    The Pilot is one of the most professional 'General Aviation' guys I've ever seen, knowledgeable, professional, but calm cool and collected. It would be a real treat just to hang out at the hangar with him and just soak in all that knowledge.

      It's amazing how professional you will be when its your family and not strangers only if all commercial airline pilots flew like this witch most of them do I work for one of the biggest airlines awesome video and will be sub and watching all the rest
      You can tell a good pilot by looking at his log book and the total take offs equal the number of landings

    Being passionate and always striving to be better, is always the best thing one can do to keep growing and it was clear that the TBM 850 owner passionately, loved his aircraft. This flightchops video represented more than a flight to Lake Ontario. To me, the video represented a culmination of passion, perfect video editing skills, encouragement to fly and an appreciation of these beautiful flying machines. I believe that as we become more modern and digitized in the world today, people are losing the value for flight and the idea that a human can fly in these machines. However, having seen such an enthusiastic co-pilot and owner(pilot) who clearly explains the different capabilities and flying processes involved with an aircraft, encourages me to continue training for my PPL, and strive to attain a Ferrari + TBM in a hangar too :D #BoseA20

  • @jameshaas5922
    @jameshaas5922 5 лет назад

    Great video! I'm about to watch part 2 and catch more of your material, thanks for doing this. Osama is awesome too. I did notice one minor glitch that I can't help mentioning. At 5:15 you had that note that said “Beta = feathering the prop to reduce thrust”. Feathering is usually 90 degrees blade angle, like when you first saw the TBM. Its prop was knife-edged (feathered). After the engine is started the prop's blade angle is lowered from 90 down to a finer/lower blade angle. There is a hydro-mechanical system which minimizes that blade angle reduction at a set angle (18 degrees in a king air). When you select Beta (and then reverse if your PT-6 aircraft is so equipped) the blade angle is allowed to get even smaller = less thrust. So beta is smaller blade angle, feather is higher (highest actually) blade angle. Thanks again!!

    Great video. Mr. Arafat seems like a very classy guy. Just one point of clarification. All the part are actually not spinning in the same direction in a reverse flow engine. Although the compressor turbines are mechanically unlinked to the propeller turbines, they are however aerodynamically linked in opposite directions so as to cancel out counter torque effects.

      +Sean Lohuddin Thanks and agreed - And to be clear, I don't think he meant ALL parts rotate in the SAME direction, but rather that a given part rotates in one direction... unlike a piston engine where a given part (like a piston or valve) is reversing direction constantly.

    The PIC appears to show a high level of professionalism. Seems like a really nice guy to share the flight deck with. No doubt in my mind when he upgrades to a personal light jet he will transition very smoothly. Especially if he upgrades to something garmin based such as Phenom1/300 or a Honda Jet! Good Luck!

    Great Video! I have been in love with the TBM 850 and 900 for many years now but haven't had a chance to fly it. It's the perfect step up for someone coming from a SR22 like the captain here or coming from a Cessna 400 like me.

    What a pleasant video to watch. The airplane is amazing, the pilot knows the aircraft and clearly loves to fly. Thanks for sharing!

    I've flown this plane! Admittedly it was in Lockheed Martin's simulator software using a VR headset, but who cares :) Watching the video felt really familiar and the sound in the simulator was exactly the same as the real thing. So quiet and smooth. Only thing missing was the feelings and the smell of all that plush leather and walnut :(

      I wonder if they could bottle that smell and then spray it at you while you're flying the simulator 😉😆

    Again thanks for taking me along this flight while still over here lol. I always can learn with these flight of yours. This TBM 850 is top spaceship. I hope be able to afford such a machine one day! Please, keep up the great job you've been doing. I think you make it with a unique creativeness of yourself, which is very cool! Fly safe and success.

    Very nice Steve. I am sure at landing time things happen fast in this one. You have to be ahead of the airplane. This is no C172!

    Strive to be the best - the difference between a good pilot and a great pilot. Hat's off to you Osama, inspirational. Great video again Steve!
    As for instrumentation preferences, I prefer the individual gauges too, although a well designed PFD (something like the Collins Proline) can be a great asset for IFR situational awareness when you're in the goop. VFR you should really be eyes outside so minimal internal distraction is paramount. Political conversation anyone...!
