Thank you, that little tip to get the rubber aligned at the top has made all the difference, now at last the water has shut off....and for good as I was about to call out a plumber...!!
Had watched other videos which only explained in part, this video helped me finally solve my problem with water continuing to run and it was down to not lining up the marks when replacing the washer! Thanks so much! Saved me paying out ££££s for what was a simple fix!
GENTLEMAN, you are a lifesaver 🙇🏻🙇🏻🙇🏻. You not only explain the solution step by step, but you also point out troubleshooting solutions at the same time. You saved me a massive headache and money. Please keep doing these videos. You are a top RUclipsr 🎉✌️✌️
You saved my day, thank you so much! Basically the water tank was running constantly so I bought a spare part , when I got home I realised that was the wrong part, and was already Saturday, all shops are shut, on Sunday are not working, and the most issue is that I got one valve for both water tank and the bathroom sink, so shutting the water tank pipe valve would mean shutting the entire water in my bathroom. Found that the washer had some debris cleared it and it worked! Thank u so much sir! 🙏
Thanks so much for this, I did exactly the same as you. I replaced the rubber fitted everything back together and yes it still leaked. There are 2 notches to align inner and outer. If you don’t get them both aligned properly then it will still leak. Thanks again.
Thank you for taking the time to post this. It worked a charm! (after I managed to line up the valve notches properly. Glad I wasn't on hourly rates...)
Thanks for vid and thanks for leaving the section in that showed you had to try again … that helped me a lot because I had exactly the same problem and realised the washer wasn’t quite seated properly … well done v helpful … and also the toilet internal parts were identical … plus helpful Amazon link page cheers dave
Amazing big man. Thankyou. Short trip to screwfix and all sorted. You should set up 'buy me a coffee' as it's always good to give a small bit of cash for cracking advice.
Thank you, this was so helpful. I have 1 question though; i twisted the nob to make the float lower, however that doesnt seem to stop the water. It continues to fill the cistern until approx 5ml below the overflow pipe. Any tips or should i just apply the 'dont fix whats not broken' addage?
What is the top bit of the filler value, the little white thing that drops into the hole when the toilet stops filling (see it drops at 7.51 in this vid). This is what won't drop properly on my toilet. Any idea how to fix? Is it another rubber seal or similar?
Hi, Thank you so much for this video. My cistern was taking ages to fill up. Just check and the washer was in a bad way. Just ordered another one. I have noticed as well that there was also a constant flow of water running into the bowl - would this be a related problem or it is something different? If so, what would be the solution? Would I have to change the rubber or a part at the bottom too?
I’ve changed the rubber but it’s still running after the cistern is full but it stops after about 30-40 seconds ? It does fill up fast now and not slow.
I replaced the rubber, its all in correctly and put it in and out multiple times now but its still overfkowing no matter how many times i take it out and adjust it. Losing the will to live!
Mine was filling very very slowly I replaced the rubber seal and now it won't stop filling 😂 help! Fitted old one and was slowly filling so at least I knew it wasn't the actual whole unit. Finally after many attempts I got it to work!
I literally had this exact same problem only a few days ago. Had the diaphragm replaced and then it started overfilling. The issue for mine was the top bit. If you look at the bit where there's a small hole and what looks like a rubber flange, press your finger down on the plastic part in the center of the hole. If it stops overfilling then you have the same issue I did. I fixed it by placing 3 very small washers under the lip of the white hole so it held the flange and the little plastic bit down, essentially simulating constant pressure downwards, and it works now!
Please clarify what you did ‘wrong’ as I clearly have? I have done it twice now, taking care to match the notches & fail to see what the issue is why it won’t stop filling/shut off
Doing mine. It's easier if you take the plastic arm away from the round plastic thread. When you go to put the thread back on you can align the notch perfectly and the plastic arm doesn't get in the way.
Not mentioned in these videos is there is a rubber inset in the lever arm circa 6mm dia. Not easy to see as white the same as the lever. This can be indented to such an extent it cannot form an air tight seal to the little hole in the end of the plastic piece he took out. The rubber can be pushed out from the rear turned round and reinserted to expose a fresh smooth surface. I replaced the sealed in the video but still had a problem. Turned round the seal in the lever arm solved the problem.
Im having the same problem, I do not see a rubber inset at all on the lever arm and cant find the part at all? I replaced the seal as in the vid (flow valve) but water is still jetting out of the little hole in the lever arm? And the toilet does not stop filling
Having this problem too. But the thing you unscrewed by hand on the left is tight and win't budge. Don't want to force it incase i break it. Any ideas? Please and thank you
@@megc18 there usually 2 nuts underneath that bolt it to the bottom part of the toilet. Undo those and undo the water pipe and the top part should lift off. Then there’s a big plastic nut holding the middle part on. There might be some crews holding it to the wall as well.
@pdunleavy1982 I appreciate the reply mate. I can't do that though, I have alot of hidden things on the toilet. Cause it's fairly new most of the pipework ect is hidden. Can't even isolate the toilet. Need to turn off the water for the whole house when trying to sort it. Thanks though
@pdunleavy1982 I'm sure I can get that flush valve out by unclipping it or something but I'm far too cautious I break it. Yeah the hidden features are a nightmare
Hi there, we’ve got a similar cistern as in this video. The cylinder in the middle bit won’t slide down enough to close the gap and stop the water from running. Have you any tips on fixing this?

It worked great for about a week but now the water won’t stop running even when the cistern is full. I can’t get a plumber to come out to look at it. Do you have any ideas what it might be? this stopped it for about a day, but now after i flush it, it stops but then keeps trickling when the water hits the right level again. i'd had to turn the isolation switch just to get some sleep tonight. everything's aligned properly. any tips?

I changed my Diaphragm Washer but still finding the water still flowing slightly in the basin which makes the system every so often fill back up which makes a noise like there's a air block
Hi, I've followed your video and it's almost perfect but there's now a slight trickle of water into the bowl, what am I doing wrong or is it another issue?
Replaced mine but it’s still not shutting off the fill properly, I think I need to replace the filling mechanism (probably the wrong terminology there)
@ tried refitting a few times, original diaphragm didn’t appear damaged either (was only a few years old) but same behaviour with both. Essentially the flow won’t cut off even if you manually simulate the water level, I think something inside the inlet valve is knackered, might replace this weekend seems easy enough.
I've had mine to bits the same. The rubber washer is fine and it still F**** leaks. Worst design ever for a cistern. I have 2 of these in my house and they are both shite. Both of them keep playing up and running water. Bring back the metal valves with plastic float. Rarely was there a problem with those. These crappy plastic fittings don't work 5 min without having to fiddle with them!
