Ha ha, thanks. "rad!" is a great compliment for anything connected to the 80's! :P Anyways, glad to be of service. I gave a much fuller review of each of these, and more, here: ruclips.net/video/H8Kv63cj_n4/видео.html
Dude thank you so much for the amazing informative content. I love Jim Henson and heard about The Dark Crystal but didn’t have the guts to see it until this summer and...I falles in love with it. I just finished the prequel Netflix series and I have to say I am addicted. So I journey in Google and founded the books as comics and novels but...I wasn’t sure what was cannon and what not, what is important what are spoilers. Thanks to you now I now, so thank you! Keep up with the great work. Ps. One tip, I’m not a person to give my opinion but (lol) in my opinion I would help you to get a script of what you will say in a video so the viewer doesn’t get tangled, confused or uninterested on your great content. KEEP THE GOOD WORK DUDE!
Glad it was a help. Ya, most my other videos are scripted, and you can see why :D maybe one day I can redo this vid with all the newest stuff coming out. Appreciate the words that stay. :)
I accidentally read the first book by J.M. Lee thinking it was apart of the series. The first half was matching up, but the last half everything went downhill. I was soooooo confused until I figured out they’re not connected lol 😅 The show took quite a bit of characters from the book. Unless did the book take the characters from something else? I’m still a little confused lol
Thanks for the guide (and your channel), but now that the Netflix show has been seen, would you still put this in the same order? I haven't watched it yet, I was a little bit late, but I wanted to take in the whole experience, and I've just finished Shadows of the Dark Crystal which I got from the library. I've noticed though that show starts before the events in the book, which I only confirmed when Naia got to the castle and saw the state of the "servants". So, does the show overlap and go beyond the events of the 4 books, or do the books have the last word chronologically? So far, I'm having trouble finding the later 3 books - I might have to order them - and I want to know if it makes sense to just watch Age of Resistance - or maybe just a few episodes - in the meantime. I love Thra, and I'm trying to make it perfect. :) Thanks.
When the books were originally presented they called them prequels to the Netflix show, but now I see it is more of a parallel but not an exact parallel. There is some overlap and different accounts between the books and show. The books come from some different Gelfling point of views, and the Netflix show from a "Myth Teller". I would still recommend exploring Thra from the first "Shadows" book, cause it is a slow introduction from a Gelfling point of view that takes you along in the wonder of all the new locations. You could read the very short "Gelfling Gathering" (online free pdf) then jump into the show or just jump into the show. I do plan to update this video in November.
@@DarkCrystalConjunction Cheers for the prompt reply! I just ordered hardcovers of the 4 books. I wanted to just borrow shadows (library only had that one) to make sure I liked it before I committed - now I very much do. From what you say, I think I'll go ahead; read Gelfling Gathering and then plunge into the show, since it's the same story from just another perspective, and it will also provide a nice guide for what to picture in my head while reading. All that would change my plan, is if you tell me the show goes on past the events of Fire of the Dark Crystal, but if it ends at about the same point, or if the books are the ones that go further in time, then I'm happy with my plan. I would probably watch and read them slowly together, but I'm watching with someone who prefers more of a binge, and not mixing media. :)
@@MagusMarquillin Ah cool, I hear ya,... I am a more mixed media type of fella too. Enjoy, I think it is more exciting to watch. You mix it in a more technical way, like I think you could read book two between episodes 2-4, then most of three after that but then it starts getting pretty spoilery for the show and by that time you'll be glued to the show and should just finish it all :D

I just bout everything hard cover, I just finished the series & movie. So will the reading order still be the same? Ultimate Visual History of the DC Creation Myths (V1,2,3) Shadows, Song, Tides, and Flames Power (V1,2,3) Beneath (V1,2)
Pretty much the same. The World of the Dark Crystal instead of Ultimate Vis (since that one just a behind the scenes, but if you want that then it is really good). I'll be doing an update of this vid in November once we get the three new books that will drop then.
The Dark Crystal Conjunction - So I’m almost finished reading Shadows, and it conflicts with Age of Resistance, I don’t think the 4 J M Lee novels are cannon with the Movie & Series
The Dark Crystal Conjunction - Looking forward you the video! Everything I’ve read online say the J M Lee 4 novels are just a version of the TV series, and not cannon. That is a good book but it is more of a behind the scenes. Whereas "World" has some of that but also gives you a lot of history on Thra. I've found it at my local library, so give it a shot.
