I feel like the dual ride basically took the doona and improved on it.
That’s what I tell people lol evenflo said what to people hate about this super trending careat and either fixed or improved it significantly we went with the shyft and let me tell you without the wheels it’s like ten pounds lighter such a nice feature
Evenflo really outdid themselves with this one! Can’t wait to buy it!
I agree, it's very nice!
I’m definitely leaning towards the Evenflo.
This is so helpful! Other than weight, it seems like Evenflo just leveled up on the doona! Fixed or improved so much.
Thank you for this video. I have been having my eye on the doona, and now that I've seen this comparison video, I think I made up my mind.
Thanks for watching and I'm happy to know it helped you decide!
Doona looks very classy sleek and modern the evenflo looks Lila a robot in my opinion
The doona hasn’t made any improvements since it was released, I’m loving the competition from Evenflo
I love my doona. Used it for the first time with my third kid and now I want a 4th just to try the dual ride! I had e never heard/seen it.
The evenflow slot holders in the car seat for the buckles when putting your child in is a game changer for me 😍
It's a nice extra!
It’s worth noting that the Doona does have a storage bag specifically made for it that clips to the back, but it does have to be purchased separately and it appears that the storage on the Dual Ride is bigger.
Thanks so much I think ima go with Evenflo
Thanks for watching!
I still think it would be cheaper to buy a car seat stroller with a separate car seat. I’d rather spend $500 on a convertible seat that lasts many years. Side note, evenflo is really trying to stand out in the baby market in recent years. I’ve never been super impressed with their seats (they feel cheap), but this looks nice.
I have the Evenflo Revolve 360 and I love it. Total game changer.
@@mawithaxdd same here I’m tempted to get a 2nd one as well
I concur....
Is there any stroller with car seat that can conver ip to toddler car seat?
@@heidykatheryn8279 No.
The doona does actually have a snap on storage accessory bag, as well as what they call an essentials bag that fits to the handle. It’s basically a diaper and bottle bag. It also has sunshade extensions, insect net, and a 360 protection accessory from both sun and insects. I used this carseat for a year and it was pretty great. Only thing it is missing is the drink holder accessory and ability for the wheels to come off. I chose doona for the wheel feature, as it is hard for me to carry around any carseat due to some handicaps.
The doona’s bag is smaller than the evenflo’s storage bag. There are more safety features and accessories add up. Evenflo is so much better for the money and safety of the seat is actually better than the doona which is shocking. It’s great for babies who are premature. The accessories that are extra on the doona are standard on the shyft. With the evenflo I can have the wheels on it or off and it attaches to several different brands of strollers. So I can use it with different configurations and it will grow with my family where as the options are limited with the doona. The safety features that are on the evenflo (alerts etc) is what made me choose the evenflo.
Thank you so much for this video! It’s been super helpful to decide which one to go with 💕
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
Great review. Watched it before & I'm back today for a second round 😅
Well I guess it was helpful if you watched it twice!
@@safeintheseat
Indeed, ma'am
It's sad that both products are expensive yet when you look at consumer's reviews, it's subpar! I feel like in recent years, esp post COVID, cheating has become rampant
This was SUCH a helpful video!!
Glad you found it helpful!
I was all the way set on the Doona until I watched this video. Evenflo Gold for the win!
Doona it’s better
Sounds like Evenflo for the win. Especially if you're spending $500 on a carseat. I'd want something baby could fit into longer.
It would definitely last longer for most kids. Keep in mind that we're only talking about a few months difference, though.
In regards to weight you should also realize that you’re not going to carry this seat around. I have the doona and over the past 8 months I have never been in a situation where I needed to carry the seat. The most I carry is getting it in and out of the car or up a couple stairs and when I do that I grab the handle bar and the back of the seat and it’s much easier to handle the weight vs just carrying it with the handle.
great point!
I love my doona and miss it everyday! Only people who have the doona know the luxury it offers
The handles don’t go all the way back to push the stroller! So baby can’t look forward when u go for a walk that is very lame!!
@@cristina001fulit isn’t supposed to be used as a stroller full time it is a car seat
What luxury does it offer?
@@NadiaGThomas Have you carried a heavy car seat out of the hospital, into the house, out of the house into a car, out of a car, into a hospital, throughout the hospital, out of a hospital, into the car, into the store, out of a store, into the house while also exhausted carrying a million groceries, and then into the house and out of the house and over and over and over and over again 700 million times until the kid can finally walk to his car seat? It was the mist frustrating thing with my first and as soon as I heard of the Doona, I sighed with relief I would not have to do that again with my second that's due in June, you may not mind carrying a regular car seat, but this car seat is for sure a LUXURY for me. It's saving me MONTHS of aching and tired arms and legs and frustration.
