Is it above 300KW , is it actually in decent condition ? : My point is , spend you're money wisely , have fun and be more open , these cars are older than a majority of the owners
Spot on mate, due to USA's recent import laws, it's bloody increased all JDM cars in Australia, it's fucked. Might as well start buying current year luxury vehicles; which I did I guess
I got a question is 20k enough to find a decent shaped one I’ve seen them for about 23ish on import markets with about 70km don’t know if it’s worth it though
Agreed. As someone that still owns a JDM for the last 15 years, they are overpriced. My car should only be worth 12K to 18K depending on KMs. But people will genuinely pay 25K to 36K for my car. It’s ridiculous because nothing inside the car is worth the amount they’re willing to pay. Dumb prices for dumb buyers imo, and all these Engine Building YTuber’s of JDM cars, especially in America, are simply driving up the price of these cars. You’ll watch American engine builders working on 90s Skylines and Silvia’s, and they’ll talk about how expensive the car is to work on, and how difficult it is to work on these JDM cars. But anyone that knows, knows that most Skylines and Silvia’s are some of the easiest cars to work on. The Japanese made it so these specific cars were simply to work on and modify. Americans will make anything sound hard and expensive, so they can charge stupid amounts of money for work done on these beautiful cars.
@@JohnPedder100% I had a r33 with 320 rwkw. Man that thing was scary. Pulled so hard like a freight train. Thinking back I miss it. I'm almost tempted to get another one. But I really can't justify paying 30k for one thats not even that clean. There's a ton of them for sale right now that are just rough looking and dirty. Pant chipped and scratched but people are asking 30k. It's stupid. Especially if it's stock. I just can't justify that. The rb is a solid engine but man 90s Nissans out of all of the 90s JDM cars are probably one of the worst in build quality all these years later. I remember my ones odometer stopped working. like what cars odometer stops working? Just stuff like that. Not all but a lot of them are falling apart like that. They're never ending maintenance machines. And then parts are hard to come by and are expensive. I always said thought to myself out of all of the JDM cars that values have gone up skylines are the least worth it. Awesome cool little cars but for what they are. Especially bone stock. They're so not worth it.
I'm buying a GTST in the next few years and turning it into a GTR, and more than just those front bumper swaps, going to change the whole interior, panels, everything until its literally a match
At that point just get a GTR lol, the price difference with the GTST and GTR’s is like $20k-$40k which is what you’re gonna spend anyways to try and make it look like a GTR. I’d understand if it was an R34 GTT since GTR’s are 3-4x the price so it actually is cheaper to replicate an R34
In 2024 they are still holding weight. Seen a few between $13k USD for a super high mileage example (130k miles) and $30k USD for a low mileage example (28k-30k miles)
Hi Mate, yeah you would be spewing for not getting one when they were much cheaper, the prices have skyrocketed, still pretty quick & lot's of fun for their age & tell me that was you doing the skids Johnny lol, great vid take care man.

Cheers Alex! Yeh I wish I had of bought my r32 GTR 4 years ago.. they used to be under 20,000aud 😵💫 now 3 times that price.. even tho I knew it would happen I didn’t buy it 🤦♂️
Considering the fastest skyline in the world (including GTRs) is a RWD R33 GTST, and with a bit of money/effort in the looks department, id say R33's are worth it in todays market if you're into classic JDM. A stock one is getting rare pretty quick also. Everybody says R32/R34 GTR are the superior ones but you see one nice R32/R34 GTR you see them all. R33's may have been common in the past and still may be common today, but not a nice looking one.
Nice review man. Have owned my spec 2 r33 400bhp for 13yrs paid £5500 for it, but spent over 10k on it through the years. Best I've got 0-60 wise is a 5.5 on a nice warm dry day, tough to get it away without spin. Love the sound, turbo inside the cabin in just so loud. Love just how raw they are, no mod cons and no aids, you can really feel the rear twitch around as it gains grip from side to side.
They really are great cars. Got mine when i was 21 for £3700 in 2011, its super loud, atmospheric so gives super nice turbo noises and I remember feeling like the coolest guy in college lol. I know what you mean about raw tho even compared to the R33 GTR its a hugely different feeling from the car.
