why not just make this a 2 door truck like the prerunner if they were going to make the backseats completely useless? I feel like toyota is moving away from what the Tacoma was supposed to be, in fact not just toyota all the brands that make smaller to mid sized trucks have just been up charging like crazy for these! How is a Maverick 40k, Colorado 40-50k, these tacomas 40-70k like what happened to this segment?
V6 did not pass new emission regulations. Greenhouse gas laws that dictate the elimination of naturally aspirated engines... All NA engines are on the chopping block sooner or later.......The time is coming....
I thoroughly enjoy your videos and driving segments. I enjoy the videos no matter what car it is. My concern is that now trucks or SUV’s that are coming out are getting a little out of reach for the working man with a family.
I like that digital dash much more than the 3rd gen tundra/Seqouia gauages. Also my mom's I-force max seqouia seems to switch out of electric mode pretty quickly with even just normal throttle application, however it will also use EV mode sometimes when cruising even up to 65mph or so.
I have mixed feelings on the new Tacoma. I love the new powertrain, drivetrain and how it feels on the road, but the new styling and lack of rear seat room kills it for me. I think these trucks look better fully paint matched. I was cross shopping a TRD-Offroad Tacoma with the new Tundra SR5 4x4 earlier this month and ended up going with the Tundra. It just feels like better value for the money.
I don't understand the focus on mpg in 60k+ vehicles. Is there someone out there that spends that money on a vehicle but also a few hundred extra per year in gas will bankrupt them?
actually yes and no. I need a truck for 20% of my year, the rest its my daily driver. Although yes I can afford the gas, i'd rather not pay gas for a truck that can not get 15mpg's.... It'd be cheaper to just get a second small car used and use that one for the rest of the year.
Just because you don't "understand" doesn't mean it isn't important. And if someone is planning to keep this for 10 years it is good to know. Only in America can people think "if everything isn't done for me then it has no value".
So you can get a 6.2 or a diesel in a 1500 chevy but only one gets 25 mpg. Have you ever owned a construction company and paid for fuel costs? Yes people actually do think about fuel costs. Stop being so ignorant son
Great video, but TopherDrives please add additional light when doing interior reviews on overcast days. I couldn't see any of the front seat shock details during your review.
@@Brian-og4uu I understand inflation, in that Civics and Corollas are now $30k cars. The outrageous price tag is in part inflation, and in part profit taking by the manufacturers based on demand. While the normal TRD offroad tacoma w/o hybrid is a good buy in terms of value per features. This is just stupid and ridiculous, in Canada this and the trail hunter are $80+k in my province with tax a stock no accessory comes to with tax $98,902.88 ($92k for pro) for a vehicle with no back seat space... not even storage since its been deleted for batteries... I like Toyota, but I don’t know what they were thinking with this. Way too expensive and gimmicky just to not have useable backseats and questionable build quality. I’d take a Frontier or Ranger Raptor all day.
I love how these look but man, why does no one make something like this but with a single cab and longer bed? Like the old GMC Syclone or S10. I'm not even a truck guy but I'd consider one, if they made it in that spec.

they really fucked up on back seat room. otherwise bravo, truck rules.
And the automatic transmission is completely junk, already recalled all of them

Falken wildpeaks have great wet traction. Especially if you run the rears around 32 psi.
Tacoma should've kept v6, added a turbo with that new 8 speed. The tailgate HUGE trd logo, big Back back seats, and hood accent is silly
Agree

It seems way more refined inside and out than the GM trucks. I think Toyota did a good job here.
