I was thinking, you know what could be wonderful and also a childhood’s dream ? A huge diorama as the one we can see in the movie The Night at Museum with the far west and the trains
YES, I love that scene, I was watching that movie about 3 weeks ago and thought the exact same thing! It's definitely a project I have on the cards, just need to figure out how to work out the space I'll need.
It's amazing how much you have influenced model makers on ytube and beyond, as your methods (once unique) are now being respoken by others. Nerdforge, sqigmar, and many more use n site you for inspiration, not to mention the railway enthusiasts . Thanks for the art and joyful fun.
Having trouble finding Wally? You'll find the answers here: www.bouldercreekrailroad.com/find-me-challenge.html 😃 Having a video sponsor helps me put these projects together and it's a sponsor I actually use. If you don't already use a VPN I highly recommend checking out NordVPN to get a 2 year plan with a very big discount and 1 month free by visiting NordVPN.com/towan
I didn't spot even one, then again, i didn't remember the test at all :D There was too much other stuff to look the whole time! Only when the end came i was like "oh yeah, the Wallies!!" :D
With so much new technology, tinkercad, Nova 3Ds Bene4 Mono, the Beamo Lasar cutter, etc, I love that one of your favourite details is still "static grass'' 23:20, truly adorable. (also when I first saw you do it, it was truly magic)
There's something about old timber structures in rugged landscapes that just look awesome. I love to see a fire watch tower in a yellow stone type settling.
What an awesome build! As a huge fan of "Back to the Future" and the whole trilogy, I was thrilled when I saw the model at the beginning. I really enjoyed the "bloopers" at the end. as well.
In Lego Dimensions, they play with the fact that the clock tower resides in all the time periods and you can travel from the town square in 1885, 1985, and 2015. Could be a fun project to do all three - especially since you can double up on some of the models. Maybe a few bits can be a base that you add wood/brick/concrete siding to? I'm spitballing here, but love to see the dedication to recreation here.
Well, another masterpiece of model construction from Mr Towan…as a model railroader I am happy to see a train in this one! Bravo sir, once again you deliver the goods.
Luke, your work is absolutely amazing! I came across your channel awhile back and just wasn’t aware that such things were even possible-while instantly becoming addicted to trying to make them myself. You have truly inspired me and with the help of your tutorials I have spent countless hours of pure enjoyment making these so Thank You! I’ve always had a thing for rivers and streams which is why your Muddy river diorama caught my eye. I have made a few small outdoor water features with plants over the course or my life and had recently made one for inside and was about halfway through my second one when I came across your channel. After seeing what is possible in regards to the realism of the modeling world I have become addicted to TRYING to mix the two. You sir, WOULD ABSOLUTELY NAIL IT! This is not a challenge. I’ve seen your videos. This would be a walk in the park! This is just a humble request that maybe one day you throw it into your mix of pure awesomeness! Either way, I look forward to the continued stream of top notch information delivered in tutorials that are the same quality as your finished projects-PERFECT!
It is great to see you back Luke after being AWOL the last few months, so I hope you are well, fit, and able again. Plus, what a great diorama to come back with, of the classic B2TF scene with Train and DeLoren car. As per usual with your hints, tips, and scenic building all excellently explained while filmed and edited for wonderful viewing. The special effects for the car and train end of the line clip were amusing to boot. Hopefully, it won't be long until we see you again with another stunning design, welcome back to the present my friend.
It’s always a pleasure to see you 3D painting your diorama, very beautiful model. Thank you for sharing your amazing story. God bless you and your family.
I would LOVE to see you do the park gates from Jurassic Park. Great details could be done with the gates and fence, and it is a more tropical climate, which is something I would love to see more of from you!
I'm a big fan of the trilogy, and this scene really gets my heart. This one has something special... Congratulations again for sharing this passion and this realism close to perfection. Thank you
"Doc! I can't believe you made a time machine... outta resin model?" This is a great build and model. And the Nord VPN ad was fantastic with your versions of Doc and Marty.
