the monkey that flies it. We did get the 24 too and it's very similar to the NG in the layout
wow that's crazy. But if you are spending 16 million on a jet you should be able to afford it lol
Are you going to get one of those Steve?
cjsims3000 I wish!
Congrats on the Multi rating Steve. The Phenom 300 has a clean, modernistic look in the cockpit. Great video as always.
YES! Every time I see a new flightchops video it feels like Christmas morning. Keep it up!

This is an awesome video, thank you. The Phenom 300 is an outstanding aircraft. And, congrats on getting your multi-engine rating.

Thanks! Feels good to have that done... my lack of IFR progress had got me down, but that was a boost of confidence.
FlightChops you have worked your bum off to get back to full par with your flying skills and you are truly humble which i love

In Canada it's possible to do single pilot commercial ops if there are no more than 9 passengers.
I love this episode. I think if I got into flying I'd be more into the warbird and tail dragger buzz than the whole private jet thing.

"hows the fuel burn?" "oh really" "wtf"
Truly Brazilian Masterpiece! Phenom rocks!
Seriously? ... Their call-sign is wtf? That’s hilarious.
experience professional piloting at ease especially with single piloting as this one.....truly a marvel sight to watch indeed. Hats off to you sir and the vlog team. We the flying enthusiasts public need more of this kind.
Straight from my motherland! Hail Embraer!
11:57 you’re climbing into the standard pressure region (> 18 000), altimeter setting region is below 18 000 :)
SnowmanTF2 Interesting. I know a lot of people that have their initials as the last two letters but never realized you can't have three.
And I get that since it's Canadian it's not an N number. What is it? G number?
N is the USA, C is Canada, G is the UK.
Skill is making something complicated like this aircraft look easy. Great vid!
Dammit, now I want one! Gotta call BS on Henry's claim that it's the highest performance single pilot jet though, that title belongs to the SyberJet SJ30 (and of course you can always buy an old MIG 29 if you really need the performance); the Phenom is more comfortable though 🙂
Matt Guthmiller is it possible to get rated on and actually fly a mig 29? Is anyone doing it if so? Thanks :)
Matt Guthmiller matt why do you never respond to ANY of my comments from your videos such as the achievements of your world solo aviation journey? i assure you that all comments are praise for your piloting skills and like steve aka flight chops you are both consummate gentlemen

Matt Guthmiller matt, you got to go from bonanza to the phenom 505-300E it's to die for
It is, at least in russia. They do commercial flights. They start at 12500 euros, but hey, you get to go supersonic.
You sir, get to fly some really nice airplanes! Thanks for sharing them with us.
OH MY GOOOOOOOD! FINALLY!!!
One time I met a guy in a TSA line. He had an Embraer backpack. I asked him about it. He was making the trip to take delivery of his new Phenom. He was happy. May you all be as happy as he was.
It can be all yours for just $9.4M or just 12 low monthly payments of $783,333 + shipping and handling :)
that's far cheaper than the 70 million for a Gulfstream G650
Dude, you really need a Netflix deal. These are too much fun for just youtube.
I saw this plane yesterday at the FBO I work at. I will fuel it and send it out this morning!
Saw WTF in KFPR today! great video
Yep. I was flying it today. We are parked at APP Jet Center until Sunday. Come by Sunday at 4pm if you want to take a peak inside.
Osama Arafat you are the man. Thanks so much for the invite, will do my best to be there at 4 today.
Hey Luke. Thanks for stopping by. It was great to meet you and your little guy. Congrats on your CFI rating and keep up the good work.
Made a little video of our visit. Thanks again. ruclips.net/video/FwVLQzeVQnM/видео.html
THIS is what the flying community is all about! I love that you guys were able to co ordinate - and the video is so much fun - great way to capture a memory that little guy will not soon forget!
I am not an aircraft person, but this video was so beautiful it left me a lot of thinking to do.
At the 2:35 mark.... Funny stuff...! Now THAT'S a call sign to die for....WTF....!
Love, love, love the 300! That is my dream ride!
I uh... I just want a _Piper Cub_ in all honesty *:p*
Brodie Bennett I just want a SR-71 Blackbird.
I don't care what I fly , I just want that avionics system in my flight deck
I just want to not be color blind :(
Brodie Bennett "I just want a Piper Cub"
Here's an upgrade for you: cubcrafters.com/xcub
one of your best videos
"Phenom" ... 'great name!
I work at the FBO at CYSJ. We had WTF come in one day, and I stayed GLUED to the window cause I was half expecting to see you aboard haha.
Wonderful video! Can you tell me the names of the songs/tracks in this video? :)
Your stuff just keeps getting better!
I have the flyboys kneeboard and was looking at getting that same iPad setup for it for use in my helicopter flying. How do you like that whole setup?
It is a great set up!
A great airplane with avionics that make single pilot a breeze. Your friend seems to have the airplane under complete control. He really seems to enjoy flying the Phenom but why wouldn't anybody love flying that airplane! I definitely see the Phenom 300 in the cards for Osama!
Would fly with osama any day
I'm 23 right now and being a pilot is my dream.
You’ll get there - just work toward it - do something to get to the goal everyday - even a small thing - just keep grinding.
Stilllllllllll waiting for MJ part 3..... :D
Chops - Really cool to see you and Osama filming in my backyard, Bradley International Airport. Great vid !
