Thank you so much Mr Fowler. I managed to replace my Siamp inlet valve following your great instructions. 4 days on and still no leaks and seems to be working fine.. only problem I had was the fibre washer that was supplied didn’t fit my pipe connector but luckily I had one that did. Great video not sure I would have managed without it..👍
Thank you so much Mr Fowler for making such a super, instructive, informative and detailed video! This has enabled me to fix our bust bog with confidence and at a total cost of less than £18 (for the Siamp 99T from local plumber merchant). For me the hardest bit was working out how to remove the surrounding fascia to our toilet. Rest was easy peasy thanks to your video and great commentary. Thank you!
Nice vid. Much easier to replace the washer than to replace it all. Mine was so so difficult to remove due to the design of my toilet . At the very top of the inlet valve there is another washer that’s worth a mention . I also put the old rubber grommet underneath as well, so two rubber grommets used
Yeah its definitely easier to replace the rubber diaphragm than replacing the inlet but i couldn't get one to match. Thanks for your comment and please consider subscribing to help me reach my 50k subscriber goal 🤩
That's great to hear. Just take your time, and everything should be fine. When you come to turn the water on, just do it slowly and keep checking for leaks.
great video. ive just replaced the valve on mine. made sure i levelled up the little plastic markers but now it screams and pressure builds up and it shuts off the water! ive loosened off the plastic screw for now but its really loose to stop the noise. i definitely have the right valve.
Thank you so much for your help, I was able to change the washer that you mentioned right at the start of the video, which sorted out the very slow water flow problem. Thanks for being so generous with your knowledge!
5 30 am, half asleep, flushed toilet and now won't stop trying to up. Water constantly flowing in the toilet. 6am I've just watched your video! Wish me luck! Woman here 😂
@@FixitwithFowler thank you 🙏 I was thinking if it was the push down buttons it would just be them that didn't work, but would have no effect on water cistern not filling up. I'll take a pic of inside and take to local DIY shop for replacement. Fingers 🤞
Hi, it's easy to do, but just take your time and take a photo of the inside of the toilet before you start. That way if anything goes wrong you will have something to refer back to.
Really helpful video, just replaced mine and I feel like I’ve earned a new #dadskill badge. I had no disasters with water and no mess after following this. Toilet is super quiet on the refill and flushes like a dream. I went for the Flomasta from screwfix as it was reasonably priced and had the brass thread.
Hi . That was a really helpful video may I ask if the water is going into the cistern but not filling up the bowl would the replacement of this part fix the problem do u know please ? .. thank you so much for your time God bless 🙏
Hi! Thank you for this! I've managed to fix mine (only the rubber bit needed replaced) but I'm a bit confused where the water is actually coming out. Any chance you could explain? I get paranoid unless I fully understand how something works 😅
Hi, the diaphragm (the rubber bit) basically acts like a seal that opens and closes. Sometimes, these can become perished or dirty, meaning they dont work properly.
this morning my toilet wouldn’t flush both the filler has stopped filling the cistern and the flush also leaks at the base so any water slowly leaks into the pan. From this video I now know what to do to solve the filling process.
today i bought the rubber washers for both the flush and the filler £7. The flush seems to have worked but the float seems to jam before it gets to the top of its movement which doesnt stop the flow . This continues to over flow. When I move the float by hand there seems to be nothing stopping it moving. yet when there’s water involved it jams. most odd.
@rockerjim8045 have you double checked that you have reassembled the filler correctly? It may need some more adjustment or the new rubber might be catching
Hi, yes, in the top of the outlet, there is a rubber diaphragm/washer in the top near where the water comes out. You could unscrew it and check it is not blocked. Just make sure you turn the water off first!!!
We have a Siamp toilet suite. A small grey plastic "plug" that controls the outlet flow, keeps popping out of the top of the inlet when the cistern is filling. When that happens the water sprays up, hits the lid causing it to leak down the outside of the cistern. We've turned down the water pressure to stop this but the cistern now takes ages to fill. Can it be replaced or do we need to replace the whole inlet unit? Hope you can help.
@@FixitwithFowler Thank you so much for your reply. It's a standard Siamp toilet. Not sure of the model as we've just purchased the house. We can easily access the inside of the cistern. Thanks Kara

Have you tried closing the isolation valve on the outside of the toilet slightly? That will reduce the flow/pressure inside the fill unit.
@@FixitwithFowler thanks for replying and for the tip. for some reason, it seemed to sort itself out.

Yeah thats a good idea. If you find a plumbers merchant/wholesalers, they are normally really helpful.
Really clear explanation. Many thanks. I am confident to have a go now.

Hello
Thanks for the tips - mine is not filling up.. Can I manually fill the tank for use until plumber gets here?
Yes you can fill the system manually. Just be careful when pouring the water in.
Yes of course you can, don't overfill it though
Water is coming out off mine but it's coming out asif it's going through a needle, any tips?

Is the cistern concealed in a cupboard or is it a standard toilet?

@barkaparka hi, if you google siamp toilet spares then there are loads of different fittings available to save you replacing the toilet!
❤❤❤
Where you get them tools? Never knew you owned any
Ha ha, i never needed any 😉
How do you know if its this problem? With mine, when it is trying to fill up, the water is just running into the toilet bowl?
Hi, it could be the filler unit, but it sounds like it's the flush unit.
@Fix it with Fowler okay, I thought that, so I have just purchased a fluidmaster dual bottom flush valve, so I'm hoping that fits 😅
Its normal for the seal on the plunger of the flush unit to distort and that can cause the toilet to run continuously

Hi, unfortunately without seeing it i couldnt say
Tell us how not to scratch the toilet seat.
What do you mean?
All these new mechs are dog shit, give me a floating ball any day
They are overcomplicated for what they are!
@@FixitwithFowler I'm having this issue, and because the missus wanted the closed back toilet , looks like I have to get someone in
@seancaseo84 can you not get access to it?
@@FixitwithFowler I think the whole unit has to come off the wall to get to the point to turn the water off
@seancaseo84 that's terrible 😕. It must be a bad design. I've not had to work on one of those.
