I have had a brother knitting machine, from new, for many years but as the kids got bigger free time got less as I went back to work. Now I’m retired I want to get back into using it after about 25-30 years. I haven’t got it out yet but watching your video has brought back memories and made me really excited to use it again ❤

This is sweet. I am an empty nester now and have more time to knit so I understand. I'm glad you're excited.

I’m in exactly the same boat! I especially want to start using my machine again as I’m part of a province-wide group of stitchers that create comfort blankets for kids going into foster care, and for at-risk youth who have been placed. With my machine I can make many more blankets. Its exciting!

This was so helpful I was given a singer machine and there are so many extra pieces it was confusing. I now have all the correct pieces set aside saving those extra now to find the parts to my table lol

Lady, you rule. I bought a brother machine on a whim because it was cheap, and I have no idea what so ever what I'm doing. It has two missing slidy hook things which I can hopefully replace, and a missing carriage lock arm doohickey which I can make. Info on the one I bought (KH-810) seems hard to come by, but setting it up was a breeze thanks to you. Míle buíochas, from Ireland.

I've had a Studio knitting Machine for 30 yrs and now after not using it for 15 years, & being gifted with 30 skeins of yarn I'm building interest in using it. Having to purchase a table that it will mount to.

Hello! Something no one seems to explain on a Singer knitting machine is an overall how do all the buttons work and the differences between all of them. It doesn’t seem to be consistent, like do something similar when slip is chosen then try it with tuck or stockinet, it doesn’t follow the same rule. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤪😵‍💫😓
For example, to explain/show that when this button is pressed it does this… then look what happens when I press this one, now look what it’s doing … then now if we change to slip with these other buttons pressed, look how the machine is responding on the swatch. Yet, look what happens if we switch to tuck, look what happens… … … etc. … on main bed…. Then together with ribber…
    Would be so helpful.

Hello! I’m a novice to Singer 327 Memo-matic knitting machine. Great videos! Well explained, such clear footage and sound with no background noises or music! 👏🏻 🎉.
It would be such good information if you could show us which end of the yarn would be best to use or is it best to check which way the yarn is twisted and do the cast on with the yarn twist a certain way. I ask this because sometimes I’m trying to cast on e-wrap and the yarn is fighting me. 🤷🏻‍♀️
I’m also going to try to wind the skein of yarn as a cone so that this might reduce the tugging and knotting but maybe I have to wind it onto the cone starting with one of the two ends of the skein of yarn? 🤷🏻‍♀️
Hopefully you can help. Thanking you in advance, have a great day and happy knitting! 🧶
    Helen.

I wind my yarn into cakes on a ball winder. Then I use the center strand. You might need to help guide the yarn out of the center of the cake for a few passes before it starts to run smoothly out of the center.

I was given an old Toyota 747, do you have any videos on this brand at all? I watched this video right through, I'm guessing that most machines are pretty similar in their set up. Thank you for making the video. Cheers!

Cheers!

Have you watched my e-wrap cast on video? Try that, it might help. Also, check if you need to change your sponge bar. A flat sponge bar can cause all kinds of knitting problems. I have a video on how to change a sponge bar too.

@@TheKnittingMachineSchool I use e-wrap and the sponge bar was perished but now replaced, the problem remains, the first row knits but drags the wool which catches on a hook and leaves a big loop. I can knit more rows and they are all fine after the first one.

      @@TheKnittingMachineSchool Hello,
I have a Brother fine gauge punch card with ribber and a bulky with ribber. I bought them in the 1980's and used them a little. I have cleaned and oiled the fine gauge and have a new sponge bar. The bulky needs a new sponge bar but I don't have a resource to get one. Do you know where I can get one?
I've forgotten most of what I learned about machine knitting and no classes here.
      I've in Canada.
I see you have a course but wondering whether you are in Canada or USA? If the course is in US dollars it would be very cosy with the dollar exchange. Please let me know where you are located. I couldn't find it on your website.
      Thank you,
      Louise
