Patsy recorded her single “Crazy” in one take. She had tried to record it a week earlier, but found it difficult because she was still recovering from a bad car accident in June 1961. The headband you see in her “live” TV performance here was worn to help cover scars from that accident, in which her head collided with the windshield.
you really need to hear Willie Nelson, a very interesting character, his bio would make a good movie.❤
Was just going to say the same thing. Patsy had one of those instantly recognisable voices. You only had to hear that voice to know it was Patsy Cline.
@@lindagmoody6282 Willie Nelson wrote this song Crazy, then Patsy made it her song as she always did!!
This is one of the best country voices around. Patsy had so many great hits such as "She's Got You", "Walkin' After Midnight", "Sweet Dreams", "So Wrong", "Leavin' on Your Mind", "I Fall To Pieces" "San Antonio Rose", "Blue Moon Of Kentucky", "Half As Much", "He Called Me Baby", "Faded Love" etc. She was only 31 when she died in a plane crash in 1963. In 1985 Jessica Lange starred in the movie about Patsy's life called "Sweet Dreams". "Home Free" does a great cover of "Crazy".
I also love her version of the "Tennesse Waltz"
Patsy had the voice of an angel. She grew up very poor and had a hard life. She was a huge country singer when her life was cut short at a young age. She died in a private plane crash. She also had a terrible fear of flying. You would also love her recording of Sweet Dreams. There was also a movie made of her life also called Sweet Dreams. Thanks for your great reactions to Patsy Cline.
Sweet Dreams is an incredible song - one of my favorites from that era
@@nancyminton3064 Mine too. 👍
She's still a legend in her hometown. I live an hour away, my mom's first husband grew up down the street from her.
In a short time, she made a huge impact on music in general, not just country music.
I wonder what else she could have given us if she didn't like so many artists die so young.
The song "BLUE' was written for Patsy but she died before she could record it. Leann Rimes was given it to record as her voice is so outstanding like Patsy's. Leann turned it into a stunning debut smash hit even though she was only 14 at the time. Her vocal control is absolutely unbelievable. Blue by Leann Rimes is a must listen.
Willy Nelson wrote this one. Patsy did it so well.
Willie wrote a lot of songs that other artists have done.
He recently turned 90 years old.
Definitive version in my opinion.
Willie Nelson, not Willy
@@grahamboffey457
Yes, Patsy was perfect, and done in one take. (That headband she wore for it was covering a recent car accident.)
But Angelina Jordan’s is very very good too, and done at a much younger age.
Yes, but it was originally called "Stupid".
Willie Nelson wrote Crazy in 1961 when he was despondent about his career and marriage.
"On the Road Again"
"Always on my Mind"
"Mammas Don't Let your Babies Grow Up to be Cowboys"
"Georgia in My Mind"
" Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain"
Great list. +++
“Seven Spanish Angels” w/ Ray Charles
“The last thing I needed the first thing this morning.”
“To all the girls I’ve loved before”
I think a lot of these are on the album “Always on My Mind.”
His *Spirit* album is a goldmine too.
@@scurvyelephant333 "Heroes have always been Cowboys"
Willie nelson that wrote crazy is not the same Willie nelson that wrote ...always on my mind..different song writer..people assume this because he covered the song..
Gotta do Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain by Willie... You'll love it.
Her voice is exquisite! Always On My Mind is Willie's best song, imo. Even Elvis covered it! When you find the time & feel like listening to more country, I recommend The Wichita Lineman & Southern Nights by Glen Campbell. Great reaction 👏
Just a fun fact, the song "Blue" was originally written for Pasty. She was set to record it when she died. The song writer withheld the song until he heard LeeAnn Rimes sing "Crazy" at age of 12. It became LeeAnn's first hit at 13.
Another iconic song by Patsy Cline is I Fall To Pieces. Patsy Cline was my mother's favorite female singer and she told me all about how Patsy came to national attention. Patsy entered a televised talent show for amateurs . She came on the show in a dress made by her mother. (Many women at that time sew their own clothes,). She very much wasn't the usual show business person , but she blew them away with her talent. She was on the show several times. The show was a showcase for new talent. A young Elvis was on the show on another time long. before he became a big star. The name of the show was Arthur Godfrey's Talent Scouts.