Oh man an AVCR...that brings back memories from my old FD with a Power FC. My R33 runs a Link G4X, and eliminates everything on that dash 😂 Honestly while I do miss a lot of my cars, my R33 GTST was the most comfortable to drive and reliable to absolutely beat on as a daily drive about the city, on road trips, etc... My R33 has been in storage for the better part of 10 years, and these days it has pretty substantial mods and is relegated to staying at home, especially since it doesnt currently meet compliance to be on the road...but hopefully have that sorted in the next few months.
I bought my r33 gts na skyline with little to no rust and 9k miles on it for 10k i wished i got a gtst coupe but im glad i got what i got cause i now know how these r33’s work so whenever I decide to get a GTST/GTR i have a solid idea on what to look for!
I used to import them they were good for their day. Now they are old and have big problem costing alot to fix and maintain etc. They are not worth the money but to someone who loves them its not about money.
I’m in a position to buy a few vehicles now for 20ish k but most things I like are just to much now. I’m 5 yrs to late 😭 I still own a NA mx5, rx8 and wrx but always wanted a 13b turbo and supra/skyline.
The R33 was the meat and potatoes of any Japanese import yard, literally a McDonald's car! Nowadays you have to keep your eyes peeled to see one on the street.
I brought my 96 automatic (shift kitted) don't hate me lol r33 for 5.5k about 8 years ago, I gave her ass a bruise but got it repaired I love the thing :) and yes a auto skyline will still go sideways if you're not careful. I slammed my foot to the floor one day from a stop and she went straight for a lil bit but when it got to the end of 2nd gear it was spinning the tyre's faster than it was actually going I went sideways left right left right and then backwards up a gutter when I spun around I missed the gutter by about 2-3 inches I hit a lexus on a nature strip and that's what gave my baby a bruise haha the lexus had a cracked bumper my skyline was kinda squashed like a can but eh 🤷♂️ only paid $1300 for repairs and paint a bargain
been looking at the r33 GTS25T as they havent completely blown up in price. just praying it dont blow up. hopefully the market crashes and goes back to normal
Back in 2013 I paid $21,000 USD for my 1997 R33 GTR Vspec N1. At the time I though it was a bad deal, but now I’m glad I did. These are such amazing cars, it’s a shame they got such a bad reputation from a cheesy classic Japanese anime.

Xr6t feels way more torquey low down and mid range, a lot more punchy off boost. Rb25 feels pretty slow off boost but comes alive after 4k rpm. Of course depends what turbo set up you have etc. So the two feel very different imo
Nah they would be different beasts. I would probably alike it to comparing a V8 to an inline 4. One is a 4 litre torque monster while the other is a 2.5L( I think) limiter bashing machine. The biggest difference however is that the Barra is undersquare (more low end torque, reliability but no rb like limiter sounds) while the rb is oversquare (high end torque and high reving but stupidly unreliable).
this particular one with the mods drives very different to a barra.. as soon as this hits boost its at limiter VERY quickly.. most barras have a LONG power curve and have a lot more tourqe feel to them.. these RB motors feel week until you hit the boost then they scream.. but like another comment mentioned all depends on mods and how you set each car up
so many here in NZ and prices are so high none of them are selling.laws around modifications always changing and the economys crap most people are to scared to spend the money.i tried selling my R32 a while back for a fraction of the cost to build and really mean a fraction didn't get any interest what so ever.
if just for weekends.. id say no.. just because they are so expensive now.. you can have a huge amount of fun in one if these RB25 cars.. the GTR is better of course but $$$$
Hey dude, how is the GTT compared to the GTST? I’m from Germany and there are a good couple of GTTs for bout 20k Euros. What do you think about that price?