@@shalysophia8281 just out of the hospital and into the house lol for everything else i clicked the car seat into the stroller it came with that i have been using since my first child (pregnant with number 3 now) i just can’t justify the price and then having to buy yet another stroller once’s my child outgrows it you know? My cousin has it and she did not recommend it. The beauty of doing and purchasing whatever you want tho! I’ll give my cousins one a try and see if it changes my mind
I have never been an evenflo fan, but if I had it to do over again, this would be a definite purchase for me.
It's a great option!
The Doona does not meet Canadian safety standards so even if I could get it in my country I wouldn’t. Scary that it’s being used by so many parents for their precious cargo.
I was so excited to see evenflo’s option because of the doona not meeting our safety standards!
What’s the weight of the evenflo as a carrier (without the wheels). Any idea in price point yet? Thanks for this awesome review!
It's about 11# and it's going to be close in price to the Doona. There will be 3 different price points though
$550
They are both very convenient. I just feel like the Doona is too low. As in I'd have to bend more to take baby in and out. I prefer a stroller that I can just click carseat on top and keep using the stroller into baby's toddler years.
So glad I got the DualRide but I didn't come across your video until after the fact but after watching it I feel like I chose the perfect one! Thank you for such a helpful/informational video.
Glad you found the perfect seat for you!
As a preemie mom Evenflo for the win.
Definitely!
I would like to see a comparison of the brakes. As well as how easy it is to take off that storage bag thing for the dual ride. Oh and how much does the duel ride weigh unattached to the wheels? Is it comparable to other infant seats?
The brakes are very similar, both similar to other stroller brakes. It comes off very easily. The DualRide is about 11# without the wheels.
My reflex baby really hated the Doona because of the angle of the back. She was scrunched up too much and preferred to lay back a little more. Does the evenflo recline a little bit more than the Doona does?
All infant seats have around the same recline
Are you able to detach the wheels from the base WITHOUT the car seat attached? Or do you HAVE to detach the wheels while the seat is fitted?
You can only remove the wheels when the seat is attached to the base. The wheels will always be attached to either the base or the infant seat, there is no way to have them separate.
Thank you for your video. I have 2 major questions that I have not seen in any videos out there. One: How safe are these car seats in case of a car accident? Two: Is the safe sensor actually safe for babies in the sense of radiation and such? I hope you see these questions because this is the only thing that’s keeping me away from buying any one of these. Thank you.
They pass the same crash tests that all car seats in the US are required to pass. Sensorsafe is safe as far as we know at this time.
@@safeintheseat I disagree. EMF's are no joke especially around infants. I would not be using any bluetooth or electronics anywhere near a baby or child. Mitigating EMF's for all humans its extremely under valued and known. However awareness is starting to pickup
I recently saw someone say Evenflo passed Canadian crash test standards while doona did not. What did you end up choosing?
Having trouble with crotch buckle on 5# newborn with shyft dualride. They just dig into his legs and we can’t seem to figure this out. We’ve positioned the crotch buckle in the closest slot to rear as well as the middle slot. Can’t find any info on this! Help!
Evenflo has free video chats: evenflo.appointlet.com/
What age can this car seat last until? New mom just trying to learn about these things
It depends on the child, as they come in different sizes. But the Doona lasts until 9-12 months usually and the Dualride until 12-15 months. But smaller kids will last longer in both and larger kids may outgrow them sooner.
That’s incorrect to say that the Doona doesn’t have storage. It does, you just have to buy the bag attachment separately. Otherwise, thanks for the review. Evenflo looks like a huge improvement from the sizing and comfort standpoint. My son has nearly outgrow the Doona at 8 months old!!
Thanks for watching! I meant that the Doona doesn't come with the storage and for the same price the Evenflo does come with it. It's definitely a lot longer lasting than the Doona too. But both are nice options still.
I don't even have a baby but I'll still buy that Evenflo
Clearly I have one and no baby over here! haha
What about if the newborn is on the heavier side? 9lb to 10lbs baby? Would these strollers be too narrowed for them? If so is there any dual carseat stroller that you recommend that isn’t too bulky?
Either seat would work for a larger newborn. These are the only 2 options at this time.
These car seats are super important to people with neurological issues who are unable to carry a standard car seat, even if just running a small errand. Dragging out a bug bulky stroller is inconvenient, so these systems help parents who are unable to lift and carry the infant car seat.