If you're having issues with the airbrush giving you a bleeding effect on the edges, try polishing the needle. A lot of cheap and new airbrush needles can have imperfections that aren't noticeable to the naked eye and polishing can help crisp up the edges. Great video Luke 👍👍
When I first saw this channel, this was the most amazing miniature I had ever seen. I was very impressed. I respect the way the colors are applied and the way they are made is very careful.
Wow, your amazing at that, that’s gotta be one of my favourite little models I’ve ever seen, and the DeLorean was also incredible! I thought it was store bought until you said it was printed
I'm literally painting my own BttF3 train/Delorean on rails for my HO layout as I type this. Great video. Bought an old TYCO 4-6-0 that I'm going to paint and letter like the 131 in the film.
This is an outstanding project! For anyone unaware of ancient model railroad history, the Mantua/TYCO 4-6-0 is actually the correct locomotive, having been modeled after Sierra #3, the locomotive used in the movie. These used to be available everywhere for cheap, but are now getting harder to find and more expensive.
Great job! Really well done. Believe it or not I built a small display bridge from the movie too about two years ago. I used a hot wheel bttf 3 delorean for scale. I love this hobby. Trains will always be the classic go to hobby. Keep up the good work. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Just excellent. I always got excited when I see the message of your new videos. Your videos are my rehabilitation and relaxation times. Can't wait for the next one.
Absolutely amazing as usual. Still looking forward to when you might (hopefully) have a display showing at Cairns or Townsville. I could suggest a great diorama that would be a challenge. The “Gulflander” at Normanton. It’s only a 10 hour drive west from you. I can even supply photos from the 70s. Always look forward to your new videos. Nice touch with the additional entertainment on the way thru.
Another award winning diorama Luke . Alot of great movie scenes you could create using trains if thats the theme you are basing things on . The Wild Wild West has alot of great train scenes although the movie was a flop but i enjoyed it and it stars Will Smith so maybe too soon . lol .
Wow, I've just made a DeLorean (PT 2) in 1/24 scale myself - not sure I'd have room for a diorama like this in that scale! Amazing work - seeing this really makes me want to expand my dioramas and do get a 3D printer.
I’m doing just that, making the DeLorean Train for my G Scale layout with Doc and Clara on the hoverboard alongside and Marty in the car! This has given me some more input into the details. 👍
Fantastic tutorial Luke. So much detail and great tips and techniques to practice. Cheers. Maybe a Harry Potter diorama in the future? Thinking there could be some good dark scenes in there to change up the usual moods of your projects. Can't wait to see what you come up with next.
I've always wanted to see a small forest diorama be lit on fire to see how accurate it looks and how it spreads. Until then, this will satisfy my thirst for miniature destruction.
Ring…Ring. I think that’s Hollywood calling. They need some realistic backdrops for a new action blockbuster and your name came up. I really love your models and the painstaking work you do to make them come to life. Keep them coming.
This kinda reminds of when dok apologizes to marty for the model not looking too good or to scale but its actually really detailed and perfect just like all your scaled models. Your like the Bob Ross of model kit making. 👍👍👍
I actually picked up one of those air bushes/rechargable compressors just out of curiosity a long time ago. And mine came with an adapter for attaching a higher end airbrush. But I was actually really impressed with the little thing. I expected to throw the whole thing away after a couple uses, but I probably use it more than my dedicated setup because of the convenience. And it's easy to throw in my bag for use on the road or in my downtime at work. It's a little finicky compared to an expensive airbrush and it's not perfect, but so so good for the cost and perfect for a beginner or with limited space/budget. I think they're like $50 or so. Mines been kicking for a couple years now and still doing well. Though I don't do just a ton of airbrushing.
Man, you made it perfect. This is so realistic. I imagine "Hugo" train crush will be your next scene. I love movie scenes dioramas. I'm preparing to make Jurassic World famous 🦖 scene. I've got cars and T-REX so far :). Gotta start making it.

A lot of 3-D printer people have started to trim supports before curing, as it helps reduce the amount of sanding needed (if any needs to be done at all). The resin is soft enough to cut through with a hobby knife, but still rigid enough it won't warp.
