Very nice video. So much different than when I flew British Caledonian from the States to Gatwick in the late 70s on a very cramped 707. That was back when smoking was allowed, and I spent 9 hours breathing that stuff.
Thankfully the days of smoking are gone, though the days of cheap tickets would be welcome back (even though they were mostly before my time). Yet they still have small/mini cigarette ash trays in the bathrooms
@@AKMaxFlightsTravel They still have these in-case a passenger does smoke onboard the aircraft. They need somewhere to safely dispose of a cigarette during flight.. obviously followed by the subsequent landing and arrest of said passenger lol.
Travelled on BA 777 with the new configuration, ridiculous amount of leg room and seat pitch, 9 hours squashed in like sardines, seat in front reclined throughout the whole flight ... never again, came back with AA and so much better...
During the year BA does 2x daily to Toronto from LHR one flight is with the A350-1000 and the other varies between a 777 or a 787 and in the summer the extra flights from LGW are added
Its quite often threatened that ba might move out of gatwick and its been done several times before starting in the 50's and i have witnessed this before and i used to live near the airport even before the airport was built, well the main airport wich was a racecourse before development in to the 1958 airpirt as we know it as the 1936 on e was considered inadequate for the adva cing growth of aviation as i say back then in around 58 ba never felt quite settled there, and it seems that not all are happy with gatwicks location for some reason, i suppose bieng south of london whereas heathrow is really in london now so many u,s airlines have left gatwick over the years again perhaps due to its location!
Going to punta cana in June from Gatwick via this 777,well hopefully who knows.going with tui.to be honest its a shame its not one of their own flights as the 787 i flew with them to cancun looks alot less cramped

I dislike the 10 abreast 777 economy seating. It hurts me to see that even British Airways, my childhood favorite, have become greedy by adding another seat per row
Jay Deshpande Many airlines now prioritise profit over comfort. But if doing this allows them to sell tickets at lower prices then I guess it’s not totally a bad thing. I’d be happy to be in a slightly narrower space and pay a low price
AviationAdam but it does come with many inconveniences. I wish airlines could do something like Singapore Airlines who are still profitable despite the increased amount of passenger comfort.
Nice video...Im due to fly to YYZ this september 2020...Isnt this one of their oldest 777-200 service from gatwick...Was it with leather or cloth seats?
Doesn’t bother me at all, never has. Whenever I travel long haul now (or even short haul) I often try and get a seat with a wall behind me. Much more privacy (nobody can see me filming from behind) and you can recline without annoying anybody. Best economy class seats on the plane for me by far, whether it be just behind the wing or right at the back of the plane. On a widebody you often get a fantastic wing view when in one of those seats. Very rarely is the recline limited, but I would never normally recline if somebody is behind me anyway. I don’t understand why people don’t like being in front of the toilet? I think it’s great. Not as far to walk to get to the toilet either. I certainly don’t care about an occasional toilet flush every few minutes, which often you barely notice and can barely hear over the engines anyway. The privacy, great wing view and freedom to recline far outweighs anything which people may perceive as being negative being close to a toilet.
I was on a non stop flight from Heathrow to L.A once that landed in Winnipeg to let a sick person get to hospital. Only time I've been to Canada, if that counts?
For that trip we booked flights from Gatwick to Toronto, returning New York to Heathrow a few weeks later. The total trip was about £335 each for standard economy (hold baggage included), booked directly with BA. It would be cheaper if you use basic economy (which is what I use when travelling alone). Prices can fluctuate massively depending on what time of year you go and how far in advance you book etc, but can range from the high £200s all the way to well over £500 (assuming you fly BA on a return trip from London to Toronto in basic economy). It’s often cheaper to fly from LGW than LHR. These prices are similar for some other North American destinations. The more competition on a given route however, generally the lower the price (eg SFO, LAX, JFK, BOS)
Yes Very Good Trip Report Of British Airways From London (UK) England to Toronto
Very good report so good to see BA have upgraded their LGW based aircraft as they were really showing their age. Thanks for sharing
I’ve travelled british airways in december from New Delhi to Toronto it was a wonderful flight

LGW to YYZ are now a thing of the past for BA. Only AT has kept the route.
I enjoyed this. Flying economy on a refurbed 777 in a few week to USA.
did you make the trip Mark?
A C ah. Nope. BA provided a full refund. I will travel in the future once it is safe to do so.
Boeings new hanger is astonishing! Going there soon 😁
Connor Nixon I’m going to the Everett factory near Seattle in May, looking forward to that
I’m a bit late to the release of the video but the video is really nice, thanks 😁
It's a shame they felt they had to apologise so much for something any reasonable human should understand takes precedence.
Awesome I never being to Toronto, nice flight
Really hope BA don’t quit Gatwick.

great review, loved watching. keep up the good work
How tall are you , ive got a long haul to nyc soon , im 6.3 . Leg room didn’t look great :/
Have flown on this very plaane G-ymmc from Bangkok to Heatheow in 2016.
surprisingly fast take-off!
I believe the only North American destinations served by BA from LGW are YYZ, JFK, LAS, MCO, TPA and BDA as well as several in the Caribbean
Used to be to smaller places in the Eastern part of the us, now to the most pleasant destinations
YYZ, and JFK flights had moved to Heathrow

Which London airport do you prefer, Gatwick or Heathrow?
The same aircraft G-YMMC goes to Mauritius very often.

calvin kline No it’s one of the most recent actually, started service in summer 2018. They were fabric seats but they were very new
None of their long haul fleet have leather.
What was wrong with the passenger before take off
Did the lavatory being so close bothered you at all?

What a difference a month makes!
How tall are you? Legroom looks pretty bad!
6’2”
Any of us 6 feet or over can never really "catch a break" with legroom
@@AKMaxFlightsTravel me over here being 6ft 5, I have a flight in 11 days with British airways 777
New sub here 👍
What exactly happened to the sick passenger?
I’m not sure, just got offloaded I suppose. Didn’t hear what happened to them