They still have to be able to lift it in and out of the vehicle, and these are extremely heavy, so it can still be problematic for some caregivers. Another solution is baby-wearing instead of using a car seat outside of the vehicle at all.
Specifically speaking, I have issues that prevent me from wearing or holding, so this would work for me. I don't have a problem lifting out but am unable to continually engage my muscles do to the neurological issues.
Looking at this wishing I would have gotten the Evenflo... My Donna was purchased new and is squeaking 10 months after baby....
Any stroller wheels will squeak if you allow them to get wet too often
Do the Doona X and the evenflo Shyft !
The Doona X is a European seat. If Doona brings a new version to the US, I'll make a video I imagine.
Does anyone know the approximate torso height that the dual ride could accommodate? Trying to find this information online and can’t see it anywhere
Once in carrier mode for the evenflo, can I put it in an uppababy vista stroller?
Evenflo says that the only compatible stroller is the one that comes with the Evenflo Shyft travel system.
I'm reading reviews that say you cannot purchase an additional Evenflo Shyft DualRide base -- is this true? I can't seem to find one on the most common retail sites.
That is true at this time. They are working on it being available, but they don't as of right now.
Thank you for this video. Very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Suggestions for using the Evenflo Dual Ride with Twins when your traveling alone?
That sounds kind of challenging. If you don't already have this seat, I think I would opt for something that works in a double stroller
Does it come with the base? Or do you need to buy that separate for the dual ride?
The base comes with it!
@@safeintheseat Bases are no sold separately. What do you do for parents who equally drive with the baby in two separate vehicles? Is installing in one of the cars without the base still easy and convenient? With traditional car seats I purchase extra bases that stay in each car.
Do you know the dimensions of the Doona in the base? Seems like the evenflo is a lot longer which would provide a lot less room for driver/passenger.
Both the Doona and the Evenflo are pretty sizable front-to-back. The front-to-back space varies by vehicle, though, due to the seat slopes. Evenflo requires 1.5" between the infant seat and the seat in front of it unless installed in the middle seat.
my only issue is the fact that its an evenflo product.. the documentaries about their booster seats and saftey regulations really turn me off to the brand. but this and the roatating carseat seem so handy! how do you feel about the brand? have they improved since?
Taking into consideration that the Doona does not meet Canadian Safety Regulations and Evenflo Dualride along with most if not all Evenflo car seats are meeting our standards, I think it’s safe to say Evenflo is a decent brand
@@meganlouise8182 im sure its fine i just have trouble trusting the brand after they were intentionally misleading
Is evenflo airplane certified like the doona is? I don’t see any info about that topic on the website
Yes, the DualRide has FAA approval!
I just bought mine from Walmart and I like it so far it has Bluetooth and it will tell you when your child is getting hot in the car seat and how long he/she will be in for
The SensorSafe feature is very cool
When will the Evenflo Dual Ride be available?
Any minute now! We will link as soon as it is
Been a while since I saw a review this biased. Doona storage options are better than that square baggy on the dual ride. But she never mentioned that at all!
Carrier only option is silly. The whole point is that you don't have to carry it!
Longevity argument was very subjective. I'll just say that my doona has worked for five kids and is waiting for the sixth to arrive later this year. (We're sharing with another family, so it's still within the 5 year limit).
The shoulder height has no bearing on when your kid is too big for either seat. Their legs will start getting squashed against the seat back long before their shoulders max out. Plan on one year of use max per kid.
Given all of this, I suspect she's getting a kickback from evenflow.
Nope, no kickback from Evenflo! Both manufacturers sent the seat for free to try, and that's it. We tried both seats with multiple kids, and the Evenflo fit kids for much longer, some as long as 2 years of age. The Doona was outgrown by most kids around 12-15 months.
The fact that you can remove the wheels on the Evenflo is a huge perk as it helps take some weight off!
It's a nice feature for sure!
Bulk off
You made great points here. Couple questions I didn’t see in the comments:
- can you use the evenflo as a stroller with the handle bar in the middle position like you can the Doona? (I’d love to be able to push baby next to me and give them a view aside from my big noggin)
- how easy is the storage attached and removed for each?
You can have the handle in the middle position. However, you cannot extend it, so it will be quite short. The storage is easy to attach and remove for both.
I read somewhere the evenflo requires you to take off wheels if used without a base. Is that true? And if so, how difficult is it to do. Also would you be concerned without the handle as the rebound bar when baseless. I am thinking we may not get extra bases for all grandparents, but we are leaning towards the evenflo
You have to remove two wheels and move them into a different position. Alternatively, you can leave the wheels in the base and only install the carrier portion. It's easy to change the wheel position. The handle can be in stroller mode with the baseless installation, which would act like an anti-rebound bar. There are no extra bases available at this time.
