To those struggling with the grass blade problem at 17:25, try going to your grass blade model that you made at the beginning and properly set its origin by right clicking -> set origin -> Geometry to origin and make sure it is pointing at the Y-axis. Hope this helps
For those of you who couldn't make the grass stand up even after properly aligning it, try changing the orientation to Global Z instead of normal. Wouldn't be as realistic but it grows in Z direction. Also, my grass is half-sunken inside the ground for some reason so if anyone has a solution for that.... Awesome tutorial btw!! I learned a lot about skin modifier and the particle system. Thank you!
OMG, thanks so much for this! I followed along and it was tremendously instructive, and the first time I pull off a tree. I'd kept away from them thinking they'd be a pain, but this way of doing it is a blast, thank you so much!
Thanks for the commentary tutorial! I used the grass particle method to make cartoon raindrops of an "illusionary exterior" mesh for my own projects! Now I think I could use some info on how to make cartoon raindrop particle effects for a 3D diorama, if you have the knowledge.
The second I turned on the particle thing, my frame rate sinked to the bottom of the earth, lol. But it was a really nice and easy technic for making a tree full of leafs, Thank you so much!
Bro thank you so much I was really struck with the scaling of skin modifier and only today I learnt that its ctrl+A ..... it's really helpful ..thanks🤟🤟😄
@@polygonrunway I am still not good enough to get your amazing lighting but I hope I will do better next time. Still learn a lot from this tutorial as usual! i.imgur.com/QfUtOsy.png
Thanks so much, this is great! My goal is to be able to make some soothing little scenes in Blender as a sort of after work relaxation. Your videos are perfect for both instructions and inspiration! I have been working through some tutorials like the infamous donut and the CGFasttrack Beginners course, and they where great to learn all the basics but they were also a bit overwhelming. These short projects are super cool to have a nice Blender-jam that doesn't get exhausting and still gives a cool result. So again, thanks a lot, amazing content!
How were you able to color all the rocks at the same time without joining them together? That is the only part of this tutorial I haven't been able to figure out. Either way this is hands down one of the best tutorials I have ever watched from blender. You and Grant Abitt are my 2 fav blender creators cause your work is flawless and you tutorials are so nice to follow
quick question: how do you get the tool option bar on the bottom left. For instance, at 9:51 you see it right above the timeline with "Move"... For some tools it's there for me, for others it isn't. It's nice to have when you want to see the numbers that you scaled something to.
Answered my own question. The Frame Start, End option was causing the problem. If you press play by tapping the space bar you'll see all the orbs fall off. Move the frame slider to zero. (As in the beginning of the movie). Down at the bottom.
amazing tutorial, and quick question, how do i get my grass to face the right way, coz they always seem to by lying on their sides when i apply the particle system
Oh and by the way what’s that blue background? How does the blue light reach the scene? And difference between that and a blue area light? Interesting effect!
It's the scene world light and it affects the whole scene from every angle, so you can use it to fill the darker parts and shadows of your scene with some ambient color and blend everything with a slight tint
Couple of questions: what did you do when you used Shift bracket? Also why did you recalculate normals on the fence? Why would they have wrong normals? Oh and by the way, is it by positioning the particles along the Y axis that you can make them face properly when you put the particle system? Thanks for the tutorial!
shift bracket is to select the children of the parent object. I recalculate normals every time, because sometimes I dont really pay attention in which way I'm extruding the face and if you go in the negative direction, you have normals inside out :) And yes, it's in the Y direction for that reason :)
I love that you do commentaries, because now I can pretend that Arnold Schwarzenegger is teaching me Blender :D
This comment made me watch the tutorial on a whole new level. Thank you.

The rocks are linked duplicates, that's why if you add material on one, the others get updated too. You can linked duplicate with alt+D

It should just appear if you use some tool and then you can tweak it
At 12:34 when you a create a new material, leaves not appear on the tree. it's been 30 minutes that im trying to understand why 😭😂
The ico sphere has a transparent material and leaf material needs to go on a leaf particle (that single object)

17:25 how you make your grass to go straight up, mine went every directions, but not up?
It has to be aligned on Y axis in the edit mode
after that use scale randomness (just quick reminder advice not for staighthening grasses)
amazing tutorial, and quick question, how do i get my grass to face the right way, coz they always seem to by lying on their sides when i apply the particle system
you need to have the grass blades pointing in the Y direction in the edit mode. I talk about it in the video :)
12:26 dude, on my settings section there's no a blend mode options, is there another way to solve this?
Did you find a solution?
I need help, my grass is laing sideways when i set grass blade as particle at 17:22 can someone help
Rotate the leaf in Edit mode
i have the same problem here

Polygon Runway that is pretty creative thanks. So in effect it works as a light? Not just a regular plane?
Another fantastic tutorial! Thanks. Is there any way to stop grasses cutting through the rocks?
Easiest is probably just to weight paint them away
@@polygonrunway That must be true. I was just wondering if there are other ways like restrictions or collision detection. Thank you!

When I go to cycles, in the rendering mode, my ground mesh is very dark on the sides, I can't find help anywhere :(
