@@SMASHTIME i reload and caponents are up exponentially, however powder now back in stock is at reasonable prices for the moment. Primers when i find them are around 9 cents each. Projectiles 9 cents brass reused and i get 1000 to 1200 rnds per lb of powder for 9mm and 45 acp.

i've been to almost all Scheel's and Mill's Fleet Farm and they're fully stocked. Just raised their prices by a about $1. I've got quite a bit of 9mm but 5.56 and .223 are still a little too pricey. Once I move out of IL, I'll be buying on-line.
Fleet Farms here in SE Wisconsin are stacked deep w ammo. Prices are reasonable and Fleet Farm regularly has 10% discounts making it a little easier to build up my inventory.
I don't have a camp stove yet but i have grates I can put in a fireplace or fire pit also have a bbq grill you can use wood or charcoal when you don't have propane
Box stores like Academy and Cabela's have absurd ammo prices. Do yourself a favor and get with a friend or two and order a 1,000 rounds at a time. If you can't afford to buy bulk then just get a box or two whenever you can local, a little at a time adds up.
I was just out this afternoon, Central Iowa Fleet Farm. They had full shelves. The only thing I didn't see was 410 slugs. 22LR from 7.5 cents a round to 12 cents a round. 9mm 30 cents a round to buck 20 a round for HP. 223/556 70 cents to a buck each. I didn't check the prices, but saw 243, 308, 270, 6.5 creedmoor, all kinds of 12 gauge, a bunch of 20 gauge. But I still have powder, primers and tooling, so I'm handrolling for much less. I didn't see any shotshell wads.

Higher priced ammo will sit on the shelf for a while to come...even longer if/when restocked...seems like 'panic buying' is still on the edge, as a lot of folks have stocked up a little better than 3 years ago...we ourselves are fair to good, I buy a box as I can afford it, always looking for the best deal...we have several big box and local gun shops to check within our area, multiple calibers to keep fed, and often end up purchasing from several stores on an ammo run (and ammo runs have become less frequent recently)...buy as you can, but it okay to eat and pay bills, too...

My Academy looks about the same. If you don't mind PMC you can go to prepper gun shop and get A 1,000 round case of X-TAC 5.56 55gr for $475 with free shipping. 62gr green tip $485 with free shipping. I bought three cases of the green tip. 7.62X39 is getting scarce. I have a pretty good stock, but went ahead and ordered a couple of cases from sgammo. Water well, propane, wood for burning, food - including egg laying chickens and a pond out back stocked with bluegill, bass and catfish. I never feel prepared, but figure if SHTF I'll get by.

With regards to camp stoves, Academy sells an adapter that allows you to use the standard tanks.. buying the little tanks is a waste, no body can/will refill them
I know here in PA when hunting season is over they don't stock a lot because they will sit on it all summer. They will be starting with fishing gear and then around Memorial Day it will be camping stuff.

ammo is good barterin products to trade for food etc, you can coo over an open fire but you need fuel do you have firewood, you can recycle pallets into firewood be sure not chemically treated wood most is not

It’s not a shortage it’s a buying spree it’s not that they are not stocking the shelves it’s that the shelves are getting whipped daily

Dude, that’s a Walmart!? Should be thanking your lucky stars. You can’t walk into a store in Tucson, Arizona, and buy ammo in that quantity off of the shelf for those prices.
You just went at a bad time. I’ve been to multiple academy and they had anything you wanted. Not saying best prices but it was there if you needed it.

I don’t know for sure, but I believe gun and ammo sales in cities whos districts are in the control of democrats (nation wide) have deliberately higher prices than cities and towns that don’t have democrat influences. What’s Houston’s voting districts made up of….. Shelia Jackson Lee, Al Green and rino Crenshaw?
I say that because I’ve bought from Kirammo in Texas on line and they had pretty decent prices (Norma 45acp- 19.99 50rds- Norma 380-50rds 13.95) as long as I had it sent to an out of state address and no tax.
I went the other day to get some hst federal had only 1 box of 124 out of like 30 boxes of 147 😅
