I realize this comment is 5 months old, but having just listened to the podcast on this, Leo was meeting with the funeral director discussing what she should be wearing bc Leo wanted an open casket and they mentioned that it should be a turtle neck or something to cover the wounds and it was THEN (according to him) that Leo found out she'd been stabbed. All the time leading up to it, he thought she'd been drowned.
So that exact thing you mentioned, being distraught at her being killed, but then finding out she was butchered/stabbed so many times... he found more despair finding out how his wife suffered.

Forensic evidence was found, that LEO had not tested. Fingerprints were found in Michelle's car & they didn't match anyone in the family, including her husband. Leo Schofield's new defense attorney obtained a copy of the prints from the the Florida State Police (which they never tested) & the prints were run through AFIS & came back as a match to convicted murderer, Jeremy Scott. He even admitted to killing her, later recanted & then admitted to the murder again. There is also proof the neighbor & 1 other witness either outright lied or were mistaken at what she saw. .

My family owned all the property to the east of state road 33 .This area used to be a large phosphate plant called Orange Park in the 50s and 60s .The plant was owned and operated by Tenno Rock and later Bordens . My family had cattle on this track of reclaim phosphate property ..When I was a kid a lot of my friends went swimming there when we were in Jr High school . It had 4 huge drainage 30 " drainage pipe that ran thousands of gallons of water per second and spilled in to the canal below .one could stand on the pipes and dive straight down to the bottom of the canal . And the force of the water would push to the surface .This area was just before the on ramp to i-4 east bound .There were very few people in this area just my huge family and a few local people who worked in the phosphate industry .After the plants closed it became a place for local teenagers to park and make out. Because it couldn't be seen from the highway It had a large stand of pine trees and palmetto shrubs between the high way and the canal . It also became a place were several female bodies were found over the years ...Today my family sold all of that property and the east side near Berkeley rd is a sports and recreational area known as Lake Merttle and the west end is the New Huge Politicnic university ...One can see how this could have possible taken place .Seeing how it's only 3 miles or so from Tom's restaurant and The ExxonMobil gas station .. Also this ExxonMobil station was where a lot of teens from the local neighborhood hung out sometimes the crowd would be over several hundred young people at a time
It would sometimes get out of hand and the Sheriff's Department would have to be called in to disburses the unruly hordes of teenagers...

    • @VTPSTTU
      @VTPSTTU Месяц назад +1

The next part is being done by all kinds of podcasters. It's a long, strange, depressing story. The police still insist that the husband murdered her. Fingerprints found in her car belong to a guy who has almost certainly killed at least three people, but police insist that he was only stealing the stereo after the husband committed the murder. That guy has confessed to the crime, but he's not someone that anyone trusts. The husband is still in jail. The other guy is also in jail for other crimes. The husband can't get parole because he refuses to admit to a crime he didn't commit. The husband's father was in jail for child molestation, but I think he's already died in jail.
No one denies that the husband had hit his wife a few times. He shouldn't have done that, and his physical abuse of her made his murdering her easy to believe. A neighbor hated him because he fought with his wife, and that prejudice led to the neighbor giving all kinds of conflicting accounts.
I believe that the confessed killer is almost certainly the one who killed her. The next most likely suspect is the husband's father. Maybe the husband did it, but I'm very skeptical.

Mullets, happened all through the 80's. Just look at all the criminal/suspect fotographs from 1980-1992 and you will find that every criminal has a mullet. It may be blonde, feathery and attempting to hide in the back behind the head, especially in portraits but it is absolutely there. The brown/hazel also known as Chestnut colured mullet, like Mr. Schofeld's here is extremely captivating from the side (DO NOT BE TAKEN IN). It tends to flirt with you, screams 'give me a winston' while lining up a corner pocket shot on a freshly felted pool table on the back streets not too far from a town/city arcade/bowling alley. The Mullet is responsible for some of the decades most heinous crimes and has not been charged but a growing number of agents fresh out of the academy have begun to highlight and acknowledge the detriment cast upon society.

@@mamacakes6039 I wish I was. Just look at Texas death row inmates arrested in the 80's. The puff and tuff will be there. Often with a half grown mustache, perhaps a tank top often saying something about Texas like
'Don't mess with Texas' or 'Austin City Limits'
You will encounter phrases like "Where's the Beach" "This Buds for You" not to mention a variety of band logos like Metallica, Megadeth and of course Ozzy Osbourne Tour Tanks tops.
I'm just glad the Mullet now strikes fear and often is unemployment and has slowly died out along with its crime spree. It still can be found on the backroads of Southern states and has been spotted in rural communities of Michigan and Canadian farming communities.

My 65 year old English auntie had to grab me and we ran for cover at the Hudsons restaurant as two rival 'mulleted' Jean jacket crustache bearing burnout gangs from different high schools engaged in battle nearly knocking over the pretzel stand into the fountain. So this makes zero sense that her husband, Leo was thrown in jail for her murder, when they shared one car, he was at Vince's house, waiting for her, after her shift at work. She stops to get gas, calls him from a pay phone, then no one hears, or sees her, for 56 hours.

Leo Schofield has tried every angle to get out of prison, including multiple appeals some of which were undertaken by the Innocence Project (he lost the appeals).
Now he's got a new angle: a woman--his brand new wife!--on the outside who will move heaven & earth to get him freed, while he builds up the appearance of 'fine upstanding innocent man' by manufacturing a family to speak for him (they adopted a child, eesh).
I've read some articles & court docs about this case--I don't think the jury got it wrong.
Both Leo's defence team & the DA KNEW ABOUT the unidentified fingerprint before his trial. The fingerprint belong to a criminal (later convicted of a different murder) who was known to comb the local interstate highways stealing stereos from abandoned cars. The stereo from Michelle's car was missing, but significantly when her body was found she still had her rings on, which made it unlikely she was killed by a thief. The criminal 'confessed' to killing her--but he also confessed to being responsible for every murder in that region of Florida in 1987/88. He is on record offering Leo's defence team a confession to Michelle's murder for $1000. An Appeal Court determined 3 years ago that the criminal's confession was not credible, & denied Leo a new trial.
It's irresponsible for 20/20 to present this as 'Is an innocent man in prison?!!!' clickbait. All it does is open old wounds for Michelle's friends & family.

@To The Lighthouse....are you just repeating what you heard on the 20/20 episode. What evidence do you have that this criminal "Scott" confessed to every murder in that region of Florida in 1987/88? Michelle's car stereo was not missing. I do not rely on anything 20/20 says but the episode claims speakers were missing not stereo. Sounds like you are just making facts up to support your opinion. And do not reply with anything you heard on 20/20. Supply real evidence such as court documents and witness statements.