Willy Nelson is an aquired taste vocally in my opinion. Brilliant song wtriter though.
Patsy's voice captured these boys after she sang a few bars. You could see it by the expressions on their faces.
The word that comes to my mind when the song ends is “satisfying”.
This song by Patsy was a 10 in 1961 and will always be a 10 forevermore. Floyd Cramer was playing piano and The Jordaires were background singers. They were also background singers for Elvis. I saw them live in Las Vegas in a tribute to Patsy Cline show and got all of their autographs. Great reaction to a Ledgen
before this she went thru a car windshield thats why she wearing a forhead band
Suggestion: Willy Nelson and Ray Charles--Seven Spanish Angels
Leanne Rimes did a beautiful tribute medley to Patsy Cline.
She did a wonderful job with wonderful renditions of Patsy's songs.
She died before I was born and I'm not a big country music fan. Yet, I LOVE this song. She was so gifted that her talent crossed all musical genres. Such a tragic loss at such a young age.
She is wearing a scarf on her head because she was in a car crash and had stitches in her forehead. And then she died in a plane crash. See if you can find her singing "Sweet Dreams" Goose bumps.
A Willie Nelson song: Mammas Don't Let Your Babies Grow up to Be Cowboys
The pianist is Floyd Cramer. He was quite big, back in the day. The backing vocals are by The Jordanaires. They were Elvis' backup singers on his early hits.
I'm old. Not old enough to remember seeing Patsy Cline when she was alive, although I might have and just don't remember. However I grew up hearing this song and suspect that almost all Americans over the age of 45 will know it as well. One of the absolute best female vocalists of any period. You are correct, so many recording artists of the 50s, 60s, and 70s died in plane crashes.
Willy Nelson
BLUE EYES CRYING IN THE RAIN
Patsy had a hauntingly beautiful voice. Another great song of hers is Sweet Dreams.
Walking After Midnight is a good song to review. 😊
You should listen to Angelina Jordan's cover of this song.
A great Willie Nelson song for starters would be 'Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain'.
This is bar room smoke filled slow dancing drunk song
An angelic voice, truly one of the greats. Thanks for your reaction.
Back in the day when juke boxes were ALL OVER THE PLACE (I'm sure by you, too?) this song was played more than any other in the history of juke boxes in the USA. It is regarded by many people as the greatest American song of ALL TIME! Patsy was loved by all and we were shocked when we heard the news of the crash and her passing and HAVE NEVER GOTTEN OVER IT.
I do have a post script to this: Angelina's version of 'Crazy' on tik tok at 16 years old is scary good, so much so, I think Patsy's spirit would be in the front row applauding Angelina's brief but incredible interpretation of Patsy's song.
Willie Nelson? Just google him and find out what he has written. He is quite the songwriter.
Love her, beautiful voice
Now listen to Home Free perform Crazy in the same key as Patsy.
Patsy is IT. Her interpretation is soooo ... 😍
Willie's songs are iconic too.
Someday, when you are craving a bit of Home Free, check out their cover of this classic.
I was introduced to Patsy Cline through listening to KD Lang, who thought she was the reincarnation of Patsy Cline. What a stunning voice. She made you feel the heartbreak.
My dad loves this song. He has another fave song (his all-time favorite song)… Can you pls react to Dusty Springfield’s “Yesterday When I Was Young”? Roy Clark popularized this French song written by Charles Aznavour & Georges Garvarentz and several artists covered it but my dad I love Dusty’s version the most. She was a music icon who’s life ended too soon.
One of the greatest songs in the American Song Book. Patsy will forever be one of the great vocalist of all and any time.
♥ The teardrop in Patsy's voice is unmistakable.
North American Top 3
#1 Patsy Cline
#2 Linda Ronstadt
#3 Anne Wilson
Her plane went head on into the side of a mountain!
