    Bought a Pixel 6 after accidentally breaking my old Huawei P20Pro. Found the Pixel 6 to be EXTREMELY slow to charge and poor battery life compared to my 4 year old Huawei. I find it incredibly frustrating that the Pixel 6 is so temperamental with chargers considering Google don't even bother supplying a charger with their phones. Charging is switching of when charging and using the phone at the same time (not sure if this is a feature to preserve battery or prevent lithium overheating?).

    • @RandoTechInfo
      @RandoTechInfo  2 года назад +2

      Marcel: You are not the first person I have seen mention these issues. I personally haven't had any issues with charging except for the lack of speed but I've always used Google's own charger.
      As far as battery life, I know that has been a struggle for a lot of folks. Battery life for me has been comparable to my s21 Ultra. I wouldn't say it's great, but it's also not bad. Hopefully when Google is done rolling out all of their fixes for this phone that piece of things will improve.
      Thanks for sharing your thoughts and thanks for watching.

      I bought pixel 6 pro because of my Huawei mate 20 pro got broken. Now I am also totally disappointed with charging time. 3-4 hours taking for full charge in pixel. They have not provided OEM charger with phone. Huawei was great with small price and great features. Even after giving double price for pixel 6 pro, I feel like I've downgraded.

    Nothing makes me rage more than having to run around the house and getting my PD chargers just to get the Pixel to draw more than a 1 amp charge. Samsung will happily charge with a standard USB C to USB A brick. My house has a 3.1 amp USB A outlet however the Pixel will not draw anything over 1.8 amps from the outlet. It specifically looks for a PD charger inorder to ensure it doesn't draw too much power. This makes no sense since limiting amps drawn from a source doesn't actually hurt the charging brick. It just needs to turn the house AC into DC. When using a 65 watt charger, the Pixel will sometimes decide to only draw 2.4 amps of power despite the ability of the charger ability to provide more. The Pixel's charging experience is just frustrating to me and I often have my phone at or below 50 percent battery all the time because it takes so long to charge. When I'm working, I have it plugged into the usb C on my laptop the whole shift and it takes its sweet time getting up to 50 percent.

    Interesting... but isn't this like one of those road mileage tests? Charging with the phone off?I need to use my phone while it's charging as I can't be incommunicado for 2 hours non stop. So I leave it on and I use it a bit. Like this, it takes 3 hours to charge! I'm using a OnePlus 30W Warp charger with a USB 3 cable I picked up at Amazon. Are those by any chance the problem? This charger charged my OnePlus 7T in 1 hour.

    • @RandoTechInfo
      @RandoTechInfo  2 года назад

      I also have a OnePlus 7T and I can tell you the 30 watt charger that came with that phone will charge the pixel slower than Google's own 30 watt charger, so that can definitely be part of the problem, that said, even with the Google charger, you won't match the charge speeds you got with the OnePlus. It's just a slower charging phone in general.

      TAHER: it will never be able to take advantage of the 30 watt charger, that's a hardware issue. I do think the majority of the throttling is being done through software so I do think that is something Google could improve. Not really , there's nothing wrong with charging fast from 0 to 20 , because it's heat that hurts them. Short bursts are ok when fast charging , but only when needed . You're right about 80 to 100 though , mainly because charging to 100 is damaging to the battery . Lithium batteries don't like sitting at 100%

    I've got an Anker Atom 2 65 watt charger and Anker Flow 100 watt cable and charging my 6 Pro is a main. Tried all the options you did in the video and it just doesn't want to charge fast. They do need to let the user decide how fast they want their phones to charge regardless of battery health. I upgrade every two years so fast charging stuff doesn't bother me. They do need to fix it though in an update

    • @RandoTechInfo

      All usb-c cables support the same charging speeds. The only difference between them are data transfer speeds. So if you're only using for charging, it shouldn't matter. Hope that helps!

  • @kyledupont7711

    If you don't use a ppd charger your charging speed will be much slower than the video. With both of my PPD chargers it will hit 18 watts for a few mins but it mostly charges at 13 watts. Im guessing the actual google charger is how he is getting over 22 watts. Another thing, the battery heats up quickly at over 15 watts and it will slow charging down if it gets over 90 -95 degs. I have the AC blow on it while I charge or set it on an ice pack if I want it to charge as fast as it can. If anybody has any more tips let me know

    • @RandoTechInfo

      Most charge bricks use specific tech catered to the the phone they are meant to be used with, for example, my Pixel 6 won't charge AT ALL with my OnePlus charge brick. It's a weird situation and the Pixel is the most finicky phone I have owned when it comes to what bricks work with it. I'm half surprised the Samsung brick works at all, but you definitely won't get any fast charging with it.

It came with a charging cord only, so I've plugged it into my power board that has a USB C port, it has 44% charge and after an 1hr I went to check it and it has dropped to 41%. So I moved it to another power board with a USB C port and now it's dropped to 40%. Do I have to purchase a plug? I've not started it up or inserted my SIM as I'm not ready yet to transfer over from my old phone. Is this the issue do you think? Cheers, and thanks

    • @RandoTechInfo
      @RandoTechInfo  2 года назад +1

      I don't know what kind of power output your boards have but my guess is they just aren't putting out enough juice. Google's own charge brick will probably give you optimal results but any 15W brick (or higher) should get you up and going. Thanks for watching!

    • @kyledupont7711
      @kyledupont7711 Год назад

      You need a PPD charger like an anker Nano if you want decent charging speeds and that is probably still slower than the google charger, my fastest speed is 18 watts. With a normal USB C charger it get 7 watts max
