THE SOUND OF THE PLATES IS FILLING ME WITH THE RAGE OF A THOUSAND SUNS
Is that a sunmy in philadelphia reference?
You must be a god... a Golden god.
“Thousand winds
The wrong fish ...
Hahaha
The clanking of those plates and silverware... OMG!! 🤬
It's so passive aggressive..lol
*intensifies with each fit of rage*
Just one of the most annoying sounds on the planet. The person who invented paper plates is a God! The second most annoying sound is that of some douche trying too retrieve 10 drops of liquid from a paper drinking container with a straw!

@@puzzlefactory6447 YES! Or another is a dog licking himself 😠
That "SHUT UP YOU DRUNKEN WITCH" came out of absolutely nowhere 😂
The way the husband casually splits his daughter’s meal between him and his wife implies that this is often how the family dinners end. Perfect addition to the sketch
He gave her the carrots and kept all the chicken for himself.
@@PaulStregevsky
Those Mini-Carrots are her Favorite.
Something tells me they do this on purpose so they could get her food.
He didn't share the meat with her he only gave her vegetables did you notice that too lol
Looks good the food
"Did somebody take your keys?"
'Can I finish the story?"
lmao
Lubbylove89 With how quick he responded and the frustration in his voice, you knew this was going to be good lol
An example of passive aggressiveness lol
Will's extra long stare at Ana is priceless.
And the first instant replay goes to ...
Shout out to anyone who's had to sit through one of 'Dad's stories'.... Could use it in the military to break people
It disturbs me how realistic this is.
Camo Dude _You_ disturb me.
Barack, the family ok?
Camo Dude 🎢
Are you and Michelle okay buddy?
Help us.
The loud clanging of the silverware is such a perfect touch. Bravo to whomever came up with this. It's one of those things dysfunctional families do to try to alleviate tension.
That's the best touch to this skit that adds to it being so realistically hilarious...!
I thought for sure Will Farrell was going to jump all over the wife for doing it but only looked over in disgust.
It adds tension though. Because it’s so damn irritating.
Newfound respect for Sarah Michelle Gellar not breaking character as Will Ferrell does yet another iconic comedic turn.
Yeah, this is one of Sarah's first shows here, this is even before Buffy the vampire slayer. And Kathryn Hahn as the mother, this isn't the only time she appeared in something with Will Ferrell, she's Christine Applegate's friend in Anchor Man
That’s Ana Gasteyer. Kathrine Hahn was never on SNL.
Back when people actually acted on SNL instead of just breaking for laughs.
She knew when to get off the damn shed.
It's been 20 years since I first saw this and I still yell "I DRIVE A DODGE STRATUS" anytime I get into a silly shouting match with people. Or if I want to assert my dominance over a group of people having an argument of their own.
everytime I see a Dodge Stratus I yell the line
So how’s that working out for ya? 😄
Ima start doing this
P-O-Pie - I’ve been forced out of my village and now live amongst the animals in the local wood... I stand behind my decision.
If a conversation about whatever gets too intense between my brother and I at a holiday, one of us will yell this at the other to break the tension and move on. Works every time 😂
Ok how the hell they got actually footage of my family dinner
They spy on you....(just like i do)....btw that vase on your counter top is very pretty
@newswars-dotcom Assuming there are any families left?
@newswars-dotcom Well, no, I don't date.
@Nidhi why not?
Im just here to be honored to be the #400 like
I love when the husband splits the daughter's leftovers, he makes sure his wife gets all the vegetables and he all the meat. It's only a small detail but very observant.
Looks like they are used to doing that
Well she didn't eat. Just brought the fork to her mouth.
@@louwinters508 she had very minuscule bits of food on the fork.
Also funny how they go to being civil when their daughter leaves
Then they remembered they haven't fucked in a while.

I dont think anybody is lying dude this is not funny at all and thats why i never liked Will Farrell because he is not funny at all
Difference of opinions
@@claymack1109 I used to not like him either but Zoolander, Talladega Nights and Elf changed my mind.
I just really don't find it funny, rather disturbing or annoying instead. Maybe because i grew up in an Asian household and this kind of thing is just unreal or impossible to my experiences lmao.
YOU DON'T TALK TO ME LIKE THAT!!!!! I DRIVE A DODGE STRATUS!!!!!!
Whenever me and my husband are having an argument, one of us will yell out "I DRIVE A DODGE STRATUS!"
Liz Real Girl Beauty hilarious
Liz Real Girl Beauty 😂
I approve.
It’s also a running joke in my family since this came out in the nineties 😂
This is actually my family, add 2 more kids. I am going to use the Stratus line from now on each and every time, humor is what keeps me alive.
The moment it’s quiet and someone in the background just bursts out laughing and the whole crowd erupts is what I live for.
Haha that was HILARIOUS! The audience as a Whole, laughed at something that wasn't even on stage... You don't see(hear) that anymore
Ana Gastyer is another comedian that doesn’t get enough credit. She’s hilarious and a great actress

Man, they must have had microphones in the plates. That silverware banging away on the plates really made this skit.
Well, I was there. We added the sound in the montage.
I think they timed it, like they would bang 13 times, and then talk

I drove a Dodge Stratus once, but I sold it for drug money. True story.
My mom drove one and was similar to the lady, we hated her
Or a LeBaron

Yeah but this is part of the dysfunction: she allows it. Not only is the sketch funny but you can see how each character actually feeds into the dysfunction
I agree, she was an angel .
@@YungM.D. I totally miss the wife's culpability. Maybe it's all tied up with the accusation of drunkenness.
Can I just finish a damn story?
She obviously doesn't let him finish because she is so drunk.
Orrrrrrr..... is it because she is so nervous and intimidated by the power he clearly holds. I mean what with being a Division Manager, driving that sweet Dodge Stratus and doing 100 pushups so quickly.
The mom is mousey and doesn't seem obviously at fault for anything, but I think part of why she doesn't always talk back is out of a sense of guilt about things like alcoholism and lying (the couple's relationship kind of reminds me of the way my mom would lie to my dad).
Sarah Mitchell is such an underrated comedienne. She held her own with these two comedy giants.

Yup, I was 16, and just started driving...my dad's Dodge Stratus. He never yelled it out, but I don't think I went a single weekend over a 2 year span where I didn't yell it at my fiends when I was picking them up.
We used that line for months at work after this skit, lol
Yeah, he is. This is one of Will Ferral's earliest things, he only became first known in the mid 90s when this skit came out. And the daughter's Sarah Michelle Gellar, and the mother's Kathryn Hahn, this is one of their first things too

“I drive a dodge stratus!!”
This sketch is actually pretty accurate in how conversation and relationships work, or don't work in dysfunctional families. People are tense, take everything too personally, don't express their emotions well, etc. It exists.
I am from a fairly dysfunctional blended family, where we never had dinners together, only lunches on Sunday. And the lunches usually had no one talking, or very little awkward conversation at best. Everyone just quickly finished their meal and left. We just didn't click for some reason.

One thing that's helped me stop arguing with people: it's unprofessional. You can't really get away with that behavior in a work place. So you really have no business treating people like that when you're not at work either.
Obviously, work is a bunch of bullshit. But it kind of helps to deter yourself from joining in the argument. The better choice is to walk away and let things cool down. Then make amends if possible.
Personally though I think honesty fights should be more accepted in civilized society. Sometimes people really do deserve to get punched in the face. Like bullies for example.
