The Toyota lacks dual zone climate, more hard touch surfaces, a smallish center stack, a barely unusable rear seat. Reason the tailgate is heavier on the frontier is there is no aluminum. At high way speeds the hood will remain calm and not vibrate like the yota. Frontier also has hood struts whereas the yota no. Frontier's frame is solid with uniform strength. Yota thinned out the frame in areas (hello rust 2.0). Frontier has dedicated external radiator intercooler. Yota does not meaning they can overheat when under load. Frontier has frame mounted bump stops. Nope to yota with the cheesy internal ones with weak aluminum top hats that can blow up. 9 speed daimler benz on fronty no reported issues. 8 speed on yota can literally grenade. Always when I see these two side by side the Frontier is a much better package overall and the Nissan looks more expensive over the hard plastic yota. Only fault I see with the Nissan is the back up camera. They continue to use 360P resolution. Nissan really needs to update that.

What happened to Nissan’s 4L v6 ? I don’t think I’d want to be trying the 3.8 Nissan, until they’ll have substantial amount of trucks with 300+k miles on the road.

I always go with nissan midsized truck/suv. Can't afford to pay toyoTAX because im cheap. Here in canada even used toyotax with high mileage and rust the asking price is 2-3x compare to honda or nissan.

    •I have a low mileage 2018 GMC Sierra 5.3L V8 with 16 City/22 Hwy MPG.
•The new midsize trucks (all of them) are 7 Years Newer and [at least theoretically] a smaller vehicle, smaller engine, and newer technology but MPG is only 17-19/22? That’s the best they can do these days? I would’ve expected better.
•I’m looking at, and considering, new vehicles because my GMC has been great but it’s out of warranty, but c’mon, big oil or someone must continue to have a big grip on these vehicles. I know they’re trucks so I’m not expecting world record gas mileage. I like the Frontier but I’m thinking I might go get a Miata @ 26/35 - gee whiz.

Somewhat comparable? The two models weren’t on par for a comparison review. You needed to have a Frontier Pro 4X for this to be viable.

These are not the trims that people want to see compared. Compare the Pro-4X to the TRD Off Road.

The 2023 3.5 with that horrible 6 speed has nothing over the 3.8 VQ motor and daimler benz 9 speed. Night and day better on the Nissan. Better interior and more room in back. Fully boxed frame on the Nissan whereas the 23 taco uses the weaker c channel that is more prone to rust. Some of that was fixed on the newer taco but they went away from frame mounted bump stops and no external trans intercooler. Transmissions are blowing up on the new taco. IMO, the new taco is the worst by far on the market at the current price points. Last decent taco was second gen but they could have massive rust issues. Only Yota worth a look is the current 4 runner or last gen GX 460 all day long.