Oh dear, bp1, "who is he?". Please start with Willie singing " momma don't let your babies be cowboys"
Patsy had such a possible high and sustained ceiling in country music only to have it dashed in an instant along with Cowboy Copas and Hawkshaw Hawkins. I always think it is important to acknowledge them as well - just two entertainers also trying to make their own way. When young LeAnn Rimes came along, she was thought to be much like Patsy due to her vocal qualities. I would encourage you to react to a video where the ACA in 2013 paid tribute to Patsy, on the 50th anniversary of her death, by Leann singing a medley of her hits. You kind of get a "two-fer" of LeAnn and Patsy's music. Plus Leann sounds so very much like her. Thanks Guys, as always - Cheers!
LeAnn Rimes Patsy Cline tribute ACAs 2013 High Quality
She was an amazing singer - one of the all-time best. Although I was a baby when she passed, I grew up knowing her music because my godfather (who taught me music) had worked with her and held her in high esteem. Walking After Midnight is one of my favorites from her, it is quintessential old country.
Best voice range ever. Growing up hearing her voice through out the house. I miss it.
Willie Nelson .... "Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain"
One and only..... Mr Willie Nelson 🧘🧘🧘🧘
The Red Headed Stranger album by Willie Nelson is an overlooked Masterpiece.
You Were Always Qn My Mind,or Remember Me by Wilie Nelson.
AMAZING VOICE!! Thanks guys and stay safe.
Willie Nelson's working title for this song was "Stupid".
“Always on my mind”
By Willie Nelson is my all time favorite song of his.
He also wrote “Hello Walls” Faron Young recorded this one and no one does a better job on it then him.
Do the studio version of both of the above songs please.
You requested Willie .... Night Life by Willie Nelson is a classic than many have covered ,,
WILLY NELSON has been around forever hes 90 or 91 years old now still singing
"Sweet Dreams" and "She's Got You" are my favorites from this timeless amazing legend.
Willie Nelson-Blue eyes crying in the rain
Still gives me goosebumps after all these year.
You might like Patsy singing Sweet Dreams. You can hear the emotion in her voice
Patsy was great! Try Willie's song " Stay All Night".
Angelina Jordan sings that song crazy you might things Patsy Cline best Angelina Jordan saying it
Listen to a younger generation singer - Alison Young - same song... She's phenomenal, exquisite voice. And talent. 🧘🌹
Willy also introduced Dolly Parton to the Grand Old Opry when she was just 13 years old I believe.
Willie had originally titled this song "Stupid"
Patsy’s voice and phrasing is just magical, she’s a certified classic. Yes, please, do Willie. His anthems are Whiskey River and On the Road Again, but he has many others as well. Lovely, as always! Peace …
Someone has added the studio version over the video which probably a tv broadcast.
You should react to her last song recorded in 1963 and Released 3 weeks after her Death.... Sweet Dreams Of You....And for Willie Nelson this live performance is one of his best....ruclips.net/video/R7f189Z0v0Y/видео.html
Willy Nelson - King of the road....just sayin' its a great one
Love Patsy Clines music…..listen to Angelina’s version it is so awesome
Some Willie Nelson songs to check out. Texas , Tired , Be That as it May.
Willy Nelsons most famous is probably "On the road again", but i think his best is "Blue eyes crying in the rain"
You should listen to "Blue" by LeAnn Rimes. She was only 13 when she recorded it!
Willy Nelson's album Stardust, is so incredible. He recorded all the songs he wrote songs for artists he made famous. It is beautifully made. ❤
Patsy Cline singing SHES GOT YOU...amazing
Patsy Cline & Elvis at one point we're the most played on any Juke box .Patsy's voice is haunting in a comfortable way.
You Were Always on My Mind was a big hit for Willy.
This song was once declared the most played song in saloon jukeboxes around the world. Not sure how anyone could know such a thing but, it seems absolutely possible.
Keeping track of what was played in jukeboxes was always a big part of the music industry. Guys would travel from location to location making notes from the machines on their route. Recording companies, radio stations, publishing houses, and others were the buyers and users of the collected info.