I still have my Doona from my son 4 or so years ago. I’m expecting, I use that one or will I need to purchase a new one?
The expiration date is 6 years, so you should be fine, so long as you ensure there's no mold or anything on the seat. - CPST
@@imaclover1428 Thank you! It’s been in our guest room for two years (I wasn’t sure if we were going to have another but I love my Doona and kept it “just in case”)
We bought the Evenflo after comparison. Yes the Evenflo is nice on releasing only car seat but they both fail in smooth ride. Wish both had better absorbing wheels and shocks. Gets caught in any crack
I agree. Neither are particularly better from that aspect.
Hi! First time mom here, really struggling with the decision so maybe someone can help me clarify one thing. My understanding is that BOTH seats can be use with and without their base. If this is correct, wouldn’t that mean that when used without it’s base, the Evenflo won’t have anti-rebound capability since that feature is on its base where as the Doona’s anti-rebound is on the seat itself?
If you have the DualRide's handle in stroller position in the car, it passes the Canadian's anti-rebound requirements. So, if you are concerned, use that handle position even though the US version allows any locked position since our crash testing does not have that requirement.
THIS WAS SOOOO HELPFUL! Thank you 🙏
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching it!
Evenflo all the way doona just reminds me of a Stanley cup the names all hype and the product is basically average your just buying the brand name
The DualRide is a nice seat!
How well do they work with a carseat cover?
Do you mean a vehicle seat cover? If so, Doona comes with one. Evenflo makes a mat, but they also allow a single-layered towel. If you mean a cover for the car seat, we do not recommend those. They make the baby really hot.
Sooo helpful because I was wondering and waiting to see a review
Glad this was helpful for you; thanks for watching!
I will need that storage! Hahaha definitely going with evenflo. The car seat is removable. I mean you have option to do it, very convenient for me ❤️🥰
Hope you love it!
Dual ride looks much heavier. What is the weight in full stroller form . And what is weight of the doona in stroller without base
The DualRide is a few pounds heavier. The Doona is about 17# and the DualRide is close to 20#
@@safeintheseat ok thank you. Some people may struggle with that like mothers that had CS or people with back issues
Donna DOES have accessories like a storage bag, and cup holder bag that easily attaches. She must be paid by Evenflo
Neither company paid me other than sending me a free seat. The Doona's accessories are a separate purchase, while the Evenflo came with the accessories in the box.
I STILL can’t decide. The weight listed for the evenflo seat are even higher than doona, and not as cute as doona… but then some of the features of the evenflo are better… how do people decide!!! Lol
It's a tough decision for sure, and you would probably be just as happy with either one. Both are good options!
Doona❤
Are you able to attach a universal buggy board to the evenflo?.. it seems to have the bar to be able to do so. Is that safe?
No, you cannot attach one of those.
Can you attach the dual ride to other strollers on the market such as the mockingbird or uppa baby vista? With or without the wheels attached? I want the option to do this is I want to go on a longer walk and want a sturdier stroller for bumps.
There are no adapters for this seat. It works on the Evenflo Shyft stroller with the wheels removed. It possibly works with strollers that have universal adapters like Mountain Buggy Nano.
As far as safety which one’s safety rating is better?
Crash test results are not released, so all we know is that both passed the required standards.
I saw something that said to install the dualride into a car without the base you have to remove and replace one of the wheels in a different place ay the bottom of the carseat. Is that true?
Two wheels must be moved to a different space, yep. It's pretty fast though
Does the evenflo comes with that storage and cup holder or you have to purchase that separately?
There are 4 different models of the DualRide. The 3 higher priced models come with the storage and cupholder. The cheapest one ($499.99) does not.
Can you buy a second base for the dualride? I can’t find that option anywhere.
Extra bases are not currently available, but should be in the near future
Do you know if the Shyft Dualride car seat (without the wheels) can be placed on a Uppababy Vista v2 (with adapters)?
It is not listed as one of the seats that is compatible with that stroller.
I’m confused, do you NEED a car base attachment for the dual ride? I’m trying to get a one and done easiest stroller carseat for traveling passed a plane
The base comes in the box with the seat. The base is not required to be used in the car and not allowed on a plane
Can you use the canopy of the evenflo when the headrest ist fully extended?
It's very stretchy so you can use it
Any safety data yet on the Dual Ride?
