I remember when these R33 GTRs used to cost just $7000.00 USD, then RUclips bloggers jumped on the boat and now these cars (along with many other JDM legends) are hella expensive.
Well there is solution to lower the price. Nissan can start building gtr 33 and 34 again. The prices will go down again ALOT. since Toyota made a comeback supra. Would be awsome if gt-r did to
I just purchased an R33 GTS25 through Hi-Rev motors. Man I can't wait to get it shipped up to Wisconsin next Spring. Meanwhile my guy down there is kind enough to change out the front bumper for me and I am having the wheels and spoiler changed on it to give it a better look. I can't believe I finally own my dream car that I always wanted since I was 13 years old.
Nothing to worry about, these cars will be around due to a dedicated base from my generation (GenX); I especially like to hear it when young people have a taste for them, there will eventually be a transfer of custody in the future 👍
From an ex 800bhp R33 GTR owner in UK. R33 still have ceramic turbo turbine blades and don't like more than 0.9bar boost before they will shear off. Also oil pressure cold stock should be 4bar at idle and when warm drop to around 2bar
If you're reading this and your trunk/boot won't stay open because the shocks are bad, get yourself a pair of shocks for a 2011 Ford Taurus. The only thing you have to modify, is to drill a hole in both "top plates" where the top of the shock meets the trunk. You have to drill it because the original ones are welded. So drill a hole big enough to fit the threads and tighten a nut on it and voila. Brand new shocks without paying big bucks for R33 ones.
The R33 turbos are still ceramic blades and can explode, rule of thumb is not to push over 0.9 bar. The only R33 without turbo issues is the N1 that came with steel turbines from factory. The rear boots can fill with water, amazingly this is due to the factory seam sealer used on and around the rear quarters, rear windows and lights. The only way to fix this is to cutbit out and re seal. Window seals are not an common issue with leaking. The gearbox synchs are weak, they often have a crunch in one or more gears exaggerated on the downshift. This was inproved upon slightly in the later S3 cars but still is an issue. It's unfortunately part of the character of the cars. One tip it to only use genuine Nissan gearbox oil and change it regularly.
So I had this same issue, I eventually came to the conclusion that the gtr market is insane, so while I bide my time I'm getting a gtst and enjoying that
@@oni5909 hey dude an e46 is nothing to scoff at. You can really find them anywhere but the market is really high because it's well a gtr. Not many are looking at gtst and because of that you can find one for cheap
@@evdevd9881 yeah i think you can get either the gtst or an m3 for around the same price i decided with the m3 cause well it’s probably one of the best cars ever period for around that price range, i got mine for 24k
What about the normal R33 Skyline? Non GTR? I've been um-ing and ah-ing about getting one that's bone stock in my area and in really great condition inside and out, potentially modifying it further with intake, exhaust and a tune but nothing much further. Anything to look out for?
So if I find a super low mileage R33 GTS25T with like IDK 10,000 miles, but it turns on fine and idles fine, should I be worried? I mean I did see some rust so I'll most likely look at a different R33 with 80K miles and no rust ( but I hear a much louder idle on this vehicle, well more of a banging sound). Thx for sharing your knowledge!
See I just want to get a GTR and leave it bone just so it can preserve what a GTR looks like it don't need to be all f****** juice stuff like everybody wants it's like those random 240s and random rx7s and supers that have nothing done to it it's just straight phone stock except like a pair of rims and that's it like preserving it instead of destroying it
Why would that mean the airbags have gone off lol it's a series 1 the factory wheel is bulky an awful most are swapped out to either series 2 or r34 or th likes of here a tidier oe alternative
That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard lol have you seen the size of a series 1 wheel compared to a series 2/3? The s15 is a standard factory upgrade that also retains an airbag? Hell my standard wheel and airbag was removed from my r33 gtr for a proper sports wheel I guess that means my airbag went off before I replaced it 😂
@@scooter3343 No one in the history of Skyline ownership has EVER replaced the wheel unless the airbag has deployed. There is no argument against this.
Yeah no cap Iam really pissed they jacked the prices up on these shits before they were affordable and you could definitely own one or even 2 but now it’s like they want brand new car money you would spend at a dealership eventually I’ll get one I really would love to own a r33 in a midnight purple paint job or a nice metallic silver one with a pandem body kit 🥹😮💨

There’s one locally for $70k. Totally bonkers.
yeah but wouldn't there also be importing fees as well?
it still is today honestly just not the turbo variants and automatic of course

so, how is the R33?
How much did you pay?

I just found one for 11, 000. Went and checked it out and completely flawless besides a very small dent on the drivers side.

Awesome video man. The rust is very crucial to look out for

Run a carvx on the vin, they could have swapped clusters most likley so the mileage is fake.