The true queen of country.
Perfection... the perfect piano, perfect bass, perfect drum, perfect back-up singers (I read somewhere they were The Jordanaires, who also recorded (I believe) with Elvis Presley), and the perfect voice of Patsy Cline!
Hello from across the pond. I have a winner for you two gents. Home Free "When A Man Loves A Woman" .
BLUE SKIES~Willy Nelson
She pulls you in . . . don't know why, she just does.
do stardust, song and or album of the same nam, willy nelson!!
This goes back to the beautiful country music, when I was young. Willy Nelson’s song “You Were Always On My Mind” I always thought was his best.
Willie used to say guitar in her band......
Wow.if could get y fat fingers out of the way maybe I could see what I'm saing.
This has the studio version dubbed over the live performance. It might be here on u-tube somewhere, but the live version is every bit as good if not better. Hope you can find it. Some other great live performances from her if they are still up: I Fall to Pieces, She's Got You, Walking after Midnight, Blue Moon of Kentucky.
Patsy knew somehow that she wasn’t going to live very much longer. She had started saying her goodbyes to loved ones and giving stuff away to people. Some kind of premonition. Love her voice so much!
The late Patsy Cline had a string of hits including "I Fall To Pieces", "She's Got You" and "Sweet Dreams (of You)". She died in a plane crash in March 1963 (at 30 years old). She had such an amazing voice. Willie Nelson is 90 years old and his hits include "Always on My Mind" and "On the Road Again". Thanks for playing this & your comments.
I believe this was filmed soon after the car accident where she sustained facial injuries. Fun fact, she did not want to record her first hit, Walking After Midnight, to her it sounded like a street waler. She was the first country singer to perform with an orchestra, in Sweet Dreams.
You should do Brenda Lee all alone am I. Talk about a voice.
Hank is losing his shit right now, 🐾🐾He loves Patsy! Chuey took off, but ha has enjoyed the last few out of you 2. She's not my favorite, but I have respect for her, and you know, Hank's in heaven.
Willie Nelson: "You Were Always on My Mind" ruclips.net/video/R7f189Z0v0Y/видео.html this is from in his prime.
Willie nelson is a music icon. He is currently on a 25 city tour at the age of 90. And he still sounds great.
Glad that you enjoy this song as much as I always have. First time I heard it, I was having lunch in a little cafe in Western New York with my uncle, and this came on the radio. My uncle was a musician himself, and he adored Patsy Cline. This was quite a long time ago, of course. But I've never heard her like since (not even LeeAnn Rimes). Willie Nelson: yeah, do lots of him: Blue Eyes Cryin' in the Rain ... Whiskey River ... Last Night I Went to Bed at 2 with a 10, But I Woke up at 10 with a 2 ... and so on ...
A lot of great Patsy Cline songs. If you want to actually see her sing live, heres a cool one of her singing "Leaving on your mind".
Cheers
ruclips.net/video/xV2YwWjTaco/видео.html
Any of Willy’s songs. ❤ My favorite is Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground. Sounds like home (TX). A faster piece I love is Whiskey River. He has a ton of humorous songs like Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die. And, his Elvis cover that I like better than the original Always on My Mind.
Willie Nelson wrote this and sold it to Patsy for 500 dollars. When Patsy was killed she had just signed a contract to perform a regular show in Vegas where she would sing big band, pop, and jazz with country. She was perfect. Remember, these old tapes were recorded live with no dubbing.
Try and hunt down a version of this video that hasn't been dubbed. She does a fantastic performance with out someone "fixing her" and autotune and all that. I know they are out there it will just take a little searching to find it.
I’m so Lonesome I Could Cry by Patsy Cline is a good one too!❤
You had to have actual talent before auto tune came on scene.
“I Fall to Pieces” is another great Patsy Cline song
Check out Leann Rimes, who was considered the new Patsy Cline when she debuted.
Crazy was written by Willie Nelson back before he became famous for his singing.