: DO NOT BUY A Rusty LIVE REG rolling body or in fact a LIVE/DE REG rolling body for 5-10K , youll soon regret it- Find a budget and work off of that you'll get nowhere and it'll only drive prices up meaning that you've not just screwed the next person buying one price wise but also yourself as you are driving the price up on parts , not good
:DO NOT BUY An Expensive NA Skyline - its cool yeah , can cruise with the boys but give it a few weeks and youll start feeling the NA "Burden" , youll wish you saved for a Turbo Variant or another car
:R32'S / 33'S / 34'S are not the the only cars on the planet to have nice tail lights , cool sounds , shape and nostalgia or even the name itself , choose your options wisely , if it is your dream car to own, then have another think about it , is it cool to see on youtube or own yourself where youre going to fork out on expensive parts and drive it once on the weekends because you dont want to drive the km's high
:DO YOUR RESEARCH , DO NOT GET FOOLED , RB's can be reliable , a Sunday cruise or a daily , it depends on the setup , owners intentions etc. like most vehicles its as good as long as it is maintained and not every RB can take a beating
: THESE CARS ARE OVER PRICED NO STORY ABOUT IT , youll be stoked seeing one , the excitement of owning one and the rush of cruising in the passenger seat boosting down town or skidding an intersection up - YOU WILL see these cars are ALWAYS ALMOST being REPOSTED EVERY 6 MONTHS - Ive seen it , the 300kw machine that a mates bought and saying they will never sell it only for it to blow a turbo a few weeks later becoming a garden ornament or just simply becoming BORED OF IT , ive seen people spend 20k on an engine and sell the car for 12k, yes these cars are going up price but why should it mean that YOUR'E VERY OWN CAR should be 20k? Is it above 300KW , is it actually in decent condition ?
: My point is , spend you're money wisely , have fun and be more open , these cars are older than a majority of the owners
i would say the same thing.. the barra is much more reliable and offers more bang for buck ;)
Spot on mate, due to USA's recent import laws, it's bloody increased all JDM cars in Australia, it's fucked. Might as well start buying current year luxury vehicles; which I did I guess
@@trcs3079 Yeah its gnarly as hell everywhere even in NZ , good on ya would love a modern luxury car myself
I got a question is 20k enough to find a decent shaped one I’ve seen them for about 23ish on import markets with about 70km don’t know if it’s worth it though
@@standwithukraine1631 replying from my other account , what model is it? what engine , whats been done to it which country are you from?
After owning 1 r33 gtst and 3 r33 gtrs, no, they are not worth the price they are now but are still awsome cars :). great review again Jonny.
i think for anyone whos owned one before they would not pay that kinda money people are asking now.. but in the drivers seat i do love the drive
Good to see your informative review on a classic.
thanks mate!
Picked my S1.5 M Spec up for 24k aud last month, absolutely love it I still can't understand why people sleep on these things to this day
They are very fun engaging cars to drive
I'm buying a GTST in the next few years and turning it into a GTR, and more than just those front bumper swaps, going to change the whole interior, panels, everything until its literally a match
At that point just get a GTR lol, the price difference with the GTST and GTR’s is like $20k-$40k which is what you’re gonna spend anyways to try and make it look like a GTR. I’d understand if it was an R34 GTT since GTR’s are 3-4x the price so it actually is cheaper to replicate an R34
I found one the same as this for what I think was a decent price about 6 months ago, doing a build up series on it and loving every second of it!
nice work.. they are a lot of fun good luck on the build :)
Epic vid. I picked up an average condition one recently for $18k. Can't wait to tidy her up
good work man! glad you enjoyed the video
Love These cars. Would love a R32 GTR Black. Then R34 R35. Sounded soooo good.
R32 is my favorite also :) love the R35 too
R32 GTR was my childhood dream car and still kinda is.
@@mikenolan3060 i always wanted a 1990 R32 GTR
In 2024 they are still holding weight. Seen a few between $13k USD for a super high mileage example (130k miles) and $30k USD for a low mileage example (28k-30k miles)
I'm surprised you're not constantly in opposite lock! mine was dangerous in wet conditions, I miss like hell! haha
I was driving safely 😂 might not of looked like it tho.. definitely can be a handful
Hi Mate, yeah you would be spewing for not getting one when they were much cheaper, the prices have skyrocketed, still pretty quick & lot's of fun for their age & tell me that was you doing the skids Johnny lol, great vid take care man.
the prices are huge now eh! WISH i had a few in the back shed haha.. always fun to do a cheeky skid once n a while
Slow stock, but with basic mods these 90's turbo Nissans came alive. Well maintained with intercooler, intake exhaust, tune you had a quick car that made you smile, miss my 180😪
they are so much fun eh.. decently quick and just give you so much emotion and soul
These were 6k a few years back we all know what happened USA ruined it for us.
its sad to look back at the prices haha :(
@@RossReviewsau it is but I have had my JDM ledgen for 20yrs so all is good and will never sell it. My on regret was a chance to buy a group A R32GTR for 17k back in the day but SH@T happens.
