I'm writing here as a female senior citizen, living in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains. When I got home from work today, I learned that one of my toilets wasn't filling properly. As one who prefers to save time and money by doing things myself, I did some quick reading, watched your video, then headed to the hardware store. It turned out that I knew more about what I needed than did the salesperson. Driving home with the new fill valve, I realized I had forgotten to cook some brown rice yesterday, so I started the rice cooking before heading into the bathroom to fix my toilet. Following your fabulous instructions, I successfully replaced the fill valve AND cleaned up, all in less time than it took the brown rice to cook. Thanks for this clear, informative video that saved me time, money, and frustration, and gave me some self-confidence!

Omfg....THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! My toilet hasn’t been able to be flushed normally in probably close to a year but I was so hesitant to try to fix it bc it took me so frickin long when I replaced the innards years ago. I’ve been having the Fluidmaster (how ironic that was) repair kit sitting in my bathroom for months. So after damn near throwing my back out by filling the tank with buckets of water by hand in order to flush, I decided to search handy dandy RUclips for help. And your video was the first to pop up. I literally had this thing completely done in less than half an hour. YOU ARE A LIFESAVER!!! Without guys like you posting these how to videos for girls such as myself, I’d have no clue how to really repair anything. I’d pledge you my first born son but he’s 16 already so I don’t think you really want him. 😜. Please continue posting videos so the clueless of the world, such as myself, can regain living a normal bathroom life.

0:14 Thanks for posting this. That's the cleanest toilet I've ever seen. As far as those hard water stains in the tank go, that's normal. If you're really worried about it, just pour a cup of bleach in there and let it sit for half an hour or so. Obviously, just be sure to flush it through a few times before letting anyone use it. You know, because of the after-splash. You don't want anyone to get bleach burns on their bottoms. 1:05 Anyway, I went to the local hardware store this morning and got that exact same fill valve you showed. I took it home and put it in, no problem. Total cost: $9.98. Actual labor time: 5 minutes. Now I can poop again without having to flush with a bucket.

I don't consider myself very good at fixing things, so when the toilet tank stopped refilling I automatically called the plumber. They gave me an estimate of $300 to fix it. No way was I paying that to replace a $7 part. I picked up the same one in your video from Home Depot and had it replaced in a few minutes. Tank is refilling perfectly now and no more constant running noise. Thanks for the clear, easy instructions!

For people doing this at home by themselves, please note that when I did this, the source supply pipe valve was stuck in the older flush valve which caused the supply pipe to leak as soon as I started the main. I have no idea what I'm doing but I went to Home Depot, bought what you said and followed your instructions. Well my noisy ass toilet that never stopped running is now fixed and operating like a beauty. The tank fills up so quickly and then just beautiful dead silence.
One piece of advice for anyone who might encounter the same problem as me. The little gasket thing on the outside of the toilet that holds in the old fill valve was stuck on there with what seemed like glue. After an hour of cursing and destroying my knuckles, I tried chiseling it with a switch blade and I finally broke it. I then ripped the old dill valve out of the toilet and just snapped it. Good luck.
Great video. Subscribed. Time to take a big ol' shlt to see how this baby really runs.

Really appreciate the tutorial. This saved me quite a bit of money by doing it myself. Just one correction though, to loosen any connections - going to the left is counter clockwise not clockwise.

Thank you for this exceptionally clear video! I followed it step by step and was able to change my toilet’s filler valve all by myself! My husband was so impressed - he said I looked so confident doing it that he thought I had secretly taken some plumbing classes! The toilet is now filling completely normally, and I fixed it for $14.89. Thank you thank you! I will be sure to subscribe for more awesome tips!

Thank you so much for the clear step by step video and instructions...they worked! My husband and I are not handy but got tired of paying repair people for simple things. I feel very accomplished. The only difference was we needed to use pliers to take off the plastic nut. Other than that I could've done it all myself! God bless you keep making videos.😊

Thank you sooo much! Simple and easy to follow. Did exactly what you said and it worked. I’m so glad I didn’t have to call a plumber to fix something that took me less than 15 minutes to do and cost less than 7 bucks ($6.95 at Home Depot). Toilet is flushing perfectly now.

another problem might be that one of the two hooks on the rubber seal, that connects to the bottom of the white filling tube, might be unhooked. mine wasnt filling past the rubber flap and it took me embarrassingly long to realise the problem. if thats the case just press down till it hooks. great video, really narrowed down my options!!