No safety data is released for car seats in the US or Canada. Anything you see would be 3rd party testing that may not be reliable.
No safety data on any car seats in the US and Canada or just not on this one since it’s new?
Love
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the review! Btw, I’ve a question related to the naps on the car seat… it’s known that babies shouldn’t take naps on it just because “meh, It’s easier” 😅 and they should be taken from the seat for some period to let the babies to take more oxygen 🤷🏻♀️ sooo, if you are on a long ride, how it would’ve work? 😢
On a long car ride, you should be getting them out every 2 hours at a minimum.
It’s the dual ride compatible with other car seats? I have a pivot xpand set
It doesn’t seem like it will be
The DualRide with the stroller portion removed will be compatible with the Evenflo Shyft stroller only is what we have been told
Is there any info on crash test ratings? Which is safer in that scenario ?
They have both passed the required crash testing. We don't have the crash test results available for either of these seats.
Does anyone know if you can attach the even flo dual ride car seat itself (without the wheels) to another stand alone stroller?
Without the wheels, you can attach it to the Evenflo Shyft stroller if you can find a used one. Evenflo only sells it as a travel system so it wouldn't make sense to buy that. You can also try to use it in a stroller that works for most car seats like Mountain Buggy Nano.
lol nobody is taking home a 3lb baby. NICU protocol is to keep babies admitted until they reach 4lb minimum.
There are some 3 lbs babies being sent home for sure. We have a NICU nurse on our team who has seen this happen in her own hospital, and we know of it happening in other hospitals around the country as well. It's more common than you think. Sometimes a baby is doing very well and there's no reason to keep them in the hospital.
Bought the even Flo, I have a big baby and I water to max out the use
The Evenflo will generally last longer than the Doona, hope you enjoy it!
My babies all have been over 9lbs and 21-23 inches long.
Will these work for a larger baby?
Yes!
Wow for the same price this video made Doona look like crap🙈
It's still a good option for some people, but it's nice for Doona to have some competition
This was a very helpful video. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Can the dualrider attach to a different stroller like the uppababy?
It can attach to the Evenflo Shyft stroller. It could possibly attach to a stroller that's universal like Mountain Buggy Nano as well.
Does the dual ride handle go higher???... for taller parents?
It is taller than the Doona's, yes
Is this something you would recommend as someone who just wants the carseat with the ARB handlebar for baseless installs?
How much is the doona I am trying it this weekend
Around 550
Do you know which strollers the Evenflo car-seat-only can click into?
At this time, it only works with the Evenflo Shyft stroller.
Ok wow! What a helpful video!!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Can the dualride when detached from wheels click into the evenflo pivot xpand modular system stroller?
It's currently only compatible with the Evenflo Shyft stroller
Thank you for your very honest and amazing review of the two. I'm under 100lbs post partum so these may be a bit heavier for me as baby grows 😂
You are so welcome! They are heavy for sure
Do you also need to buy a base for the dual ride ?
A base comes with the DualRide. They do not have extra bases available at this time.
What i can see the Dualride is in EU? XD
Only Doona has European versions available.
I had the doona with my first and loved it, seriously thinking of buying this one with this second baby but I do have a question
Can the Evenflo be attached to a shopping cart like a normal carseat if the legs are removed?
No car seat should be attached to a cart ever. It's not safe. It's a tipping hazard, the angle is wrong for the baby, and it can break the mechanism that allows the car seat to attach to the car seat base. If you take off the wheels, you can put it in the large basket area.
This really seems like Apple vs Samsung. Samsung (dualride) has way more functional benefits but you're cool if you have the apple (doona) 😂
What an interesting view! lol
If I have a second baby then definitely going with the dual ride
It's a great option!
Wouldn’t the Evenflo be lighter without the wheels attached?
Removing the wheels makes it about 9# lighter
Need your consultation. Is car seat/ Stroller combination comfortable for new born when they sleep? I realized that it can't recline flat as separated stroller.
asides, evenflo dual ride is allowed to bring onto flight for their seat?
Thanks for watching! The Evenflo DualRide has aircraft approval, so you can use it onboard the aircraft. Car seats are not for sleeping. You can use the stroller mode for short strolls, but if you are at home, the child should be removed immediately from the car seat and moved to a flat surface for sleeping.
I had the Doona for my first baby and me and hubby were in love with it. Heard evenflo came out with a similar one so I bought the shyft combo for my second baby and I’m excited to use it.
That's fun! You get to try them both out!
Hey!! How was your experience with shyft one? Which one you like better?