@@kanenstuff i wanted a 32 GTR also and i was so close to doing it right before the price jump.. but had my first kid then so i resisted.. big mistake oh well
What a beast and what a great video :-). We have the same problem here, these cars prices just skyrocketed. Shame I didn't buy a R33 GTR 6 years ago for 15000 euros !
Cheers Alex! Yeh I wish I had of bought my r32 GTR 4 years ago.. they used to be under 20,000aud 😵💫 now 3 times that price.. even tho I knew it would happen I didn’t buy it 🤦♂️
I just paid $43k aud for a series 2 with 400rwhp. One of the best purchases I ever made what a car.
GOD DAMN! yeh they aint cheap anymore that used to be R33 GTR money i can remember about 4 years ago R32's for about 20k great cars tho no doubt
Good to see Mexico getting some much needed rain.
Lovely time of year to visit 🇲🇽
Considering the fastest skyline in the world (including GTRs) is a RWD R33 GTST, and with a bit of money/effort in the looks department, id say R33's are worth it in todays market if you're into classic JDM. A stock one is getting rare pretty quick also. Everybody says R32/R34 GTR are the superior ones but you see one nice R32/R34 GTR you see them all. R33's may have been common in the past and still may be common today, but not a nice looking one.
picking up my r33 tomorrow for 16k, midnight purple:)
Good score
Just snagged one of these for a decent price I think. 97 series 2 with some nice upgrades. Just waiting for it to ship.
Good stuff man hope it treats you well! Fun cars
I know what you mean about raw tho even compared to the R33 GTR its a hugely different feeling from the car.
they are just a really special car eh.. very lively and just a ton of character! wish i got one when they were 10k aud! haha
I want one.
A GT25T is a very similar car, it just has a smaller turbo
Edit: My bad, I was mislead.
They are the same thing.
Fun cars 🤘
Oh man an AVCR...that brings back memories from my old FD with a Power FC. My R33 runs a Link G4X, and eliminates everything on that dash 😂
Honestly while I do miss a lot of my cars, my R33 GTST was the most comfortable to drive and reliable to absolutely beat on as a daily drive about the city, on road trips, etc...
My R33 has been in storage for the better part of 10 years, and these days it has pretty substantial mods and is relegated to staying at home, especially since it doesnt currently meet compliance to be on the road...but hopefully have that sorted in the next few months.
I bought my r33 gts na skyline with little to no rust and 9k miles on it for 10k i wished i got a gtst coupe but im glad i got what i got cause i now know how these r33’s work so whenever I decide to get a GTST/GTR i have a solid idea on what to look for!
good for you man! nice buy
I used to import them they were good for their day. Now they are old and have big problem costing alot to fix and maintain etc. They are not worth the money but to someone who loves them its not about money.
That was a sick skid…. Also what was the zero to 100 time for your old boss Ute? Can’t seem to find it on the vids!
i never did a 0-100 i think in the Ute sadly... was a good cheeky skid eh
they are still 10k if you find a importer that's not price gouging. Currently in Japan right now. Okinawa to be specific
collectors car now open for huge market its bound to be around for a while
I agree it’s always gonna be a sort after car.. I still think the price is high but will hold its value I’m sure
One of the biggest regrets was selling mine. I saw the current owner on the freeway and around Joondy, if you see this HMU hahaha
It’s crazy to see the price jump wish I had of stashed a few away 😭
I’m in a position to buy a few vehicles now for 20ish k but most things I like are just to much now. I’m 5 yrs to late 😭
I still own a NA mx5, rx8 and wrx but always wanted a 13b turbo and supra/skyline.
sadly all the great enthusiast cars have all tripled in price over the last year.. you have some cool cars already tho atleast :)
Yooo swang it!! im buying one this week!
