  • The 2020 Ford Edge ST is a powerful midsize SUV that's packed with a decent amount of tech. However, does the ST badge live up to the high expectations set forth by its smaller (and now discontinued) siblings like the Ford Focus and Ford Fiesta? And at nearly $53,000 is this midsize crossover worth it? Find out Before You Buy!

People need to understand that ST stands for Sport Technologies. It doesn’t necessarily mean all out track capability. You can’t compare an SUV to hot hatches. Bottom line, is it more fun to drive than a standard Edge? If the answer is yes, it’s a proper ST

I own one.. and I will tell you it's a blast to drive.. do I wish they did some sort of synthetic carbon for the center console, sure but other than that. It has all the creature comforts and is a lot of fun on twisties.. Its not meant to hit the track.

@@donmiller6839 This is what people don’t understand about them. They want them as capable as the Fiesta or Focus ST which just isn’t going to happen. Every person I know that has driven one says it’s surprisingly fun to drive. That makes it absolutely worthy of the ST badge. Im happy to hear you’re enjoying yours!

Absolutely. Picked up ours for under $43k cad. Nothing in that price range even comes close. If you want to compare to an SRT you're in the wrong category of vehicle.

I just got an ST (a 2020) in early December. While I agree that the layout for the climate controls could be nicer, I really appreciate the fact that it actually has buttons and does not have to be adjusted (except the heated steering wheel) through the tech interface. I did not feel the SUV was missing any niceties (mine has the 401A package like his tester), and he failed to mention how comfortable the backseats are, and how they recline some for more comfort. I can't speak for the incentives, etc at the time the video was made, but no one pays MSRP. In fact, just with incentives and some negotiating, I got it for 15% off sticker, and I like how it drives overall, though I am used to more feeling through the steering wheel. Overall, I would recommend it highly for people looking for a mid-sized SUV with some giddy-up, and lots of creature comforts in the (likely) low to mid 40K range. Far less than a similarly equipped "luxury" model, like the one I traded in.

I just got a 2020 ST and I love it so much! The speed and gitty up is no joke! Wish there was a button for the heated steering wheel instead of using the control screen! First time having cool seats and living in Florida I am now spoiled! I traded in a 2022 Nissan Frontier 4x4 which I loved but I get more use out of the cargo area on the edge than I did on truck bed! Over all I really like it! It’s pretty Red too ♥️

I have a 2019 ST, which I like a lot. Some of your nitpicking about the instruments are correct, but my overall experience with the ST is very positive. To put this in perspective, I came out of a 2007 Corvette ZO6, definitely a performance car.

This vehicle is amazing i have the 19..driving through st louis on my way to Springfield il the rain storm was blinding but the co pilot tech helped me when i could see. It basically saved my life. Couldnt pull over because everyone was following me and i was concerned theyd follow me off the side at 35 miles an hour..this vehicle never lets you feel that youre out of control. Amazing performance in this size of vehicle..no regrets

In that price category, ST is the best one out there. Totally disagree with your interior comments , Nissan , Honda , GM. Not even close to style inside and out compared to the ST .

I do agree with the interior that it looks a bit plain. But I checked Honda,Toyota,Nissan and I bought the edge st. Finally I drove the car for 150 km ( my wife drove the car home when we bought it 320 km) and I love it. All other cars won’t be able to do what this car can and the st has the killer look. So unfortunately I do not think like you do and I will live with the plain interior look and have a car drives like a dream and smocks the rest.

I have a 2019 Edge ST currently selling it and I have a 2019 Fiesta ST.. the fiesta st with full bolt-ons and tune is a little rocket and handles better then my mustang but the edge hauls the family around allot better then the fiesta. The edge st has good power and in it's class and price maybe the best option. It won't out run a SRT jeep that has 475hp but a jeep cost 15K more. When we bought the Edge ST we needed something bigger now that has changed so we decided to lose the payment for now so is why we are selling it. Anyone looking for a garage kept ST with 7,800 miles on it and loaded with all options let me know. :)

I just traded my 2013 focus st in for a 2020 edge st. I have three kids ages 12-17, and my oldest two are above avg in height and weight (read athletic not fat). We all fit with zero issue. Was my focus more fun to drive, of course it was. But this vehicle is no slouch. It’s fun, its powerful, it fulfills my needs, and looks good too. It’s performance difference between the st and the standard are night and day. If this vehicle was any more powerful it would encroach on the Explorer ST. Same reason they don’t make a Porsche Cayman faster then a 911. So if you need more pony up the cash for the explorer. Also i love the gauges, its a interesting mix of analog and digital. Maybe I’m selling myself on my purchase but I truly feel I’m uniquely qualified owning both the focus and the edge to know this does deserve a st badge.

My wish list for Ford on this to become 'Real ST' - weight reduction option, take out the heavy batting used on the firewall and floor, lighter seat option, more side bolstering, active exhaust for more bapp-baaappp sounds! Manual option with LSD tech found in the Focus RS, Line Lock, traction limiting button that allows you to *almost* get stupid...why not allow some sweet burn-outs in FWD mode? Ford could do it if they wanted! It would be legend status instead of a shoulder shrug product

Blah blah blah! Instead of sitting in the passenger seat and rapping away your mouth about all the things that you didn't like. how about taking it out and putting it through the paces. If you had actually put some drive time into the video it would have really given the true meaning of an ST. I have a 2021 and it is awesome. Next time sit in the DRIVERS SEAT, drive it and show us what it really means to have one of these amazing vehicles.

I've had a Ford Fusion for 9 years with not one problem. I did a little google and it seems that Nissan has had a lot of tranny problems. Would not say that Ford trans go out, but some are not very smooth or responsive (wacky shifts). I plan to buy a new Edge ST about year end, even tho they may discontinue it in '23.