Epic stuff
The R33 was the meat and potatoes of any Japanese import yard, literally a McDonald's car! Nowadays you have to keep your eyes peeled to see one on the street.
they are getting more and more rare now eh!
@@RossReviewsau We took too many cars for granted mate hahaha

They are getting crazy in Australia! Hard to find cheap ones anymore
@@RossReviewsau I’m in NA so should be a whole different market. We’ll see tho I can only hope
Back in 2013 I paid $21,000 USD for my 1997 R33 GTR Vspec N1. At the time I though it was a bad deal, but now I’m glad I did. These are such amazing cars, it’s a shame they got such a bad reputation from a cheesy classic Japanese anime.
Vspec N1 VERY NICE! gotta love a GTR one of my all time fav's from japan

And right now i am pisssed, because o am on a GTST tip right now. .
And damnit, i wish 6-7 years ago i was feeling them as much as i do now, because i had a pretty clean one. under 40,000 kilometers and I let it go for under 15k. . .lol
but my stupid self wanted the elusive GTR more. And of course the one i got was in fair condition (at best). . i could kick myself now. because the GTST in my eyes, NOW is So good looking.
oh well, live and learn. im loving the big japanese 4 door toyotas now that im getting old. . hahaa
Hello.
I am looking to buy my first r33 gtst.
The vin number on the car has 10 numbers in all.
Is this correct or i have seen some with 11 letters?
Bought my S1 in 2021 with a bad engine harness and some rot in the trunk for 10K. Spent 5K for a full naked restoration
great deal by todays standards!
The smile on your face says- worth every $
its a joy to drive 100%
Bought mine in like 2011 for 3.7k lol. Was a series 1.5 with m spec body. Was a nice car for when I was 18
thats a healthy return on investment HAHA! legend
I miss that RB25 engine, I put one in my S13 Silva and totally regret selling it!
its always the way with selling nice cars haha
Been offered a non turbo neo auto r34
And a gts4 1.5s r33 m spec, sunroof
He's keen to swap either one for my s1 auto non turbo 2jzge jza80 supra aero top/targa project car.
Not sure if its worth it but seeing your review maybe swapping in a rb25det into a gts4 would be the go
Interesting man! Haha I’m not sure 🤔 would be cool to see
I would imagine that it would be similar to a XR6T with the in gear torque, being a inline 6 single turbo like the XR6T.
The biggest difference however is that the Barra is undersquare (more low end torque, reliability but no rb like limiter sounds) while the rb is oversquare (high end torque and high reving but stupidly unreliable).
this particular one with the mods drives very different to a barra.. as soon as this hits boost its at limiter VERY quickly.. most barras have a LONG power curve and have a lot more tourqe feel to them.. these RB motors feel week until you hit the boost then they scream.. but like another comment mentioned all depends on mods and how you set each car up
i really want to see a lexus sc400 review. or an Ls400 review as i own one
ill do my best to find one!
The rb engine or the barra engine ross? What's your pick? Haha
Both are great
Barra of course!!! But I do like a good skyline
me and my dad where fixing a r33 gtst and found out its a rb20
hmmm shouldnt be an RB20 unless its an R32 GTST
so many here in NZ and prices are so high none of them are selling.laws around modifications always changing and the economys crap most people are to scared to spend the money.i tried selling my R32 a while back for a fraction of the cost to build and really mean a fraction didn't get any interest what so ever.
Bloody rippa to see some more from the beautiful Mexican lands
🇲🇽👻🇲🇽 new you’d love that brotha
Never new Mexico had so many Gumtrees!
@@Beer_Dad1975 its full of them ;p
My old rx7 had 322hp at the wheels and that also felt more than enough.
its healthy eh! more than enough to have fun in
Is the gtr worth the extra money vs a gtst? For example, if you are just looking for a weekend cruiser through the twisties?
if just for weekends.. id say no.. just because they are so expensive now.. you can have a huge amount of fun in one if these RB25 cars.. the GTR is better of course but $$$$
Inside this car it’s basic meanwhile you have a power FCECU about a 3k ecu and a 500$ fuel controler
Sounds semi built to me! I wouldn’t be surprised!
That external gate 🔥👌👌👌
What brand of wheels are these. I had them on my gtst many moons ago and am wanting to get my hand on some
